Tuned into ABBA
They've lived through 'Disco fever' and still hum a note here and there. We picked a few celebs and asked them about their favourite ABBA song.
"ABBA is one of my favourite bands. I have a collection of all their albums and love all their songs. One of my favourite numbers is 'SOS'. In fact, I was quite surprised when the other day my 10-year-old son told me that he would like to go for their concert in Mumbai. He said he's heard their song, 'I have a dream...' and would love to watch them perform."
–Archana Puran Singh, TV actor
"I love ABBA 'cause it was my parents' favourite band and I grew up listening to their records. I loved the chemistry between the four and they looked lovely together. I love all their songs but my favourite is 'Dancing Queen' - that's the first video I saw. They rock!"
–Rohit Roy, TV actor
"My initiation into English music happened during my college days. That's when I began listening to ABBA's songs. They were the original pioneers of disco much before the DJs came on the scene. My favourite is 'Dancing Queen'."
–Tusshar Kapoor, actor
"I was very into English music - whether it was the Beatles, or ABBA, in the 70s. The best part about their music, and I am talking of the whole music scenario then, was that the melody existed throughout. The lyrics were really good too. My favourite is 'Money, money, money'."
–Anant Mahadevan, director
"If I had to choose an ABBA track it would be 'Dancing Queen'. It's very melodious and I like the tempo of the song."
–Gary Lawyer, musician
"My favourite ABBA song is 'Eagle'. Its a brilliant composition and the tune has a certain sonic depth to it. I really enjoy listening to it."
–Ehsaan Noorani, musician
