I am back with another update.

CHAPTER -38

Nandini's point of view:

Manik and me stayed in each other's arms for a long time.

I feel so blessed to have Manik with me always.

Even when I had given up all hope on us being together, he was still there for me and protecting me .

My thoughts were broken by Manik's words.

Manik - Nandini...

I just Hmmed without breaking the hug.

Manik - Waise to I don't have any problem in staying like this for the rest of my life but right now we need to go down.

I unwillingly broke the hug.

Even I didn't want to leave Manik but he was right we had to go down as Manik's Mom would be waiting for him at the breakfast table.

And I had a Herculean task at hand and that was to prove Nisha wrong and to bring her reality infront of everyone.

I chucked all these thoughts and looked at Manik who forwarded his hand towards me.

I held his hand and got up.

Then both of us went downstairs.

Maaji, Nisha and her mom were waiting for us at the breakfast table.

As we descended the stairs, I could see the anger in Nisha's eyes.

To fuel her anger more, I held Manik's hand.

I was in the mood for some fun so I kissed Manik's cheek.

But made sure that only Nisha saw this as I didn't want Manik to be embarrassed infront of his Mom for the open display of affection towards his wife that is me.

I was myself surprised at my act but on Seeing Nisha's reaction, I felt content.

Manik and me occupied the chairs .

Maaji served Parathas to Manik and me.

I knew that she was forced to serve me to make his son happy.

She always cared for Manik's happiness that's why she had to pretend to be good to me.

But I knew how much Manik's Mom hated me.

While eating the Parathas I realised that Maaji is a great cook. The Parathas were so yummy that I couldn't stop licking my fingers.

Everyone was eating silently when I opened my mouth to praise her culinary skills.

I said - Maaji aapke hathon me to jaadu hai. These Parathas are so yummy. I wish ke roz mujhe aisa delicious khana khane ko milte.

This turned out to be a big mistake as Nisha immediately said -

Kyu nahi Nandini... Tumhe aisa khana roz khane ko milega. But wo kya hai na Maaji to roz hi aisa khana banati hai. Kyun na aaj tum hum sab ke liye kuch banao.

On hearing this I said - Main... Par Mujhe to...

Nisha - Mujhe to kya Nandini... Tum apni saas ke liye itna nahi karsakti. Haan Agar tumhe khana banana nahi aata to wo alag baat hai.

Then it was Maaji's turn who

said - Arey aise kaise khana banana nahi aata. Ab ye bachchi thode hi na hai. Ye shadishuda hai. Khana pakana to aata hi hoga... Kyu Nandini ???

I didn't know what to say.

I just nodded my head and gave a faint smile.

Nisha - Ok fir done. Aajka lunch tum banaogi.

I didn't know what to say so I looked at Manik and he being the ever caring person came to my rescue.

Manik - But Nisha aaj to Nandini ka birthday hai. Aur aaj ke din wo kaam kare aise kaise ho sakta hai. I mean it's her day today. Let her enjoy it. Aur rahi baat cooking ki to don't worry, Nandini kal zarur sabke liye breakfast banayegi.

Manik looked at me and blinked his eyes in assurance.

I knew that Manik was trying to save me but he didn't know that he was pushing me into even more deeper trouble.

I didn't even know the ABCD of cooking and Manik was expecting me to cook breakfast for the entire family.

I could feel Nisha's gaze on me while I ate my breakfast.

After finishing breakfast, Nisha and me went to the kitchen to clean the kitchen.

As soon as I entered the kitchen, Nisha said - Aaj to Manik ne tumhe bacha liya. Kismat achi hai tumhari. But zyada Khush mat ho. Har baar kismat sath nahi deti. Mujhe pata hai ki tumhe khana banana nahi aata Ab kya karogi Nandini. Kal Maaji ko pata chal jayega ki tumhe Kuch nahi aata.

She started her non stop talks and I had to put an end to it. So I said - Don't worry About me Nisha. Tum apni fikar karo. Mere baare me fikr karne ki koi zarurat nahi hai. Aur rahi baat kal ke breakfast ki to wo to mai bana hi loongi aur Maaji ko pasand bhi aayega.

Nisha laughed on hearing this.

She has such an evil laugh.

I felt like scratching her face with my nails but controlled myself as she was carrying an innocent life within her.

How can anyone be so evil.

Nisha was so cunning that neither Manik nor Maaji was able to read through her double masked reality.

And the interesting thing was even her own mother didn't know about Nisha's true colours. Or did she???

Uhhh... It's so complicated.

I need to calm down or else I will have to see a psychiatrist to understand this twisted character of Nisha and her Mom.

And as soon as I thought about Nisha's Mom, there she enters the kitchen.

Phewww...

And as soon as I thought about Nisha's Mom, there she enters the kitchen.

Nisha's Mom- Nisha Beta tum kitchen me kya kar rahi ho? Tumhe to rest karna chahiye na. Aur tum dono kya baatein kar rahe the.

Nisha - Kuch nahi Mom. Mai to bas Nandini se puch rahi thi ki aaj uska birthday hai to usne kya plan Kia hai.

Nisha's Mom- Oh I see. Kya plan karegi Beta ye ... Manik ke sath kahi ghoomne jayegi aur kya???

Nandini didn't say anything and kept quiet.

Swara - Nisha Beta Chal room me. Tujhe rest ki zarurat hai.

Saying this Swara along with Nisha went away from the kitchen.

After giving medicines to Nisha and asking her to take rest, Swara went to Nyonika's room.

Nyonika - Behenji aaiye na. Kuch kaam tha kya mujhse???

Swara - Samdhanji apse Kuch poochna tha?

Nyonika - Haan poocho na...

Swara - Apko nahi Lagta ki us ladki ke janam din Par usey Kuch tohfa dena chahiye.

Mera Matlab ye hai ki kahi is baat ko lekar aage usne Manik ke kaan bhare to ??? Khamakha Manik ke dil me ye baat ghar karjayegi .

Nyonika - Manik aisa nahi hai. Chahe Kuch bhi hojaye Uske dil me mere liye bahut izzat hai.

Swara - Par fir bhi... Log to baate banayenge na.

Nyonika thought for a while and said- Theek hai Agar aap kehti ho to de deti hoon Kuch gift.

Saying this,Nyonika got up and went to the Locker to take out her jewellery box.

At the same time,Manik entered Nyonika's room.

Manik - Maa aap kya kar rahi ho???

Nyonika - Acha hua Manik Tum aagaye . Mai Nandini ke liye gift Nikal rahi thi...

Manik looked at the jewellery box and said- Maa iski kya zarurat thi...

Nyonika - Zarurat hai... Warna tumhari patni mujhe taane maaregi ki Maine usey Kuch bhi nahi diya Uske birthday Par.

Manik - Maa aap bhi na... Anyways it's so sweet of you to give this to Nandini. Par Agar aap apne haathon se usey dengi to usey Acha lagega.

With this Manik called Nandini and said- Nandini Dekho Maa tumhare liye kya gift select kiya hai???

Nandini looked at Nyonika...

Manik - Arey dekh kya rahi ho. Jaake lelo Maa ke hath se unka gift.

Nandini got happy and went to Nyonika and took the jewellery box from her hand.

Then Nandini bent down to take Nyonika's blessings.

Nyonika didn't know how to react.

She had thought to give Nandini a chain or a ring as a gift but here Nandini took the entire jewellery box from her.

Nyonika couldn't take it back from Nandini as Manik was also present there and she didn't have a valid excuse to take it back.

If Nyonika said that it was for Nisha, Manik would feel bad. Or maybe even begin to hate her.

Manik and Nandini then went away from the room.

But before going,Manik looked at Swara and said-Maaji apko mujhse Kuch kaam tha kya???

Swara - Nahi to. Kyu pooch rahe ho tum aisa???

Manik - Nahi. Bas mujhe aisa...

Khair Jane dijiye.

With this he went away.

As soon as Manik and Nandini left the room, Swara said to Nyonika - Samdhanji ye kya Kia APNE... Apne saare gehne Nandini ko dediye... Aur meri beti ka kya???

Nyonika - Mai kya karti... Sab kuch itna jaldi hogaya ki mujhe Kuch react karne ka mauka hi nahi Mila. Aapne Dekha na kaise wo Nandini ne mere haathon se gehne leliya.

Swara - Bahut hi chaalak hai wo ladki. Sambhal kar rahiye ga.

Saying this Swara charged out of the room.

Nyonika self talk-

Lagta hai naraaz hogayi mujhse. Par koi nahi. Nisha ke liye mai aur gehne le aaungi. Par is Nandini ne to hadd hi kardi aaj.

In Manan room-

Nandini and Manik were looking at the jewellery given by Nyonika.

Nandini wore each piece of jewellery and looked at herself in the mirror while Manik was lost in some other world.

Nandini shaked Manik a bit and said- Manik kaha kho gaye ho aap... Dekho na ye Maaji ki jewellery to bahut hi beautiful hai.

Manik - Ofcourse ... after all meri Maa ki choice hai. Achi to hogi hi.

Nandini - Hmm... Baat to sahi hai. But ek problem hai.

Manik - What problem???

Nandini - Maaji ne mere liye itna sab kuch Kia. Mujhe bhi to Kuch special karna chahiye na ...

Manik - Haan wo to hai... Waise kya special karne wali ho tum Maa ke liye.

Nandini - Well... That's a surprise... Jo sabko kal pata chalega...

Manik - Well let's see kya surprise plan karti ho tum...

Nandini then got busy in the jewellery...

The whole day passed by...

While everyone was asleep, Nandini got up and Went to the kitchen...

She took out her mobile and searched for the recipe for Aloo ke Parathe.

Nandini took out each and every item required for it .

Then she took some atta in a vessel and poured water in it as directed by the recipe...

But as it was her first time, he poured too much water and the flour got way too sticky...

Nandini started kneading the sticky flour but didn't succeed in forming a perfect dough as shown in the recipe.

As Nandini was trying to remove the stuck flour from her hands, he heard someone clearing their throat...

Nandini's eyes widened seeing the person there...

She immediately hid her hands behind...
