Part 14

Bani turned away from her reflection to look at jai. He stood up and was looking at her. Bani looked straight into his eyes and turned back to her reflection. Jai walked towards bani and stopped right behind her. She gazed at him through the mirror. Jai proceeded to tie the dori of her blouse as well as fixing the hook of her manglsutar.

J: How come u didn't eat anything for the past two days? The doctor told u to eat something as u fainted because of weakness. Bani didn't answer. She was mad at Jai. In the past two days she she visited hell and came back. The false news that he met with an accident killed her. He didn't even call her once. She was worried to death. Bani just ignored him and walked towards the door, When jai held her hand and turned her around so that she is facing him. He then slowly took a pinch of sindoor and put it in her maang.

J: Bani, eat something. U r in a very weak state. But bani just walked out of the room. Ten minues later, Jai came out, dressed in Black. But he was surprised all kinds of people getting the walia mansion ready for something. Since bani won't talk to him, he went to maasi and asked her what is happening.
J: Massi, what is happening?

M: munna, didn't bani tell u?

J: tell me what?

M just smiled: today is KC. All the bahu's are keeping a fast. And anu also came. Jai was surprised and worried.

J: but, bani shouldn't be fasting maasi.

M: Why? With a confused look.

J: Maasi, bani didn't eat anything for the past two days. And she already fainted yesterday because of that. And if something happens to her today…

M: okay munna, why don't u go tell her not to keep the fast?

J: Maasi, bani won't listen to me. She is too stubborn.

Maasi was happy to see jai so worried about bani. M: Okay, I will talk to her.

J: Thx maasi. Maasi just smiled and walked away to find bani. She found bani sitting out in the garden.

M: Bani beta. Bani looked up to see maasi come and sit beside her.

M: What am I hearing? U r keeping a fast even though u r sick.

B: Maasi, KC is something that every married woman does. And I am perfectly fine

M: But bani, u didn't eat anything from the past two days. Its not good for u to keep this fast today.

B: Maasi, ever since I was married to mr.walia, I kept this fast. And no matter what I will do it this year too.

M: but…

B: plzzzzzzz maasi.

Maasi hesitated but then said: Fine, but promise me that u will not do any work today. U will be resting the whole day. Maasi paused and the said, why don't all of u girls go somewhere today. Me and biji (dadi), we take care of everything for the evening party.

(btw, there will be a small party for KC, where ladies will come for the rituals.)
