Shiv Ki Gauri
Chapter 20
Recap: Shiv calls gauri informing of her of his return home but being evolved in a car accident shiv is taken to city hospital and the situation is revealed to prateek. Prateek informs mehen of shivs incident and to make sure gauri doesn't have to worry mehen tells gauri that shiv missing his flight will arrive a day later. She condition is only minor as described by prateek and a few hours after being admitted he recovers. On the other hand prateek carries out his routine shift and city hospital and finds that samar has also been admitted. Prateek Informs kaya of this and when shiv regains consciousness finds kaya upset and on asking simply breaks down into tears. Prateek explains that samar has undergone major surgery but a verdict on his condition has not yet been made. Even after hearing this shiv is not affected and has no feelings for samar but seeing kaya distort hurts him. Prateek consoles kaya about the situation but kaya delves into deep worry and explains that what ever may have happened in the past she still loves samar and for that she Is hating herself. She is stuck between the relationship of a sister and a wife. It is revealed that samars surgery is a success but in the process has lost his memory for good. shiv confides in prateek, telling him his worries for both kaya and gauri, prateek reassures shiv and telling him there is a way to overcome all problems. Prateek talks about how it would be possible to send samar into kapoor house as shiv allowing gauri to confront him with ease and then revealing to her that that the person she had been around was samar and not shiv and that would show gauri that there is nothing to be afraid of and it would also mean that samars sentence will be shortened for helping a medical case meaning that both kaya and samar could start fresh. After a lot of persuasion shiv finally softens to kayas pleading and agrees.

8.30 am in city hospital and today was the day prateeks master plan would go into action. Shiv had sent the night in the hospital room worrying about what was to happen today..things could easily go wrong and in a situation like this shiv kapoor was the first to keep his hopes high but this wasn't business relationships were at stake and not contracts. Whilst shiv kept his hopes up prateek and kaya had already taken the first step…
in prateeks office sat at the desk in silence was samar, next to him kaya and in deep thought prateek on the other side of the desk. Samar looked confused lost, knowing not where he was or who he was..he was hoping for an explanation which someone who looked to be a doctor in front of him would give him.
Prateek: "tumara naam samar kapoor hai, aur yey joe tumare paas behti hai woh tumari patni hai kaya."
Samar had no expression just questions, looking to the side of him he took a glimpse at the lady next to him who sat timidly in a pink saari, but he couldn't recall anything..she was his wife.? Kaya turned to samar giving an indefinite smile as if to confirm prateeks words. Baat yey heh ke im afraid you have lost your memory to the extent that it cannot be retrieved. Samar gave prateek an horrid look and in his mind couldn't take things in…kya mein kabhi nahin janaaponga ke mein kaun hoon? it was all so disturbing for him ever since he had gained contuoniess there was nothing that he came across which was familiar not even his own reflection in the mirror. Everyone he came across even the lady who was ment to be his wife was unfamiliar.
Prateek: "aise cases mein, patients ko nayee yaden banani padti hai"
Samar: "I understand doctor."
Prateek: "Sorry samar, mein doctor hone ke naate tumare leighyey aur kuch nahin karsakta."
Samar: "Mein samaj sakta hoon doctor magar aapne joe meri jaan batchayee uske leighyey mein kabhi aap ka aisaan nahin chukka paaonga."
Prateek:"Actually chukka sakte ho"according to prateek this was the right time to break into what was his aim, if he got this right nothing else could come in the way. Samar looked at prateek confused. Prateek: "Samar tumare ghar mein ek insaan hai jiski tum madat kar sakte ho."
Samar: "Mein kisi aur ko?"
Prateek: "Hah, gauri..gauri tumare patni ki behen hai"..samar took another look at kaya and then prateek.
Prateek: "She sufferers from depression, uske saath ek hadsa hua tha..sometime ago. Tum uske pati ke bhai ho twin brother..toe agar tum kuch der ke leighyey uske paati hone ka naatak karsakte ho toe..her condition will improve."
Samar: "mera bhai bhi hai?"
Prateek: "Hah..woh sab kaya tume samjadegi, so do you think you could help me. Yey tumare leighyey bhi atcha hoga, tume apne parivar ko jane ka monka miliga aur gauri ke leighyey bhi."
Samar: "Magar yey saab, I mean muje kuch yaad nahin yaha tak khud ka naam bhi nahin janta tha toe.." Prateek: "Don't worry that's what we are here for."After a little pause samar agrees and both prateek and kaya feel a sigh of relive as they confirm there success with a secretive smile to one and other whilst samar dwells on what has become for him an unknown personality an unfamiliar world.
………………sometime later in samars hospital room, kaya and samar were sat in a profound silence, there was an awkwardness between them which had been existed from the time samar had opened his eyes. Sitting at each end of the bed..there sat a photo album on the centre of the bed which prateek had suggested to help samar come in contact with his relations. Both samar and kaya looked around the stereotypical hospital room for a conversation topic but it was hard for both. Kayas mind was constantly entwining between thoughts, thought that the man she is in presence of is still her husband the man she fell in love with but it was different he clearly wasn't aware of anything and lost in his own world..it was innocence that she saw in his expression but that innocence died fast and reminded her of the past what he had done and that was the falling point for kaya where dilemma within was reinforced. What was she too do forgive him after all he didn't remember a thing from the past, torn between feelings she asked herself the same question time and time again.
On the other hand samar was lost for thoughts never mind words, what was he too say. Even though she was his wife he didn't remember a thing about her. samar tired really hard to come up with something which they could both relate to and seeing the photo album lying there….
Samar reaching towards side picks up the photo album in the form of asking if it was ok for him to view. Samar: "Yey…"
Kaya: "Hah, actually woh hamare parivar ki photo album hai..prateek chahte the ke aap ghar jane se pehele dekh le"
Samar: "I see", samar gave kaya a smile which took kaya by blown surprise and as she came to turns with the expression she hadn't seen for years, that smile which over the years had turned in a bitter expression. Kaya watched as he opened the album looking through it intrigued, moving hesitantly closer to samar, kaya shifted her self slightly to be able to view the photographs with samar and on doing so samar felt kayas movement and looking towards her smiled whilst kaya avoided looking towards him trying to explain the photograph in front of them pointing towards the portrait kaya concentrated on introducing each person in the image "Yey haamara parivar hai, yey papa, dadaji dadi, shiv bhaiya…. Kaya went through every single member and memory in each picture until samar came across a photograph of himself which he was astonished at.
Kaya: Aur yey….aap shayad office mein, looking upon a certain photograph of mehen and samar kaya informed samar of the office surroundings but samar was disturbed by something else in the photograph. Samar: yey, mein aise???, samar made note of his appearance in the photograph he looked not at all amused infact quite serious and in simple words ruff in comparison to his brother.
Kaya tries avoiding the subject and on turning the page..but samar feels that something isn't quite right and questions kaya. Samar: "kya hamari koi tasvir nahin hai, I mean saath mein."
Kaya: "actually woh hamara rishta mein kuch vakt pehle dooriya bahad gayee thi toe…"
Looking at kaya who seemed to be avoiding the subject flicking through the album samar noticed a certain sadness on kayas expresston "meri vajese? "
Kaya: Shayad kisi ki galti nahin thi, haalat hein kuch aise the
Samar: "Im sorry, mein kehne ko tumara pati hoon magar…meri yaad dash aur.. Im sorry tume kitni taklif horahi shayad mein samaj nahin paaonga magar…… samar words are interrupted when prateek walks into the room with what looked to be clothes.
Prateek: "Sorry to interrupt magar,were running out of time toe hame ab jana chahyey."
Kaya: Magar prateek, hamne abhi tak puri tara se..
Prateek: Its too late, mein chahta hoon ke jo karna hai, kuch hien ghanto mein ho jayey..gauri ko pata nahin chala chayey until mein khud aake use satchayi naa batoon. Both samar and kaya nodded agreement at prateeks words.
Prateek: "Ok, hame jana chahyey, par use pehele tume shiv jaise dikhna hai." kaya and samar looked at prateek in confusion, they were already twins how much more can he make himself look like shiv.
"Yey shiv ke kapre…change karlo aur yey bandage, nurse remove kardegi" Samar was sitting in his signature black shirt and prateek was reffering to cotton bandage around his head which was left over from his surgery the worry wasn't that gauri would have gauessed from the clothing but prateek didn't want to take and chances.
Prateek: "a change of clothes and a shave no body will notice."
………………………sometime later prateek drives in the car park of kapoor mansion.
"Ok samar yey raha kapoor, mansion. Tumara ghar." Sitting in the passenger seat next to prateek samar looks out of the window at prateeks comment and I doing so is blown away by the magnificence of the house. Looking at it quite deeply he still feels no familiarity with house.
Ok lets go, prateek kaya and samar all make there way out of the car and on doing so it becomes visible that samar really isn't aware of his surroundings as the expression on his face conveys bewilderment. Prateek looked on the bright side of this, "ab muje bhi bolne se pehele sochna padega, really…abhi bhi shiv bulane valatha mein." It was true you could have mistaken samar for shiv without thinking for a second, the suit neat and tidy look made it impossible for anyone to even deout that he wasn't shiv. The only thing that could let him down now was his behaviour. Samar began to wonder past the gates of the house towards the entrance whilst prateek took the chance of being alone with kaya to give her last minuet reassurance.
Prateek:" kaya yaad rakhna ke gauri ko samar ke saath ekele mein..i mean its important ke gauri samar ke saamne aya but be careful."
Kaya: "Mein janti hoon"
Prateek: "Good, don't worry kuch ganton ki hein baat hai phir mein gauri ko satchayee batadonga."
With that prateek leaves and kaya and samar are left to enter kapoor mansion.

Samar looked a little out of place entering the house, looking around he failed to see anything vaguely familiar and his expression made it clear that he felt a uncomfortable. Sensing it kaya prompted samar on the presence of dada dada who seemed busy in there own conversation until kaya's silent whispering could be heard and there attention diverted to the entrance of the house and seeing kaya and a person who was supposedly shiv there faces lit up with excitement.
Dadaji: are shiv beta agayey, kaya tum bhi!!!
Dadi: "atcha hua tum dono aagayey, bohot miss kar rahe the tume."
Kaya: dadaji woh gauri di kaha par hai?
Dadi: woh mandir gayee hai, abhi aati hein hoga, kyun naa tum dono fresh hojaaon aur phir baate karte hai
Kaya: ji dadi, samar cautious of saying something that could ruin everything kept quite and nodded trailing along upstairs with kaya.
Taking samar upstairs..kaya discreetly took him around the house…
Kaya: "ok samar yey shiv aur gauri ka kamra hai", walking in samar looked around at the rooms surroundings.
"make sure tum aisa kuch maat karon jise gauri ko koi shaak ho", shiv ki kuch aadate hai… but It was too late..gauri had already overheard. Samars expression froze to a blank as he overlooked kaya to see gauri standing at the entrance of the room…she had overheard everything..???? noticing samars frozen expression kaya turned around to be faced by a shocked gauri. "gauri vaisa nahin jaaisa tum soch rahi ho..gauri..
"Gauri, Meri Baat suno…………
Gauri, gauri, gauri …ankhen khohlo gauri"
Gauri opened her eyes faintly to be faced with prateek and confused at her surroundings fights with herself to tell prateek she was aware of everything that he is samar and not shiv.
Gauri: "prateek mein jaanti hoon ke woh samar hai, samar hai woh"
Prateek: "its ok gauri, your fine now..lagta hai tume koi bura sapna aagaya"
When Gauri finally swept her self what was reality and in doing so found her self partially slouched on the sofa what was she doing there…? Confused she tried hard to get her words across to Prateek who was sitting looking rather content offering her a glass of water.
Gauri: "aapne mere saath aisa kyun kiya..meine kaya ki baat suni woh." Prateek noticed gauris flustered and upset expression and smiled.
Prateek: "Gauri it was just a dream, jab mein yaha aaya tha tab tum so rahi thi, shayad shiv ke intaasar mein..aur aachanak se kuch bol ne lagi..shaayad bura sapna. So meine tume uthaya."
Gauri looked at prateek confused, she had fallen asleep?
Prateek: "Aur ajeeb si baat kar rahi thi mein samar ko yaha laya?? Kash shiv muje aise kuch karne deta..not a bad idea." Prateek added a smile along with his comment and really seriously wondered why he didn't think of that Idea but then again.shiv would never agree. Prateek carried on smiling relaxingly waiting whilst gauri came back into the real world.
Gauri: "Toe Mr kapoor ka accident prateek?, unka accident woh.." prateek stopped gauri part way, none of it was real and it made no sense to him.
Prateek: "Muje toe kuch samaj nahin aarah..kis accident ki baat kar rahi ho?. Shiv toe abhi tak vapas aaya hein nahin. Gauri sirf atha ganta hua hai, mehen uncle abhi abhi office gayey hai aur shiv kisi bhi vakt aaraha hoga driver gaya hai lene use jab mein yaha aaya toe mehen unclue ne kaha ke tum shiv ka intassar kar rahi ho..magar tum toe shaayad intasar karte karte so gayee."
Prateek: "Lo pani peelo, u'll feel better" prateek put the glass of water in front of gauri for the third time..gauri couldn't belive it..it was all a dream?? A feeling a relief came through her when she realised that nothing of the sort had happened..she was waiting for shiv and had dozed off. Just as gauri had come to turms between reality and imagination the shock was still wearing away when.. prateeks eyes fell on shiv who was standing perfectly naturally at the entrance of the room and seeing prateek and the glass of water situation comments with a smile walking into the room.
"Yey yaha kya ho raha hai?"
"tum toe mera intaazar kare wali thi naa gauri?
Hearing shivs voice, gauri's face lit up and all her worry is overdriven with the feeling that shiv was alright and none of what she had thought of was true and as prateek had said it was bad dream. Gauri was overwhelmed and that feeling within her came in the form of silent tears hidden under a expressive smile which became apparent when seeing shiv. shiv fails to notice gauri expression, he was busy making a note of the situation and emphasizing the fact this his best friend was doing his job…
"Pehele kehdiya hota toe mein itna rush karne nahin aata. Yey soch ke aaya tha ke tumne kuch khaya nahi hoga magar….yaha toe"
Gauri couldn't hold herself any longer, overflowed in emotions gauri was unknown to her actions and crossing the pace between herself and shiv finds herself clinging to shiv in an embrace and shiv too surprised could feel gauris tight embrace onto his chest, confused by her approach towards him moves to bring her closer into a full enfold…"Gauri mein toe sirf masak kar raha tha, mein janta hoon ke tum mera intasaar kar rahi thi" looking over the top of gauri who was still tightly hidden within his chest shiv took a glance towards prateek to as what the matter was and in response he received confused shrug and a slient lip sink which just about made out as.. "bu-ra sa-p-na" he still didn't quite understand but feeling of seemed to be gauri's tear droplets on his shirt gave him the feeling that the wait for both of them had been ordeal for both of them..a smile became expressive on shivs face with the thought of what he had been waiting upon for days or who he had been waiting to see finally she was in his arms and what ever it was shiv had received the warm welcome he was hoping for, taking gauri closer into his arms shiv gave gauri all the security, comfort and love she had longed for in his absence.

of shivs arrival in the last chapter...was just our gauri dreaming. no accident no samar no nothing...just gauri waiting her shiv..sorry for stringing you along
