| | | | Cooking up a deal: Sanjeev Kapoor | Though details are under wraps, it is reliably learnt that celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor is all set to launch a TV channel devoted to food. The channel will run 24/7 and will concentrate on all things related to food, cooking and more.
It's happening
It is also learnt that a couple of months ago, Kapoor appointed a research agency to determine the feasibility of a stand-alone, food-based channel. And the results were extremely reassuring.
Says a source, "Work is definitely on in that direction. Talks are on with an international broadcaster and the channel will be beamed worldwide. As it is Indian food is relished worldwide, so this channel will make it an even more sumptuous affair."
Multiple course deal
Kapoor, who became a household name with the Zee cookery show Khana Khazana, has also penned a host of cookbooks. His affable and chatty style became his trademark, and Khana Khazana is considered among the country's most successful cookery shows.
Adds the source, "There is a veil of secrecy about the channel as the people associated with it want to talk about it only when it is all ready — on the table and ready to be served."
The channel will be like a food network. Besides recipes and styles of cooking, there will be the history and knowledge of food, health and nutrition and other entertainment based concepts of making food fun.
Adds the source, "With food, the possibilities are endless. There could also be a reality show on cooking with celebs!"
Other interests
When asked about his latest endeavour, Kapoor says, "At this stage, I cannot say anything."
He'd rather talk about the new season of the Sony show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, in which he participated last year. "I am looking forward to watching it. I continued with my dance classes even after the show. In fact, now I am even taking music classes. I am looking at even singing!" says the enthusiastic chef |
