That's been the story of the villains all along ironically. They always ended up bringing them closer to each other in one way or the other, despite a 100 attempts to separate them -- of course apart from the forced separations for a new track.

Btw... the precap scene is kind of a reverse of a scene in the initial days -- keechad falling on her from his car wheels and him lecturing her about how important his time is.
