'I've Forgotten How To Act': Kritika Kamra E-mail
Kritka Kamra is name that needs no introduction. Such is her following that mere mention of her name creates a buzz anywhere. The 21-year-old Punjabi girl shot to fame with Baljai Telefilm 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai'. Unfortunately, that popularity didn't translate into TRP and the show was shut in less than a year time.

That wasn't the end of the story. In fact, this end has now given rise to new beginning. Imagine TV finally catered to the cries of the fans who longed to see their Arjun (Karan Kundra) and Arohi (Kamra) again. So, we now have a sequel to 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai'.

In this exclusive chat with TellyCafe's Mayur Lookhar, Kamran talks about 'Kitani…' sequel, first tryst with reality where she competed with beau Karan Kundra, 'Pyar Ka Bandhan' and more. The girl even joked that she's forgotten how to act.

First thoughts on 'Kitani…' coming back?

Hmm! At the moment there are none because we all are waiting to things to fall in place. We'll be meeting Ekta madam soon and that's when we'll know when it happens. At the moment, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

However, Indian TV has seldom seen any sequels. That's not happened with some of the biggest shows. You must be quite lucky.

Yes, that is true. But historically, not many sequels have worked either in films or TV. There's lot of anxirty not just among the viewers but also among actors who are pondering about the new series.

Has this dream turned into reality purely on the wishes/prayers of your fans?

Absolutely! It's they who wanted it back and the channel finally had to listen to them. The fans though will have higher expectations from all of us.

So, what can we expect from Arohi in the return series?

Well, I have a long list of expectations. Though, we will remain as Arjun and Arohi, the sequel is likely to have a completely new story. Personally, I'd like my look to be very urban. Though people loved her old look, but somehow I didn't I like Arohi's earlier look.

What's been the talk between the two of you over Kitani return?

Frankly speaking, nothing. Karan is currently occupied with a few other things. Thus, we haven't got the chance to speak much on it. Were both are waiting for thing to progress.

We've received hundreds of comments from fans who are simply ecstatic to read the news. Would you like to give any message to your fans on TellyCafe?

A huge thanks to all of you. It's wouldn't have been possible without your support. A lot of our (online) fans are NRIs, Pakistanis, and other Asians. Unfortunately, overseas viewership doesn't count.

Looking at their reaction, do you sometime wonder that the fans are simply in awe of the two of you more than the show?

Usually, the popularity of TV actors ends with the culmination of the show. It was totally opposite for us. I feel we're still more popular as Arjun-Arohi than Karan and Kritika.

As a fan myself, I'll think twice before writing or maligning anything to my favourite movie star. TV is an exception here. Viewers can easily connect themselves with the actors. Besides, with the help of media, we can connect easily with our fans. This connectivity doesn't exist in Bollywood. I'm really overwhelmed by their love.

Does such fanaticism put more pressure on you to deliver in the sequel?

This expectation isn't just from me, but all actors, producers, and the channel. Personally, I too expect the show to be much better this time. I'm sure Ekta will bring in new flavor, a new story, and new characters to the fore.

'Pyar Ka Bandhan' failed to last long. Was it a stop gap arrangement for you?

No. I'd signed for 'Pyar Ka Bandhan' before 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai'. Besides, I don't think that the show failed completely. Hoever, I had faith in Ekta who defiantly must have seen something to offer a role here. 'Bayttaab Dl Kee Tamanna Hai', the other Balaji show on Sony that launched simultaneously, was promoted much more than 'Pyar Ka Bandhab' but it went off air before us. We, at least, lasted for an appreciable period of time.

Be it 'Pyar Ka Bandhan' or 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai', both these shows were inspired by popular Bollywood films. Could this be a reason for the two shows not achieving great success?

Look most scripts have been covered on television. Kitani was said to be inspired by Taal and even Veer Zara. No serial can be entirely based on a film. It's simply impossible to adapt a three hour film into 250–300 episodes. TRPs play a key role in determining the tracks. At the end of the day, we're just making what the people want. In spite of the similarities people hugely appreciated 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai'.

Coming to 'Zara Nachke Dikha 2', the girls have won again. TV is meant for the ladies, who will only like to see the fairer sex win. Aren't the poor boys at a handicap here?

Actually, going by the target audience they should all like the men to win. So, we were at a handicap. I can't comment on what the channel or the producer wants. Without sounding biased, the girl deserved to win. Deep down in their hearts the boy too will acknowledge this fact. Besides, it wasn't any individual, but the collective effort of the girls that saw them win the show.

How was the experience in your first reality show?

Very tough. A reality show is very difficult to cope up with. I'm not used to grinding it out so hard. Winning or losing was never on my mind. I'm just happy to have improved as dancer.

Were there any mixed feelings in competing with Karan Kundra?

None. We always wished that the other should win. In fact, it's not just me but other girls too were rooting for Karan. He's such a charming guy.

After 'Zara Nachke Dikha', can we expect Karanika to be part of 'Nach Baliye 5', if it comes through?

We've been asked about this by a lot of people. Look, let's be honest. Dance isn't our forte. Neither Karan nor me would like to make fool of ourselves at a bigger platform. Besides, I don't think that will be possible if once 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai' commences. We've had our tryst; it's now time to get back to acting. I've been away for sometime, and now I've forgotten how to act.
