Both have shades of gray. They are flawed just like other humans. Kabir has more flaws because of his circumstances. Business empires are not built on righteousness. Merchants were already established, Aditya Raj is pedigreed, and he deal with things in a refined way so people connect with him more. Kabir started from scratch, didn't have a formal education, the way he dealt with things was something we as an audience couldn't connect with sometimes. That doesn't make him evil. He just has more gray shades. He is more ambitious. He just wanted to be accepted like Aditya Raj. That's all.
In the novel, Kane and Abel have similar shades. And in the end, Abel will be filled with remorse when he learns the truth after Kane's death. He will realize that the animosity was just pointless.
