chapter two

Ashu lead nidhi to arohi's room! nidhi saw the tiny angel lying unconscious on the bed...she was surrounded by many kind of instruments! nidhi was confused to see the baby like that! she just thought that arohi was in shock for her mother's death...but it seems there were many thing yet to know for her!!

nidhi sat on the bed beside her nd kept her hand over her head just like she did in the morning! she could fell her feverish body was shivering with her touch...as if she recognized her touch...nd nidhi could hear a slight whisper'mummy! mummy!

nidhi felt her eyes were getting moisture...her heart was filled with an unconditional love for this baby suddenly...her slight whisper saying her mummy gave her immense pleasure...as if she was her own child...her own flesh nd blood!!

nidhi hold her tight in her arms...her body was also trembling tremendously!

...yes, my jaan! i'm here! ur mummy is here! don't worry! i'm with u beta! 'nidhi said her as if trying to assure her nd herself also! haering her voice, arohi slowly opened her eyes..to confirm that her mother was really with her...beside her!! nidhi gave her a reassuring smile in return!

...mummy! ap firse mujhe chodkar chali gayi thi!! apko pata hain maine apko kitna dhunda? aur papa bhi mujhse jhut bol rahe the ki meine apko sapne mein dekha!! ap sapna nehi ho na? ap sach mein mere pass hona mummy?

nidhi looked at ashutosh who was standing at the door yet...his helplessness was written on his face...it seems that he was suffering more than this tiny life! her heart was feeling strange kind of peace seeing this heavenly love between this two. nd here she was...a curse to her father...never saw any love in his eyes except rage nd hatred! as if this two relationship is the two opposite pool of earth...how strange .isn't it??

...mummy! ap kuch bolte ku nehin? ap mujhe chod kar firse chalito nehi jaogi na??'her tiny hands clutched nidhi's kurta tightly!

...no, arohi! mummy won't go anywhere! i promise! now u pls sleep..nd i promise that u will find me beside u when u open ur eyes!

being assured the little baby drifted into a peaceful sleep...feling safe in her mother's arm! nidhi looked at her loving face and find her own image in her lying in her mother's arm! unknowingly her eyes were getting moisture...but in those tears, she felt a strange kind of happiness!!

nidhi came outside to meet with dr. ashutosh as arohi was in deep sleep! she looked all over the hall area but he was no where in sight! she was about to turn when she heard the sound from behind'beti! kise dhund rahin ho??

nidhi turned nd recognized the old man as she saw him in morning!

...ji! dr. ashutosh ko! ap unke...?

... mein hiraman! unke saath hi rahta hoon! ashu baba ko meine hi palpose kar bada kia!

...oh accha! ap bata sakte hain wo kaha hain? actually mujhe unse kuch jarury baat karni thi!

... beti use kuch derke liye akela chod do! tumahare jane ke baad arohi ki bahot tabiyat kharab hogayi thi...wo bacchi jis par iss ghar ke har member ka jaan atka hua hain! ashu baba to mano usike liye jite hain!

...haan! par ajanak hua kya tha? i mean arohi ki kamre me itni saari instruments aur medicines ku hain?

nidhi could saw the changing expressions on his face...as if could not find suitable word to unveil some unpleasant truth!

...use..use blood cancer hain beti!

...kya!!'nidhi felt something broken deep in his heart...this sudden revelation made her feeling miserable! how..how could b god so cruel...so unkind to this tiny life!! oh god if u determined to punish us such rudely then..then why u made us? why??

nidhi felt her trembling hand nd sweating body as she couldn't digest the truth yet!

...chach..chacha ji ap mujhe ak glass pani denge,pls!

...haan beti! abhi laya!

hk rushed to get water. nidhi gulped it down in one go! she sat silently for sometime to control herself...nd then asked hk'chacha ji! dr. ashutosh kaha hain??

...wo terrace par hain! shayaad andhere mein apna aasoon chupane ki koshish karraha hain!

...ghar mein aur koi nehi rehta? matlab meine ap dono k siwa kisi aurko nehin dekha?

...haan beti! ashu baba ke baba dr. mathur aur unki bahen rehti hain yaha! ashu baba ke behen aur bhai bhi hain! mathur sahab aur unke behen tirth mein gaye hain! aur baaki ke log apne zindegi mein busy hain! kisike liye kisike pass waqt nehin!! jab tak bahu thi ye ghar ghar tha...abto mano sirf ak bejaan makan hain!!

...chacha ji mein...mein dr. ashutosh se mill sakti hoon?

hk stared at her sometime then nodded in agreement'jao, beti! ashu baba ko bhi shayaad kisise baat karne ki jarurat hain!!

Ashu stood alone at the edge of the terrace glaring in the dark when nidhi came there ! she saw a teddy bear in his hand which he clutched nd hugged close to his heart! she could fell his trembling body though due to darkness his tears were still hidden! she slowly approached to him and called him from behind'dr. ashutosh!

ashu didn't look at her just kept staring in the darkness...nidhi came beside him but didn't utter further word!! sometime passed just like that then suddenly nidhi heard ashu saying'apko pata hain nidhi! meri arohi aj pura din mere saath baat nehin ki! usse lagta hain...lagta hain ki mein uski mummy ko firse khodiya!!

nidhi saw a faded smile in his face! she didn't know why she can fell his pain...and which was hurting her also! she couln't find word to console him...so she kept quite! then again ashutosh said'apne subah kaha tha na that i am very lucky that i have such a cute baby! but may be i'm not enough lucky to keep her with me untill my last breath! my..my arohi ! i can't protect her..i can't make her relief from her pain... i can't give her mummy back!!

...dr. ashutosh! ap pls..pls sambhaliye apko! u r a doctor also...nd u know that medical science has achieved new glory now... there is treatment...nd we can't loose hope!'nidhi was saying those words as if she was trying to save her own child from d cruel diseases ...as if she was not ready to except the truth...as if determind to gain her daughter from the unkind god!

...apko lagta hain nidhi ..lagta hain ki sab thik hojayega? meri arohi mujhe chod kar kahin nehi jayegina?'ashu looked at her in deep her eyes as if trying to find reassurance that all would be well at end!!

...yes dr. ashutosh! sab thik hojayega! arohi kahin nehin jayegi! hum use kuch honehi nehin denge!

nidhi gave him a reassuring smile! nd for the first time she saw some light of hope in his eyes! some hope that he lost somewhere in all those days!

...thank u, miss nidhi! thank u very much! maine apko bahot taqleef di! itne raat ko mere saath leaya! par i..i was helpless! arohi mujhse baat nehi karrahi thi..mujhe..mujhe kuch samajh nehi aaya! aur ajanak uski tabiyaat bhi kharab hogayi!!

...it's..it's ok dr. ashutosh! i can understand!

...apko pata hain meri patni bhi kabhi kisise haar nehin manti thi! kissise bhi nehi! aur shayad issiliye bhagwan ne use apne pass bula liya! warna shayaad apni beti ke liye unse bhi lad leti! ... ab apko ladna hain dr. ashutosh!'saying that nidhi looked at ashutosh who seemed lost some other world! then again a sudden silence covered them...they lost their word nd stood there on the terrece...both were lost in their own thought...thought of their miserable life...but then all of their thoughts nd anxieties ended on arohi...the tiny life who didn't know even the meaning of death..now she is on the edge of death!

they didn't know how many times they spent there on the terrece just like that...their thoughts ended when hk came there to call them as arohi woke up nd searching for her mother! nidhi rushed to her room...seeing her there arohi gave her a bright smile! the little tiny face lighten up with happiness ! nidhi came near her bed nd told her'to meri jaan, uth gayi??

arohi nodded her head quickly! nidhi smiled at her nd said again'ap mere jaan ho?? sacchi mein?

Arohi once again nodded her head...nd suddenly hugged her tight'i love u, mummy!

... i love u, too! i love u too beta!'nidhi couldn't stop her tears further as she remember this baby was suffering from ...!

ashu was observing these two lady from the door...then choughed to catch their attention'excuse me! koi mere taraf bhi dekhega kya?'he made a cute face nd nidhi saw arohi was trying hard to ignore him but couldn't! a smile formed in her lips as ashu hold his ear for apology!

...i'm sorry, maa! mujhe maaf kardo,pls! ap subah se mujhse baat nehi ki! papa kya itni gandi hain?

...mummy! papa se kehdo main unse naraz hoon! aur mujhe unse baat nehi karni!

ashu looked at nidhi helplessly...so she took the situation in her hand!

...arohi beta! u r right! papa ko maaf karni bhi nehi chahiye! papa ne apka dill dukhaya hain na!

arohi nodded her head in agreement!

...par papa ne na apke liye bahot saare chocolate leaye hain! agar hum unse gussa rahein to usme hamara hi nuksaan hain! to isswar ke liye unhe maaf kar de??

nidhi saw her brighten face in the mere mention of chocolate...she looked at ashu first..then nidhi..then once again at ashu nd smiled broadly at him! that one smile was enough to give peace to his heart...ashu came to arohi nd hugged her dearly...closing his eyes!

Nidhi observed this father-daughter relation...when ashu opened his eyes nd gave her a silent thank u from the bottom of his heart!!!
