Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the KBC forum but I had to make this post to vent out some frustrations.
I was watching the episode last night and it just bothered me so much how they wasted so much time on the show.

- I find it really annoying that they show this five minute AV of the contestant and their family. It wastes so much time! And why do they even need to do that?

-It's just weird how Amitabh Bachchan talks to the family sitting in the audience and they all talk about their poverty levels. I feel they should just play the game! Why do we need to see their life stories and see contestants cry on the hot seat.

- It's just ridiculous when the host calls the home and talks to the contestant's parents. What's the need for all this? The majority of the show is taken up by praises of Amitji and talking about their personal lives!

I watch Who Wants to be a Millionaire (the American version) and they move so much faster. They get through more people and do more questions compared to KBC.

I don't mean to offend anyone but watching KBC was more like a drama to me.

I agree somewhat with the views you've expressed. It was just simple when it was just a game show. But now there is soo many other things happening that it' just drags it along. Also i think since they've changed the whole contestant thing where the 10 contestants stay for 1 week (the 4 days the show airs) they have to include all these things. Therefore they have included these videos to use that time there.

I wish it was just like the old one where they just introduce the people and it's more fun to watch it that way. They've kind of reduced the hassle of having new contestants on the show everyday and compensated that with having an AV on each of the contestant instead.

One more thing is the break, it just reveals everything. Who will come on next and how long the person is likely to stay. There is no surprise element left. But still it is an entertaining watch and I hope they cut down on wasting time and get more people to win more money.

It's ok to show something about the person's background. Maybe it would be enough if Mr Bachchan just mentioned something about the person and asked a few questions to the contestant about his/her personal life/ambition/hobbies.
But I found that it goes too far sometimes....like the Allahabad lady(don't remember her name)...she was talking non-stop about sharing a balcony with neighbours etc and I found that a bit too much. It was rather surprising that she was talking so boldly in front of Mr Bachchan - a very respectable celebrity much older in age.
I think going too much into personal details and sob-stories should be avoided.

I didn't think she was being disrespectful, she was just herself. I agree she has a strong, aggressive personality and says too much but I think she meant it with good intentions. Not to be rude or anything.
I don't mean to be rude by my next comment but I just don't understand how people from these remote villages even know about KBC. If they don't have electricity in their village, who told them to come on the show? Undoubtledly, the contestants are smart and good at the game but I just have a disconnect with the people from those villages sometimes.

Yeah - I'm not trying to say anything against Amitabh Bachchan but I just don't like the format because it's too slow. There is more drama and not enough questions.
But there is one thing, KBC is always about the actors! I mean, every contestant wants to hug BIG B, saying how great he is and that he is the best actor in the world. What's the need to constantly praise him? They need to get a grip and play the game. Even the "experts" are there to promote their movies. What are the bollywood celebrities an expert in? And, it was just ridiculous when BIG B interrupted Bipasha Basu who was praising the contestant to tell her she is so beautiful and stunning! Is that what KBC is really about?

The present format doesn't mean fewer questions. They have introduced a time limit till one reaches 3.2 Lakh, so those questions are proceeding really fast. In the previous format, we had contestants pondering over questions even at 10K, 20K etc.
Because there is a time limit for answering questions, they are able to introduce some chit-chat between Mr Bachchan and the contestant, which is to some extent scripted. Obviously Mr Bachchan doesn't know about the contestants, so he has probably been given the questions he has to ask.
