FLY with Manish Goel

The actor launches Future Lies In Youth (FLY), an organisation that counsels students to beat exam-related stress

When it comes to utilising their spare time constructively, celebs can learn a thing or two from Manish Goel. The actor prefers to use his free time by supporting a cause he feels strongly about.

Manish has launched an organisation called FLY (which stands for Future Lies In Youth) that will offer counselling to school students to help ease the exam tension. "Of late, I've been reading about kids committing suicides due to the pressure of scoring good grades. The pressure can be parental or from teachers. I understand that education is a competitive field and parents want to see their kids doing well in life. But such expectations play havoc on their innocent minds and lead to unfortunate suicides. The number of suicides is growing daily. As a citizen of this country and above all being a father myself, I feel very strongly about the issue," says Manish.

FLY is already in talk with leading schools in Mumbai. The Guru Harikrishen school at Santacruz and Swami Vivekanand School in Chembur are some of the institutions that have agreed to join hands with the actor. "The idea to give school-going kids half an hour of counselling every week. I'm talking to schools to make this part of their syllabus," says Manish.

Besides schools, Manish will rope in celebrities who will help him establish FLY. "I know the power of a celebrity weilds," he says. "People take notice of everything they say or do. And I want to make the best use of it. I'm sure that the Nach Baliye team will offer their support to me."

As a father himself Manish is concerned about his son's future. "I'm sure there are other parents who worry about pressure taking its toll on their children's mental and physical state. Counselling will certainly help the children."

On the professional front, Manish is in the process of giving final touches to the film script he has penned. "I want to start my own production company but I know it's not going to take off immediately." The actor has also been receiving many TV offers but is not in a hurry to take them on. "The first time you hear a script it sounds exciting and then you feel it wasn't actually all that great. I guess I have great expectations from myself," he says.
