Part 4
She kept on waiting for DB to come to the hospital desperately as she wanted her answers to her questions and she deserved the right to know the truth which was hidden by her. Before meeting him she wanted to ask her why she didn't tell everything to her before? Did she not trust her any more... She had promised her that she would stay away from him but now that destiny is again bringing them face to face... Why did DB not tell her everything? She was waiting when DB arrived so that she could send her home for some rest. She saw Nidhi very upset and got worried for the health of CV...
DB: kya baat hai? sab theek hai na?
Nidhi didn't reply and just stood up...
DB: baat kya hai bata na...
Nidhi: Baba ka operation Dr Ashutosh ne kiya hai? aap jaanti thi?
DB: tujhe kaise pata... (she became anxious and thought he revealed everything to her while he had promised he wont tell anything to her...)
Nidhi: wo zaroori nahi hai ki mujhe kaise pata chala...aap ko yeh sab pata tha na... to aap ne mujhe bataya kyun nahi? Aap mujhpar bilkul bharosa nahi karti na...
DB: aisi baat nahi hai...Dr Ashutosh ne mujhse vaada kiya tha ki wo tujhe kuchh nahi batayenge... fir bhi...
Nidhi: yeh aap ne hi unse kaha hoga...haina...
DB: main tere liye darr gayi thi... Itni mushkil se tu us sadme se bahar nikal rahi hai... fir se tu unhe saamne dekhti to kya hota? Yeh hi sochke main darr gayi thi... Mujhe teri fikr thi isliye maine...
Nidhi: aap ... aap aisa kaise kar sakti hain...unhone Baba ki jaan bachai...aur aap ... jab unhone hi aap dono ki ichha ka samman karte huye mujhse door hone ka decision liya tha...aur hum dono ne use accept kiya tha... Aap ko thoda to bharosa rakhna chahiye tha... unpar aur usse pehle mujh par...lekin nahi... aap ne yeh zaroori nahi samjha... aur abhi bhi aap soch rahi hain ki unhone mujhe bataya hai... par aapki information ke liye... wo mujhse mile bhi nahi hain... mujhe yahan kisi aur se by chance pata chal gaya...par ab main unse milne zaroor jaaungi... Ek baar to zaroor milna hai...Baba ke liye unhone jo kiya uske liye unko thank you bolna hai...
DB: par Nidhi...
Nidhi: par var kuchh nahi... Mujhe unse milna hai matlab milna hai...
Nidhi was adamant and DB knew she wont listen to her once she has decided on something. Nidhi went to the reception to ask when would he be coming to see CV? They told her that he would be coming late evening as he was busy in his hospital in the day time. She decided that she would meet him when he comes there in the evening. She thought that she would meet her here only as she was meeting him as a patient's daughter not as his ex-love. So she came back in the evening after some rest and wanted to send DB back home. DB wanted to be with her when she meets him but Nidhi insisted and sent her back home. She wanted to meet him alone only and told her not to worry and trust both of them. She won't let her down in any situation and DB had to agree. Nidhi was waiting for him and she had asked the reception people to tell her whenever he arrives.
After 2 hours a ward boy came to her and told her that Dr Ashutosh had come ... She went with him and asked him to tell Dr Ashutosh that CV's daughter wants to meet him. He did the same and she waited outside the room. Nidhi was thinking since the morning on how she would face him after so many months? Whether she would be able to speak in front of him...whether she would get weak to see him after a long time... How would he be... Whether he was fulfilling his promise to her... how would he react when she meets him... She knew that it would be difficult for him as well to face her as it is for her as well. But since then she couldn't figure out answers to any of her questions and she decided to leave it on to the destiny as she herself was not responsible for him coming back into their life and so she decided to just go and meet him and not think about anything else.
There Ashutosh who was sitting with the hospital director who had called him for CV was informed about Nidhi wanting to meet him and that too the way Nidhi had asked the ward boy to tell him. He thought how did she come to know about him and why did she address herself like that? She could have told her name only directly...whats going on in her mind? But the promise we both made to each other... how could she break that? But not having answers to any of these questions he asked the ward boy to send her in and he waited there anxiously.
Soon Nidhi entered the room and both of them felt as if the time stood there still for them. Nidhi looked at him and he hesitantly looked towards her not able to decide what to say as he never expected her to be there right in front of him suddenly. She too wasn't able to say anything for some time and felt as if she was spell bound...his presence took her in another world altogether... her voice became heavy and words failed to come out from her mouth. Tears moistened her eyes as she kept on looking at him and similar was his situation. All their beautiful moments flashed in front of their eyes and both of them recollected their times of togetherness and separation in those few moments of eyelocks. The director interrupted them and asked Nidhi to sit there. She came out of her trance and she felt weak on her legs...but she composed herself and sat on the chair. She asked his permission to have some water which he allowed. The director had to go for the hospital rounds so he left both of them alone to discuss about the patient. Nidhi not knowing how to start the conversation and words failed her this time...
Nidhi: wo...wo ...wo main...
Ashutosh understood her situation very well and he wondered how much she had changed... a girl who couldn't stop talking was finding it hard to say anything today...he thought and he tried to break this silence prevailing in the room which was making her very uncomfortable... he could see it clearly on her face...though it wasn't easy for him as well.
Ashutosh: so Miss Verma...bataiye... kya jaanna chahti hain aap? Aapke father ab pehle se bahut better hain...but still unhe kuchh din abhi hospital mein aur rehna padega...
Nidhi realised that he was trying to make it easier for her...and she tried to come out of her despair.
Nidhi (hesitantly): wo ...main aap ko thanks bolna chahti thi... Aapne Baba ki jaan bachai...
Ashutosh: isme thanks ki koi baat nahi...wo mera farz tha... aur koi bhi hota to main aisa hi karta...
Nidhi: haan jaanti hu... Aap ke liye aapke patients kitne important hain... Aur main bhi...
Ashutosh: purani baatein yaad na karen to aap ke liye achha hoga... Miss Verma... kuchh baatein yaad hi ban ke rahen to hi achha hai... jin baaton se dard ka ehsaas ho...jinse dukh ho... Wo dil se door hi rahen isi mein sab ki bhalai hai...hai na...
Nidhi: theek kehte hain... dekh rahi hu...bahut badal gaye hain aap...aapne yaadon ke saath jeena seekh liya hai
Ashutosh: par lagta hai aap ab tak nahi seekh payi hain...kisi ne mujhse vaada liya tha...bas...wo hi nibhane ki koshish kar raha hu... waise aap ko yeh hospital bahut door padta hoga... haina... agar aap chahe to main CV ko apne hospital mein shift kara sakta hu... Only if you are comfortable... you please let me know... ok...
Nidhi: jee dekh rahi hu...aap apna vada bahut achhe se nibha rahe hain... Jisse bhi aapne vada kiya wo bahut khush hogi aaj... Mujhe bahut khushi hogi agar aap Baba ko wahan shift kar paye to...I'll be thankful to you...
Ashutosh: to theek hai fir...main sab documents arrange kara deta hu... it will soon be done...
Nidhi smiled to him signalling her gratitude and immediately got up saying that she gotta go and he should get everything arranged. She went towards the door and slightly turned around to see her Ashutosh... he had his eyes closed and he was sitting with his head resting on the back of his chair. She could make out his pain on his face...He had a drop of tear trickle down which he wiped immediately and saw Nidhi looking at him. He immediately turned around ... Nidhi couldn't say anything and went outside and ran out of the hospital where she could find an isolated place. She burst out crying and she couldn't hold back her tears this time.
She cried her heart out and tried to wash away all her pain and grief she was holding in her heart since long time with those tears. She was overwhelmed with emotions after meeting him and couldn't control herself this time. After 6 months she had seen him and how difficult it would have been for him to fulfil his promise...this realisation made her all the more guilty... He for once even didn't say anything to her...he didn't have even a bit of anger on his face for her...she left him when he needed her the most...but she ...she wasn't able to come out of it still... She was remorseful to think how destiny took a turn... She was living his life and he was trying to live as she wanted him to... Both of them were meant for each other at hearts but fate had some other plans ...so they had to go away from each other...now with him again coming back into her life...she didn't know what was instore for her?
All these thoughts creeped into her mind and she kept on crying for a long time. DB called her up many times but she didn't pick up the call... She knew she wont be able to speak a word even...DB was getting more and more anxious as to what happened when she met him? After a long time Nidhi managed to calm down and compose herself and called up DB.
DB: kya hua Nidhi... Tu mujhe theek nahi lag rahi hai?
Nidhi: main theek hu DB... aap fikr mat karo... hum dono apna vaada zaroor poora karenge...
DB: wo to theek hai par unhone kuchh kaha to nahi?
Nidhi: nahi DB... Wo to Baba ke doctor hain... unhone bas wo hi baat ki... wo apne vaade ke pakke hain... jaanti hu main unhe... par aap hi nahi jaan paye... nahi samajh paye unhe... unke pyaar ko...
She said this and disconnected the call... she wiped her tears and tried to strengthen herself mentally... she went inside the hospital to look after her Baba and while she was going inside Ashu saw her and told her that he had arranged everything for his transfer to his hospital and the next morning he can be shifted. She just nodded in acceptance and gratitude and went inside.
Jab aata nahi samajh kuch kyun hota hai
To sab kuchh kismat par chhod dena chahiye
Apni raah jab kahin door tak dikhayi na de
To raaste ko khud aapke saamne aane dena chahiye
