That is the sad truth UKG. We may think it might only be prevailing in rural areas. But no. From my own experience & in the case of how my parents have been (especially my father), i can tell you that unless & until the girl have been treated as their daughter from the start itself, this thought of apna paraaya can keep popping up in our minds. It is not because of any sort of bitterness; rather it comes up as if it is a registered fact in Indian families.😆 Then, when grandchildren are born, the hierarchy again changes. It will be grandson/daughter, son and then daughter-in-law. The only difference now is that since nuclear families are on the rise, such face to face situations doesn't arise much.
