The Story of Preet & Meher
Now this is the story all about how
2 people's life got flipped turned upside down.
I'd like to take a minute,
Go ahead and pull up a chair,
And I'll tell you a story about Prince Preet and his wife Meher...
Not too long ago, in a land not too far away, there lived a King named Lalit Juneja.
King Lalit was very rich indeed.
He had built a hotel Empire to accomplish this deed.
Daughters he and Queen Gaytri had 2
There was Wise Kulraj who was married to Kiran Jiju,
And little Veera who was addicted to shopping and shoes.
Sons King Lalit and Gaytri had 3.
Prem, Herman, and of course our hero Preet.
Prem's marriage had been fixed to Heer when he was a child.
Herman was having an affair on the side.
And Preet...well, he was busy making every second of his freedom count.
Life was good. Yes this was true,
But there was one more thing King Lalit needed to do,
Make good on a promise he made to his best friend Ballu.
He talked things over with Gaytri and both agreed,
The time was right for the children to hear their decree.
King Lalit gathered his children and told them to remain humble and close to their roots.
Prem nodded obediently, as if he was in cahoots.
Herman worried about his stocks, should he sell some of his shares?
Prince Preet rolled his eyes. Big deal, he thought. It's not like Dad's growing some hair!
Then King Lalit announced the really big news.
To Prem would Ballu's daughter be wed.
They were leaving Canada, and making India their home instead.
He brought them back to his homeland, Ludhiana.
(Okay, his actual homeland was Ambala, but he got a better deal on a mansion in Ludhiana.)
King Lalit wanted to see Ballu right away.
Little did he know his best friend had passed away.
Homeless and orphaned, Ballu's daughters Heer and Meher came to Ludhiana to share their grief.
Any hope of getting help was but brief.
Their Evil Chachee Daljeet had gotten there first.
Prem and Heer's wedding was a dream bubble she was determined to burst.
Daljeet let the girls into the Juneja Mansion for a price,
As long as they stayed they would remain in disguise.
Heer found a job and worked outside.
Meher was reduced to servitude and had to swallow her pride.
Then the Prince and the Pauper met for the first time.
Prince Preet accused Meher of stealing!! Not very nice!!
She only protested with words and tears.
Me...I would have been like...FATAK!!
That's right Preetu...there would have been some major ringing in your ears.
Of course, Preet did the right thing and apologized,
But only because his brother Prem was standing outside.
Slowly but surely, the tables turned,
Meher and Heer's true identities had now been learned.
The evil Chachee's plots had all but failed.
She and her husband were lucky not to be jailed.
Finally, peace came to the Junejas' land.
Preet's heart settled on a Diva and a Toothpick asked for Meher's hand.
Wait! Something's wrong with this picture, I cried.
I thought you were friends and Love=Dosti. Isn't that what KJo picturized?
Why would Preet and Meher pick other partners heaven knows?
It was obvious the ones they had chosen were foes.
At this point...Me...I'm staring at my screen with disdain,
Thinking someone please lend them some glasses, and also a brain.
You think I'm being harsh? Don't be so quick to judge!
The toothpick was only using Meher...that stick in the mud!
No one bothered to notice, except Preet did notice her pain.
He gave Meher reassurance, and even gave her a hug in the rain.
So sweet was Prince Preet...Don't know about Meher but I was in love.
But I still wish he had given Herman a kick and a shove.
Weddings were about to take place everywhere,
Prem with Heer, and Herman with Meher.
(Excuse me one minute...cough cough spit spit)
Suddenly, tragedy struck the Junejas and Prem was declared dead.
And Evil King Rampal reared his ugly head.
He attacked the Junejas' Kingdom and began to take over.
The once Prince Preet turned into a Pauper.
It's everyone for himself Herman, the toothpick declared.
Abandoning Meher for Maya on the wedding day was his ultimate dare.
(Stupid move what can I say)
With nothing to offer her other than his name
Preet asked Meher to marry him, this was no game.
The family was happy with the decision, their sacrifice had saved the day.
But Preet and Meher would have hell to pay.
The Diva turned into a Dayyan and Evil Chachee returned.
Preet and Meher were tortured, but they remained steadfast and firm.
They worked hard and everyone else did too,
To put the family back together, with love as their glue.
Then Prem was suddenly found to be alive.
Happiness returned and the Junejas said good-bye to strife.
