the drama is set in such time zone that if she weren't "pure", it would have been difficult for her to live in the society at that time.

Not doubting Uday's character/love here but I don't think both these situations can be matched

Marrying a woman who has been previously married to someone else and has children from that marriage is different from marrying a courtesan who might have had been presented to multiple men

The first category of girls though not desirable but are definitely respectable (and as the TM said in lack of better word pure), the second category of girls are neither desirable as women of the family nor are respectable or considered pure

Realistically speaking, not many women would have been as lucky as Vashma to be able to survive living in a Kotha keeping herself 'pure'. Which makes me think, why is there such an emphasis on her being 'pure' (for the lack of a better word) in the show. Are women who are forced into prostitution any less pure? Should they be viewed as lesser beings? Would it have been difficult to defend her 'honour' then?

Would Uday have been able to accept it and love Vashma even then?

What do you people think?

This is a very valid question you asked. But I saw the way Uday was hell bent in making Vashma accept her love. At that moment it didn't matter to him that if she was "pure" or not. He could sense the love which was reflected in her eyes. So Uday would not even think of leaving her..
