I don't think that the show portray Aditya Raj as the protagonist and Kabir as the antagonist.

Both have shades of gray. They are flawed just like other humans. Kabir has more flaws because of his circumstances. Business empires are not built on righteousness. Merchants were already established, Aditya Raj is pedigreed, and he deal with things in a refined way so people connect with him more. Kabir started from scratch, didn't have a formal education, the way he dealt with things was something we as an audience couldn't connect with sometimes. That doesn't make him evil. He just has more gray shades. He is more ambitious. He just wanted to be accepted like Aditya Raj. That's all.
[That's why I argued yesterday that Uncle Vish calling him Unclassy hurt him. It's very difficult to find acceptance in the society without a lineage. Remember that even Aditya Raj told Sapna that he can't accept a waiter's daughter as his DIL. People often sing paeans to the man after his demise or when his ivied progeny (Zulekha is a St. Paul product like the Merchants) succeeds in life.]

In the novel, Kane and Abel have similar shades. And in the end, Abel will be filled with remorse when he learns the truth after Kane's death. He will realize that the animosity was just pointless.

No one is wrong... only their fate has changed their courses... hence its rightly given the title KISMAT... It is a thorough blend of misunderstandings...

would it be safe to say that: Kabir made his own ''kismat'' while Aditya had kismat when he inherited his business? Do I make sense? 😕

But Adi played by the rules, while he had money he was passionate about what he was doing- business and so was Kabir- but passionate about power and money which he obv. didn't have in his childhood.
