Looks like comedy is the flavour of the season. After the super success of STAR's laughter show, other channels too are hoping that comedy will bring them the much-needed TRPs. And Raju Shrivastav seems to be the man in demand. On Sony, the funny man has a comedy show of his own, and on Sahara One he will be a part of the Comedy Champions. the Sony show is on a weekend band while the Sahara One is a daily.
It's hardly two months since Naved Antulay's daily soap Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye started airing on Sahara One and it's already gone off the prime time slot. Apparently, the serial boasting of a stellar starcast beginning with Vikram Gokhale couldn't register sufficient TRPs and has been shifted to the afternoon slot. "The late night viewers were not responding to the soap but it was getting a good viewership in the afternoon. So we decided to retain it in that slot," avers Kalyan Sundaram, Programming Director, Sahara One. The 10.30 p.m. slot in which the soap was being aired is replaced by a one hour comedy show Comedy Champions. The stand-up show will have 13 comedians including the likes of Raju Shrivastav and Sunil Pal participating in it. 45 episodes of the show hosted by comedian Khayali and Jonita, have already been shot. It's on air from February 12.
