'I'D LOVE TO GET MARRIED WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT'

Having put the MMS scandal behind her, a resilient Mona Singh says she makes no plans for the future and is looking forward to a trip abroad

I'm a strong person, and for me to face the situation and go to work the next day
speaks volumes.
— Mona Singh, actor

From page 01 Mona Singh has been through a lot in the past couple of months. From an MMS clip claiming to feature her doing the rounds on the net, to rumours of a breakup with boyfriend Vidyut Jamwal to her show Kya Hua Tera Vada (KHTV) ending. Yet, the actor manages to remain stoic. We find Mona is a happy space, doing her own thing.

What's next for you?

Is it a relief that KHTV has ended or are you missing it?

Neither. I think it ended at the right time and the best thing an actor can hear about the show is 'we will miss the show', which people have told me. It should never be in the 'when will it end' space.

KHTV wasn't as popular or got TRPs like your previous hit show Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin.

I don't get worried by TRPs because I'm neither the producer nor the channel. Post the leap, I heard TRPs dipped. People felt we'd lost the plot, so they lost interest.

Did you have reservations about playing mom to someone few years younger than you?

It was tougher to play mom to a grown-up girl than three young kids. I was nervous, so I spoke to Sakshi (Tanwar) as she played a mom, and a grandmom in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. She told me 'Don't think about anything, just give it your best.' I make no plans. Whatever happened in the last 10 years, happened on its own. Right now I am enjoying my break. I went to Vaishnodevi after KHTV ended. In mid-June, I'll go France, London and Leh.

People must ask you about marriage.

No one asks me about marriage (laughs). My parents don't ask me. I'm pretty lucky when it comes to that. I'd love to get married when the time is right.

How have you put the MMS clip behind you?

I read this somewhere, 'What the world calls failure, I call it the turning point.' This really was the turning point of my life. I found strength. My family, their love, support was with me. I discovered things about myself that I didn't know about. I'm a strong person, and for me to face the situation and go to work the next day speaks volumes. The fight is within you to forget and move on. I've moved on.
