Kritika landed her first television role as female protagonist in 2008 as Arshiya in Yahan Ke Hum Sikander and was paired against Ravi Dubey. Prior to that, she had a negative role in a teen show Jersey No.10 which aired on SUB TV in 2007. There, she played Tanya who was after male lead Arjun. In 2010, Kritika has also done a cameo as Geeta in Ganga ki Dheej
While pursuing her graduation in Fashion Designing at NIFT, Delhi, one day she was caught bunking the class when she auditioned for Balaji Telefilm's then-upcoming show outside her college and lo and behold... she got selected for the role of Arohi Sharma in Kitni Muhobbat Hai!
Kritika got her big break in Indian TV industry with her role of Arohi Sharma in Balaji Telefilms' Kitani Mohabbat Hai - an Indian soap opera which aired on NDTV Imagine from January 19, 2009 till September 25, 2009. With sizzling chemistry between the protagonists Kritika Kamra and Karan Kundra (playing Arjun Punj in the show), the show became extremely popular and Karan-Kritika (fondly known as Karanika among fans) became an overnight sensation. They couple won the 'Best Jodi Award (NTA 2009) for this show.
Kritika as Arohi Sharma looked so simple yet ravishing beauty... so gossamer... like morning dew on petals! The soft-spoken, guileless and homely girl Arohi aspirant to become a singer, struck an instant chord with the viewers and stole the hearts of many.
Considering tremendous fan-following of Karan-Kritika, the makers of KMH were compelled to bow to the public demand, and bring the show and the couple back for another season. This created a history in Indian TV industry as till then, no other actor or show has ever been able to achieve this pinnacle of popularity on the Indian television. Kitani Mohabbat Hai Season2 ran from November 1, 2010 till May 26, 2011 and is essentially not a continuation of first season but stars the same leads in a different lovestory.
In Sajin ol hob, the Middle East countries' version of Kitani Mohabbat hai, Arohi's character becomes Hanadi. Kitni Muhobbat Hai is still the most popular show in middle east countries and the fans still demand its repeat. Hence the show again got dubbed in Arabic and is being rerun since May 2014 on the most popular Arabic channel MBC.
KMH2 narrates the story of two diverse families and two diverse individuals. Arjun Singhania (Karan Kundra) is quiet and an introvert while Arohi Ahluwaliya (Kritika Kamra) defines vibrancy and chirpiness at their best! Her world revolves around her family of sincere and honest police officers while Arjun is the son of a white collared criminal. Yet when cupid strikes, love has no rules, no reasons and knows no laws! Kitani Mohabbat Hai 2 follows Arjun and Arohi's love story budding under the most unfavorable circumstances, with a very interesting twist.
As Arohi of KMH2, Kritika played a loud Punjabi girl exactly opposite to the meek Arohi of KMH1 but with her supremely screen presence and special charm, viewers never found it difficult to accept this heavenly beauty in a completely different persona.
During 2009-2010 Kritika played Prateeksha/Kajol in Sony Entertainment Television India's dailysoap Pyaar Ka Bandhan. The show told the story of four siblings Kajol, Sujoy, Deva, and Mishti who get separated in their childhood when, after having been diagnosed with terminal stage cancer, their mother leaves them in an orphanage. The story then takes a leap and depicts how all the children who have separated, grow up and eventually get reunited walking thru the topsy-turvy paths of life.
Kajol the eldest daughter (renamed Prateeksha) becomes the personal secretary of funloving, carefree playboy Shashank (played by Vivian Bhatena). He is the only child of a weathy industrialist but is very good at heart. Prateeksha is very simple, family-loving and responsible person who is still looking for her parents.
Though Prateeksha and Shahsank are poles apart in nature, impressed by Prateeksha's simplicity and dutifulness, Shashank eventually falls for her. After much struggles in Prateeksha's life, the show concludes on happy note with all four siblings finding each other, finding their mother also who is still alive and Prateeksha-Shashank also reuniting.
In 2010, Kitika participated in Star Plus' celebrity dance reality show Zara Nachke Dikha with her then-beau Karan Kundra. The former couple's sizzling chemistry in reel and real life had had them roped in for this show and having Karan-Kritika (fondly known as Karanika among fans) on board, the TRPs of this already popular show skyrocketted!
According to show's format, there were two teams Girls vs. Boys and Girls won that season. So, Kritika became part of winning Team. Despite being amateur in dancing, Kritika gave some memorable and very emotional performances like the act dedicated to Mothers on Mother's Day. Her Act pulled the strings not only at audience's but also at Judges' and Hosts' hearts and had garnered her huge round of applause.
Kritika Kamra as Dr. Nidhi is every KTLKians's heart's angel! With her astounding acting talent, she breathed life into the innocent, vivacious, sophisticated, very talented young Doctor and family-oriented character of Dr. Nidhi, and made the character so real that thousands of young Indian girls of today's era can relate to Dr. Nidhi.
Her effortless portrayal of Dr. Nidhi in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, won her many accolades. Kritika was honoured with Lion Gold Favourite Jodi on Television Award (COUPLE) with Mohnish Bahl in 18th Lion Gold Awards, 2011 and Lions Favourite Jodi on Television (COUPLE) with Sharad Kelkar in 19th Lion Gold Awards, 2012. She also won "Kalakaar" award in 2012 for best female in leading role for her essaying of Dr. Nidhi
She was the undisputed star of this unique and distinct show which started exactly three years ago in October 2011. The beautiful concept of love story between a couple who is 18 years apart each other in age, made us fall in love with it hook line and sinker and we its loyal viewers cannot think of watching any other show because of its different theme, the medical background and its stupendous lead actors.
The female lead so ably shouldered by this enchanting beauty reigns in our hearts forever and even though the chances of a second season for this show are as slim as ever, none of us would ever want this show without Kritika Kamra. For us Dr. Nidhi is Kritika and Kritika is Dr. Nidhi.
When we first started watching this show, Kritika's acting stood out as a beautiful and bubbly young intern who swept the formidable Dean off his feet. Though being portrayed as bubbly and chirpy, yet she brought in a lot of mellowness in her acting. Her stunning portrayal of various characters, be it as a mischievous intern who struggles to gain the Dean's attention, as a loving daughter to her father and Aunt, as a confidante to her childhood buddy only enhanced her reputation as a brilliant actor.
Her beautiful face and lustrous eyes depicted anguished scenes excellently and she did complete justice to the sad tracks. When owing to health issues, the popular male lead deserted the show abruptly she continued to give her best with the second lead and she was the only actor to be present in all the 346 episodes of the show. When Kritika decided to quit the show in March 2013, the makers of the show did not hesitate to call it curtains and that only shows how singularly important her role was for Kuch Toh Log Kahenge.
In 2012, Kritika Kamra did a cameo in the Indian soap opera The Serial on Channel V India where she played herself. The show was jointly produced by Balaji Telefilms and Lost Boy Productions and became much popular with its very unique and interesting concept and better presentation.
Premiered from November 26, 2012 to March 7, 2013, the show includes all the actors in their real life roles and explores the life of the television actors through the eyes of a 17 year old aspiring actor Rohan Shah, whose role model is Karan Kundra. Rohan goes to the Balaji PH's office for an audition of show "Gumraah" and gets selected.
In the meantime he gets to go in Karan Kundra's party (organized by Soumya Seth to reunite Karan Kundra and Kritika Kamra) with a friend and not knowing about Karan and Kritika's breakup plays a CD having their past memories to wish them happy anniversary. This angers Kundra.
Actress Sara Khan plays a large part in helping Rohan play that CD. The next day newspapers are filled with Karan and Kritika's breakup news. The story then covers the life and struggles of various celebrities from Rohan's point of view.
After Kuch Toh Log Kahenge concluded in March-2013, Kritika played Veera in Life OK's Ek Thhi Naayka which was a mini series for promotion of Balaji Telefilms' movie "Ek Thi Daayan". There were 8 most popular leading ladies (Maha Nayika) of the Production House, chosen to do an episodic where they portrayed a woman representing Indian culture from specific regions. Veera was a foreign-educated modern yet Indian-at-heart girl who was apple of everyone's eye in a typical Punjabi family. The story showed her fighting against supernatural evil powers and depicting triumph of good over evil.
This lovely personality, a very talented actress, a known face Kritika Kamra was here to shake her legs on most popular dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja' season7, to learn, to grow, to fly... Paired with the talented choreographer Savio Barnes, the duo gave some unique performances.
Kritika and Savio's first act was a visual treat. A slow dance form simple but beautifully choreographed, had left the fans satisfied for a first performance on Jhalak's platform and clamoring for more from this stellar beauty. However as Judges pointed out, Kritika had a lot to learn with the dance technicalities and she promised to do better in the coming weeks.
Her second week act was a whole different genre where she did two unique dance forms Jive and Jitterbug. This act was full of energy, full of life , full of innocence and the judges were indeed impressed.
The very next week the theme being Indian dance forms, she tried out a fusion that had 2 different Gujarati dance forms, Garba and Dandiya with a Bollywood tadka. Kritika looked completely at ease with the dance moves despite the pressure. She was enjoying the dance for the first time on a live platform and gave power-packed performance.
But contrary to the improvement, popularity and votes, next week Kritika was voted off leaving her and all of us in shock while her last words on the stage of Jhalak left us all in tears. The judges also seemed more strict with a non-dancer celebrity like Kritika
Kritika had finally gained the confidence and had overcome the fears as she says but unfortunately we could see no more of this star on the stage of Jhalak.
Though Kritika's journey on Jhalak was short but without any doubt, memorable for the fans. More promising things are awaiting her and we wish her all the very best with her future endeavours
Having wooed the audience for almost 5 years, with her effervescence and acting prowess, the sensational multitalented diva of Telly town, Kritika Kamra went on to play the anchor of the very popular MTV Webbed which spreads awareness amongst youth on cyber crimes.
Produced by Lost Boy Productions, the show's last season saw different hosts coming in every week presenting tales of cyber abuse. But this time around, Kritika was the face of the show throughout. Her emblematic presentation and extra-ordinary conceptualization of the show, quickly connected to the viewers and the show got extension to 24 episodes from the initial run of 16 episodes due to its increasing popularity.
Kritika proclaimed that she herself was an Internet addict and had fallen an easy target. On record, she is the first ever Indian TV actress who had around 300K likes on her Facebook page. Her celebrity status proved her more vulnerable to hacking and she lost this very popular Facebook Page unfortunately.
Kritika once again became a victim of hacking very recently. Her email and Facebook accounts were hacked in August 2014 , but she says her experience on the show helped her take notice of the issue quickly.
"My G mail and Facebook accounts were recently hacked into. Someone sent me a Google document claiming it was a script. I clicked on it only to find a blank document. The next thing I knew - my accounts were hacked. But the tips I learned from 'MTV Webbed' really helped me identify this immediately," said Kritika.
She added: "Such a thing happened to me in the past too and back then my images and other important documents were stolen. But this time I was prepared. Now thanks to what I learned on the show, I surf smart and hence I stayed safe."
She felt that Internet was a very important medium to reach out to people, read and get knowledge. But it was also important that people should be aware of things that can go wrong and should be careful about it. The viewers got to see the real Kritika Kamra narrating stories about the vulnerability of the Internet and disastrous consequences it can lead to if not surfed smartly. She looked a million-bucks in simple casual attires too! Her exemplary presentation of the deeply engaging stories empowered the youth with information on how to protect themselves on the World Wide Web.
Though Kritika has successfully continued to stay connected with her fans as show-host, her loyal fans miss out on a daily dose of watching this winsome beauty and are waiting for a gift from their golden gracious girl. A ten minute short film 'My Best Girl Friend' is all set to be released on her birthday this year. She could not have asked for a better present on her special day!
The film which deals with the hypocrisy and fragility of an urban relationship, was shot over a couple of days across Mumbai and features the versatile bubbly actress Kritika Kamra and Vikrant Massey (who played Ranveer Singh's best friend in block-buster Bolywood hit "Lootera"). It is currently under post-production, preparing for an online premiere on 25th October 2014.
The Films' story is about a guy who is in a relationship with a rich girl who he feels is the best girl he could ever have. Just when things are looking up, a dark twist changes both their lives.. The story has been written by Amit Roy, who has directed the yet-to-be released Running Shaadi.com and has been directed by Navjot Gulati.
All Kritika fans are waiting eagerly to see her in this short film, keeping fingers crossed and wishing that this film will be the stepping stone for her future projects on the silver screen. We are sure she would have done complete justice to her role and acted with poise and perfection, like always!
