Lalaji - Baig Friendship

Lalaji and Dr. Baig have been more family than friends. If people didn’t know who they were, they’d even mistake them for brothers, that’s how close their bond has been.

Dr. Baig walked into Om Niwas with full authority and was genuinely concerned for Randhir. When Lalaji refused to let him see Randhir, he was pained. It showed on his face. He was hurt when Lalaji told him about Abrar attacking Randhir and even setting his shop on fire. Of course that shocked him, but he thought Lalaji was mistaken.

The hurt when he saw another doctor coming to the Sahni household and the expressions on his face broke my heart.

We all talk about Vashma and Amrit’s friendship, Vashmay, Amdheer, Udheer,RadHay, but no one talks about Lalaji and Baig - their friendship deserves a mention too.

I seriously hope things get better between the two, but with communal riots being shown, I doubt. Somehow I have a feeling when the Sahnis have to leave Lahore, Dr.Baig will somehow help him.

It was painful to watch - I mean the daughters went to each house with full authority, lala hosting Vashma's marriage function with haq. This Bhanu Abrar ruined it

I genuinely feel their friendship is not strong enough.... Lala Ji went on with "Tera beta, Mera damad" just because Abrar did something.... He was punishing Baig Sahab, so rude with him for something which Abrar did. Agar Uday kuch karta instead of Abrar (Just giving example) he would've punish Uday not Brij or Radha, that's the difference between your own family member and someone from neighbour... Lala Ji doesn't consider Abrar as his family like he claims... Instead of slapping Abrar Lala ji has punished Baig for trusting his own daughter/son over Amrit and Sahanis. 🤪 On the other hand, Baig knows very well how Abrar is obsessed with his activities, still he was firm in his belief. Vashma told "Maine Abrar bhaijaan ka Naam nehi suna" that doesn't mean Ki Abrar can't be involved. Instead of calling Abrar he was defending him continuously. The main point is both of them were thinking about their own family when they claims to be one family... I don't have any problem with them trusting their own children but why on earth they claims all kids are their own irrespective of their titles, they loves all of them? That's the problem.

The implicit differences were always there, the cracks are showing up more evidently now. They always claimed to be one family and gave their children (esp. Vashma/Uday) false hopes that they might be accepted irrespective of everything else. When the time came, they made it evident that religion DOES take precedence over friendship, which is not the case when it comes to VashRit. This dictomy of what friendship means to the two generations is worth the watch.

It is indeed wrong of Lalaji to restrict Baigs based on Abrar's actions, but then Dr. Baig also trusting his son implicitly also makes it a lil uncomfortable, especially when we saw in initial episodes that he did chide Abrar for slapping Vashma or speaking against the other community. He knows his son is capable of being party to it even if he may not think he is the perpetrator, the lies need to fade at some point. Zaheeda, I dont know kaunse mitti se bahi hai ye maa ki bete ke liye beti ke bacche ko maarne ki dhamki tak de di, when the beta has the audacity to threaten a women of consequences in form of her daughter's modesty been stolen when he does not get his way. YEESH!

To Arpi's point, yes, if the Uday and Vashma thing also does come up, Lalaji will punish Uday and not Brij or Radha for it because there the line is drawn.
