Shiv Ki Gauri

Chapter 14

Recap: Prateek and Shiv head off for work and during there journey shiv tells prateek about his feelings his feelings for gauri and tells him that he came just at the right time to spoil things..shiv insists that they stop off somewhere for his morning tea and prateek agrees on the other hand gauri and kaya are also travelling gauri lost in Shiv's thoughts kaya awakens her to ask her if its ok if they stop off at the coffee shop and gauri agrees. Both gauri and kaya are at the coffee shop and kaya persuades gauri to talk about her thoughts on shiv and her dreams on her perfect life partner when shiv turns up and listens to the converstion secretly. Shiv goes to order his drink and just as he does he bumps into a lady and coffee Is split over both of them, the lady turns out to be gauri but unaware that she was talking to shiv she angery responds with insults for ruining her saari until she finds that is shiv and is put on the spot feeling nervous, shiv doesn't react he simply walks away with a smile. Later on shiv is sat day dreaming, in his office and strangely asks for all meetings to be cancelled and calls prateek instead.

Phone Conversation:

Shiv: "Prateek, shiv speaking…."

Prateek: "hi …Kya baat hai???"

Shiv: "will you do me a favour Prateek?"

Prateek: "depends what this favour involves????"

it is 8.30pm and Gauri returns home to kapoor mansion after having spent a busy day doing a countless amount of shopping visiting every single store with force from kaya and not to mention the whole encounter with shiv, spilling coffee and having to buy a new saree just so she could get change and as a result was now standing in a pink saari not too much to her liking It was more kaya's influence more than anything else.

Gauri was exhausted and the tired expression taking over her face was portraying it all.

The day as well as being tiring had been so strange she had never had such a hectic birthday but her Initial worries throughout the day had seemed faded leaving her with a content smile. As she stepped into the house she saw It was silent and there was no one to be seen, when raamu kaka comes past she stops him part way.

Gauri: "kaka!, woh ghar mein saab kaha gaye??"

Kaka: "Patanhi beta par, shiv sahab upar aapka intasar kar rahe hai, unone kaha hai ke jab aap aye aap ko batadu..unka kuch zaruri kaam hai aap se."

Gauri thinks for a second before responding "zaruri kaam???, ok theek hai." Rammu kaka leaves, gauri dwells over the situation for a minute thinking about what shiv would want from her? kahi woh subhe??? She recalls the whole morning encounter with shiv, her apologising, drinking juice from his hands and then being interrupted. When she thought about it sense of fulfilment filled her she had managed to open up to shiv and apologise even if it was indirect it was an achievement , she was happy that he had accepted her apology..??? or had he..and if so what was the important thing that he wanted from her, maybe there was more to it…

Gauri: "syaayad ..woh kuch kehna chahte the…" what ever it was there was only one way to find out. She walked up the staircase, down the corridor towards shiv's or even her and shiv's bedroom to see the door was propped open and she waited at the entrance for a second before entering. There was still that slight concern and hesitation when It came to approaching Shiv and it was clear from the way she would nervously conduct herself. Waiting a second or two she knocked on the door but there was still no response she took a step into the room to see the room at her relieve is empty. Until the door of the wash room opened with a thud and gauri's eyes fell in the direction of the wash room door to see shiv's masculine figure walking out driping in water wearing nothing but a towel and gauri was stunned and before she could react Shiv had caught Gauri looking at him and as there eyes locked for a moment shiv was intensely staring into Gauri's eyes with a certain sparkle a a passion as well as a hint of mischief.

Gauri could sense shiv's glair and began to blush uncontrollably scattering her eyesight around the room where as Shiv was well aware that the situation would embarrass her and was enjoying every minute of it. Gauri could not take it any longer briskly turned around to avoid shiv and began fidderling with her saari pallu nervously.

Shiv smiled cunningly walking towards his wardrobe…

Shiv: "Vaise pati hoon tumara, dekh sakti ho…I really don't mind"

Gauri: ji????

Shiv: Never mind..vaise tumara kya khyal hai..blue ya green

Gauri: Jee???

Shiv: tie..kaun si tie…blue ya green

Gauri: "Woh..blue"

Shiv: "Vaise chahe toe ab dekh sakti."

Gauri turned around to see shiv stood in a partially buttoned up shirt looking through a rack of ties.. shiv picks up the tie and swings it around his neck and begins to knot his tie …vaise kuch kaam tha gauri? Shiv turns around to the mirror to fix his tie while keeping more of a watch on gauri.

Gauri: Ji woh..raamu kaka keh rehete ke aapko kuch zaroori..zaroori baat..

Shiv: Yes magar aise nahi

Gauri was confused, "aise nahi????"

Shiv: "Tum pehle ready ho joan phir baat karte hai, I mean you must be tired freshen up."

Gauri wasn't understanding but didn't question Shiv, instead walked out of the room and into the guest room. Walking Into the room she noticed something on the bed and taking a few steps closer she noticed a deep blue saari and placed on top of it was a note:

Tumari khubsoorati tumari saadgi mein gauri aur is khubsurati ko badane ke leiye muje is se behtar tofa nahi mila..

Shiv had gifted her a saari and for that reason wanted her to freshen up get changed.. was pleasantly surprised and as she read the note a certain coyness came over her..the same feeling she got every time she thought about shiv. Looking at the sari brought out a gleaming sparkle on her face ..it was her first ever gift from her husband and it was perfect.. Beautiful, dark blue colour, embrodied borders It was amazing and even more so as it was gauri's favourite colour. As she picked it up a familiar fragrance became apparent to her it was shiv's aroma..strong musky aftershave fragrance.. experiencing it around her brought out the very feelings she encountered every time he was around..the very same nervousness and anxiety that she would try so hard to overcome but strangely enough this time she was enjoying these feelings.. they gave her a sense of being close to him so close that even his mere fragrance had an effect on her and she thrived off the thought that she would be dressed in his fragrance…………..

As she touched up in front of the mirror Gauri looked stunning dressed in the deep blue saari which complemented her skin tone perfectly and enhanced her natural beauty..her face was glowing even more than usual and there was a certain glow in her eyes which looked as if it sparkled with the thought of shiv. Gauri applied her sindoor (vermillion) and mangalsutra and then made her way out of the room across the corridor towards shiv's room …

"pata nahi kya kehna chahte.." gauri tought to herself and the more she dwelled on it the more worried she became. She knocked on the door of the room and paused outside for a reply. She knocked again but there was no reply... and there seemed to be no one around..she was afraid to enter and decided to walk down to the lounge… As she walked down the corridor and to the central staircase of the house she was surprised to see there was no body around at all and there were no lights…confused and not to mention frightened by the whole scenario she begins to walk down the stairs calling for everyone

"dadaji… kaka..!!! ayush uncle "sab log kaha chale gaye aur yey lights.." Just as she is about to get more agitated she hears, faint music coming from a distance….

Hulchul hui… zara shor hua…
dil chor hua… teri orr hua…
Hulchul hui… zara shor hua…
dil chor hua… teri orr hua…

Hearing music gauri stops her movement down the stairs…

the words to her much loved song don't fail to put a smile on her face…

Aisi chale jab hawa…

As she looks out into the distance of the room from where she is standing there is nothing but darkness and strings of soft music floating In the air…

Hulchul hui… zara shor hua…
dil chor hua… teri orr hua…

As she looks around to find the source of the music she sees what looks like candle light in the distance and a unclear figure slowly approaching. As the flame makes it way closer the view becomes clearer. And gauri sees shiv approaching, his face only to be lit up by a candle light, a soft smile played on his face as he approached pacing himself…taking In the beautiful view that was his wife..

Aisi chale jab hawa…
Ishq hua hi hua …

gauri couldn't help but think about what she had dreamed for years ..and its was coming true…gauri couldn't take her eyes off shiv as he approached, he had maintained that shiv kapoor flair and gauri had fallen for it..

Ishq hua…
Kadmon ko, sambhaalein, nazaron ka kya karein…
Nazron ko, sambhaalein, to dil ka kya karein…

both were lost in each others eyes and as shiv approached closer to the stairway, making his way up each stair, not moving his sight from gauri, gauri began to feel the intensity of the moment and the nervousness crept in as shiv moved closer up the stair way and stopped leaving no distance between them…

Kadmon ko, sambhaalein, nazaron ka kya karein…
Dil ko sambhaale zubaan…

Shiv was too close and gauri began to stumble with her feet…there was no where she could go, she was encaptervated in shivs presence and in no time at all both were lost in one another…

Ishq hua …

The music slowly faded away but shiv and gauri were still lost in one another until the lights were suddenly turned on, bringing both of them back…

"SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!"

There was a loud up roar from a crowd downstairs which happened to be the whole family who had witnessed the moment between Shiv and Gauri and had now completely startled them leaving gauri in a nervously startled expression but Shiv in his usual cool collective gentleman mannerism. From the top of the staircase where shiv and gauri were standing…the lounge had been decorated with white flowers and drapes and standing excitedly in a huddle around a cake were dadi, dadaji, ayush-maya, prateek-kaya and mehen all with beaming smiles..

Dadaji shouts across from the lounge upto the stair case: "aajon beta, kya vahi kadhi rahongi..cake kaun katenga!!!"

Shiv and gauri are both standing next to each other, gauri conducting her self with a usual hesitation as a result of being close to shiv and shiv carried a content gleaming expression in his usual stance with his hands tucked inside his pockets.

Shiv: "So chale.." shiv hand gestures that they make they way down stairs and gauri responds with a positive nod, making there way down walking side by side gauri concentrates on greets the family who are down in the lounge smiling at her endlessly whilst shiv passes his own comments secretly in the form of whispering in gauri's ear..

Shiv: thank you gauri… gauri looks to her side to see shiv glare and gives a edgy confused look…

Shiv smiles at gauri's reaction…mere gift accept karne ke leiye Vaise you are looking stunning..kahi ham apki is khubsurati mein kho naa jayiey

Gauri: "ji…??"

Shiv: "lagta hai ke ab bhot der hogayee…. Ab kuch nahi ho sakta"

Gauri: "ji .??. gauri wasn't understanding at all"

Shiv: "ham aap ki is kubhsurati mein is tara is kho gaye hai..ke shyaad hame pyaar hogya hai…"

Gauri was stunned..before she had time to react, they were already at the bottom of the staircase and the whole family was present….

Dadi: "Yey aap dono mein yey kya baate chal rahi hai, sara ham bhi toe sune."

Gauri was too overwhelmed and embarrassed to respond but shiv…

"gauri muje kehrahi thi ke woh mujse kitna pyaar karti hai.. isn't that right gauri" gauri was put on the spot with the whole family watching she didn't know how to react..

Shiv: "Kaho naa gauri…yehi keh rahi thi naa tum mujse…" shiv gave gauri a really cunning smile, it was all going his way and he was loving it..

Gauri: "Ji…I mean nahi woh nahi" Gauri had just stepped into it, with all eyes on her..she was on the spot and without knowing it had just admitted to telling shiv she loves him.

Dadi: "vaise is mein kaun si buri baate hai patni ho tum uski pyaar ka ishaar kar na chahiye"

Shiv: "Vahi toe mein keh raha hoon dadi…well muje toe koi itraas nahi hai…"

Dadi: "Ok bechari sharmarahi hai..shiv usko rehne do.. aur gauri beta tum cake katon"

Gauri "Ji dadi" gauri walks over to the table blows the candles out and cuts the cake…

Dadaji: "chalo ab hame cake khilao"

Dadi: "Nahi pehle shiv ko khilayegi" … gauri hesitates for a while..and shiv walks over to her.

Prateek: "hah jaldi karo khilao naa, ham logo ko bhi bhuk lagi hai.."

The rest of the family watch in anticipation as gauri picks up a slice of cake and nervously feeds it to shiv.. whilst he stares into her eyes with affection…

Shiv: Aaj tumara janamdin hai gauri aur mein chahta hoon ke tumara har sapna sach ho..magar mere kyaal se..tumara ekh sapna adhoora reh gaya…

Mene suna hai ke tumara ek sapna yey bhi hai ke..tum apne pati ke saath mein who cheese karna chahtee jo une pasand ho???

Gauri: Ji???

Gauri recalled her conversation with kaya where she spoke about the exact things and is shocked to know that shiv is aware of them.

Jo haam chahte hai, woh haam….saab ke saamne nahi kar sakte….… is leyiey mein tumara intasaar karonga ….upar hamare kamre mein …

5 minuiets…

Gauri is to nervous to respond..when

Mehen: "vaise aap dono ek dusre ko hein cake kilate rahege ya..hame bhi koi…"

Gauri realises her surrounding pulls out of her tance…

Shiv: "hah gauri baki logo ko bhi khilao naa" shiv gives teasing smile and gauri..is about to move away from him to feed the rest of the family when ….he stops her

"Gauri…paach minuite…. Mein tumara intazar karonga, gauri" tries really hard not to let her nerves take over but she cant help it..and moves away from shiv and approaches the rest of the family whilst shiv takes his leave quietly upstairs…

Everyone else was busy in there activity own Each all conducting them self as per there own characteristics prateek and kaya were busy talking and gauri joins them, mehen and ayush business talking Meanwhile… Dada and dadi are heading towards the buffet cart

Dada: "muje toe bhot bhuk lagi hai Krishna ji.."

Dadi: "is mein kya nayee baat hai "

Dadaji: "koi nayi baat nahi hai Krishnaji..magar aaj aap mein kuch baat hai…"

Dadi: "aap kya kehna kya chahte hai"

Dadaji: "Yehi ke aap kuch shayada hein kush dikhayderahee hai, subhe toe bari pareshan thi"

Dadi: "Woh aapne shiv aur gauri ko dekha..lagta hai undono ke bheech sab kuch theek ho gaya hai.dekha woh kais eek dusre se..bate kar rahe the…"

Dadaji: "Hah, Krishnaji..kushi ki baat toe hai"

Dadi: "Mein toe bohot kush hu..ab saab kuch theek hoga…aur meine unka karma bhi sajvadiya hai..undonoki nayi shuruvat…"

Dadaji: "Kya???, aap ne yey saab karne se pehele shiv ko pooncha??"

Dadi: "Nahi, is mein kya..poocha…"

…… on the other hand Prateek, kaya and gauri are having there own conversation.

Prateek: "mein janta hoon ke tume koi party nahi chahyey thi but shiv insisted so..kar naa pada..viase you cant deny your enjoying it, tumare chehre par yey muskurahat saab bata rahi hai…."

Gauri: "Thank you prateek, tum ne mere leiyey yeh saab kiya."

Prateek:"Not at all, actually yey saab shiv ne karne ko kaha…" I was just following orders. Prateek smiled at gauri.

Kaya: "vaise saab kuch perfect tha naa gauri..woh gana.." kaya gave a all knowing smile like she had revealed some secret and she had… gauri didn't give a worded response and instead gave a faint smile..

Kaya: "Vaise shiv hai kaha ??"

Gauri: "Woh…" just as she was about to answer she recalled shiv's words:

"Mein tumara intazar karonga"

Gauri: "Woh actually ek minuet mein abhi ayee"

Kaya: "Theek hai"

Upstairs in kapoor mansion..shiv makes his way down the hallway towards his room carrying a beaming smile with the thought that he would at last be able to reveal his feelings properely to gauri…but there was also a concern and drawback..gauri was venerable and was it the right thing to open up to her, after all he loved her and wanted her to recover from her depression which she was doing slowly..but could his move ruin all that???

Brushing his thoughts back he, entered his room to find it decorated with roses, flower petals covering..the bed.. and he knew dadi was responsible for this. But he didn't no what to make of it, he knew gauri was no where near ready for any of this but…one part of him wanted just that…

Gauri was making her way towards shiv's room when she bumps into mehen

Mehen: "gauri beta, tum kaha ja rahi ho..??"

Gauri: "woh bade papa..mein she points towards shiv's bedroom"

Mehen: "Acha shiv ko dhundrahi ho..ek kaam tha tumse beta"

Gauri: "ji"

Mehen: "Mene alok ko bulaya tha..magar woh abhi tak nahi aya..tumare use koi baat hue kya."

Gauri: "Nahi"

Mehen: "Its ok..mein phone kar ke dekh ta hoon" alok leaves and gauri proceeds towards the room. As she gets to the entrance ..she knocks on the door and shiv replys:

"Come in!"

Gauri slowly opens the door and enters to find shiv waiting for her standing in the centre of the room…

Shiv: andar aajaon gauri… shiv was standing In his deep blue shirt-tie and complementary suite looking as neatly handsome as usual. Gauri walking in stopped a distance away from shiv as usual conducting her self gathered with her anxious approach. Shiv smiles at gauri's hesitancy and makes his move closer..paising himself as he determines each footstep..keeping his watch on gauri as he moved closer…

Gauri had hit the extent of nervousness as shiv makes his way and stops at touching distance..his fragrance lurks around the air as he stops to look at her observing the floor nervously.

Shiv: Gauri muje dekho ..there was a pause and gauri didn't move, shiv knew gauri wouldn't look at him, but carried on

"Muje tumse kuch kehna hai gauri, patanahi hai ke mere kehne ke baad tum kya sochogi magar..ab mein apne jasbaton ko aur chupa nahi sakta

Mein tumse pyaar karta hoon gauri…l love you"

There was a stunned silence as shiv looked passionately at gauri for a response…but there was just silence…

and before any advancement was made there was a knock at the door, but it had no effect on shiv, he was continually staring at gauri.

Voice from behind the door……… it was mehen

"Gauri, muje tumse ek saroori baat karni hai beta.. !!!"

Gauri was overwhelmed, speechless, shiv's expression was deepening in intensity with every single moment..

"Again from behind the door Gauri bahar ao ek mint!!"

Gauri: "woh..papa"

Shiv: "tum kahi nahi jaaongi.."

Gauri: "Magar woh.."

Mehen: "Gauri dekho its important door kolo naa"

Gauri starts to struggle towards the door but shiv catches her wrist just as she heads for the door.

Shiv: mene kakha naa tum kahi nahi jaongi, gauri starts to look uncomfortable in shiv's grip and noticing this he lets go of her.

Mehen: Shiv!!!!

Shiv gives in and heads for the door, while gauri takes up chance to pull her self together, just as she is doing so her eyes scatter around the room and she sees the bed decorated with rose petals, she hits the extent of nervousness and fear fills her as she recalls shivs words:

"Jo haam chahte hai, woh haam….saab ke saamne nahi kar sakte….… is leyiey mein tumara intasaar karonga ….upar hamare kamre mein …"

Before she has time to be drowned in anymore concern Mehen walks into the room with shiv..

Mehen: "im sorry meine aap log ko interrupt kiya magar, abhi abhi tumare baba ka phone aya gauri..unki tabyet kuch theek nahi aur woh chahte hai ke tum une milo"

Gauri nods a yes and mehen leaves the room leaving shiv and gauri.

Gauri: Kya mein..

Shiv had a fairly disappointed look on his face but before gauri could finish her question…

"Hah tum jaa sakti ho gauri."

Gauri leaves the room, whilst shiv dwells in concern on last few minuets thinking about all the ups and downs he had seen in gauri's behaviour today..it was strange, sometimes she would be fairly relaxed like in the morning, offering her juice… with some hesitation but at least she interacted with him and now…he wasn't understanding at all. Shiv tried to brush his worries always and turned around to head for the wardrobe when his eyes fell on the rose petal scattered bed and it was then he realised the reason for gauri's extreme discomfort, she had developed the misunderstanding that he would get close to her without her consent…

Shiv's thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door.

Shiv: come in! the door opened and it was rammu kaka

Kaka: "Sahab aapne coffee mangayi thi.."kaka was holding a tray containing to cups of coffee

Shiv: "Inski ab koi sarurat nahi hai kaka, aap ley jaa sakte hai." kaka leaves the room.

………………

3 hours had passed it was now 12.30pm, shiv was at his desk supposedly working but that was far from reality..he had repeatedly checking the time every half hour as gauri had not yet returned. He picked up his phone and began dialling.

Phone conversation:

Alok picks up the phone on the other end

Shiv: "hello uncle, dad keh rahe the ke aapki taybyet kuch theek nahi."

Alok: "Vaise ab gauri milne agayi toe. mein bilkul theek hu…"

Shiv: "Kya mein gauri se baat kar sakta hu uncule"

Alok: "Hah, magar pata nahi abhi yaha thi magar hah woh syaad ghar ane ki hein baat kar rahi thi."

Shiv: "Theek hai toe mein use lene aaja ta hoon."

Alok: "Theek hai beta"

…………….

shiv reaches alok's house:

Alok: "gauri yaha nahi hai shiv"

Shiv: "Yaha nahi hai???"

Meanwhile Gauri was sat lost in her thoughts on temple staircase under the sparkle of night breese and moonlit sky..as looked up at the stars her thoughts began to wonder. ..Repeating her days experiences from her apology to the birthday party ..shiv telling her that he loves her. It was everything she wanted and still there was that horrible fear, even though she knew shiv was nothing like samar there was still the recurring hesitation that she couldn't control. It felt as if a new life was opening its doors for her she was getting pulled back into darkness.

Gauri's thoughts were interrupted when…

Shiv: "ghar chale" shiv walked over, as she was just about to stand up in acknoegement of him..he came and sat next to her.

Shiv: "kya soch rahi thi gauri??, yey ke tum ghar nahi ana chahti..meri vaje se, mein janta hoon gauri ke tum woh bed pein ful, saja hua kamra dekh kar…

"Tume yaad hai gauri jab tum ne pehli baar room mein kadam rakha tha, toe meine kya kaha tha. Ke mein yey chahta hoon ke tum theek hojoan..muje jaano pehchano. Ke mein kabhi tume kisi baat ka sor nahi dunga par mein yey chata hoon ke tum mere saath us kamre mein raho…

Us ke baad itna saab kuch hogaya ke syaad tum bhool gayee par mein nahi bhula gauri. Jo meine tume aaj kaha, ke mein tumse pyaar karta hoon gauri..yey ab ek satchayi hai gauri jo nahi badal sakti. Vaise ek aur satchayi yey bhi hai ke tum mujse bohot pyaar karti ho."

Gauri looks at shiv, like he had just revealed a heartfelt secret of hers.

"Aise kya dekh rahi ho, sach keh raha hoon na mein" gauri was doing her best to avoid answering but her love for him could be seen in her expression. Shiv lifts up gauri's chin to view her face and smiles at her shyness.

Shiv: "Sach keh raha hoon naa mein???"

After a slight pause gauri responded with a nod and shiv's expression showed that he was overjoyed whilst gauri was felt embarrassed but was forced to look into shiv's eyes. Shiv was becoming lost in gauri's eyes and he couldn't help himself, he was slowly moving closer to gauri without even being aware of it..he moved his face closer to hers..close enough to feel her and before he cloud go any further gauri had dropped her head back down in nervousness and shiv came back to his sense..there was an awkward moment between them before shiv managed to change the subject.

Shiv: vaise hame kafi der ho rahi hai..ab hame chalna chahiyey…

Gauri silently agreed with shiv and shiv got up ready to leave..

Gauri: "Mr kapoor…."

There was a silence and as shiv took the words in he realised it was gauri and with a smile turned back around immediately to face gauri who was standing behind him nervously..

Gauri: "Woh mein aapse…. thank you kehna chahti hoon"

Shiv looked at gauri with a questioning expression " kis leiye ?"

Gauri: "Agar aap nahi hote toe shyaad mein khud apni dil ki baat nahi samaj paati"

Gauri's words struck a code in his hart as he looked upon her with affection and then smiled

that was just wonderful. loved the scene between kaya and shiv at coffee bar in the first part. the second part was even better. really like the way you describe shiv and gauris character.I must say you take a long time to update but all that wait is worth it. Each and every scene is so beautifully written that i cannot describe them in words .Keep up the good work.
