OLD STRINGS TOUCHED...
ON THE FLIGHT-
Nandini had rested her head on my shoulder and it felt my strength was with me. But, still there was someone I was missing and that was my sister Ridhima. I was slightly caressing Nandini's knuckles and she lifted her face and made me look into her eyes... I knew she could feel the pain inside and I spoke to her... "Nandini, I miss Ridzi... it's been a year now we have spoken to each other... I just miss her..." Tears had welled up in my eyes...
Nandini- Manik, I know you miss your sister... I won't say everything will be fine soon... But, I know one thing that you will set everything right... You will get your sister back...
I held her hand and let my heart out in front of her... "I tried everything Nandini, but she doesn't speak to me... She was my best buddy, my support and my guide... (Angry on himself) And, I doubted her all because of that one person...
Nandini- Manik... Jo beet gaya usse hum nahi sudhar sakte... But, I have faith in you and I know tum Ridhima Dii ko mana loge...
I never knew how she always managed to give me so much strength and made me believe I could set everything right... I smiled and nodded in a YES and she rested her head on my shoulder again... I was feeling lucky to have her by my side and I showed her pictures of Ridzi, Jij's, Viaan and Samaira.
MUMBAI
On the airport we all had decided to have dinner together and got our reservations done in Hotel TAJ... I left with Nandini to drop her. We reached her apartment and I was about to get her bag out from the car and was a bit sad as I had to then head towards my flat... I heard Nandini's giggle and I gave her a stern look... "WHAT..."
Nandini- nothing... What did I do... vaise... (She came close to me)... If you want you can come with me upstairs and rest for sometime.
I got a bit pissed off with her non-stop giggling, as she knew I was getting annoyed, but then how could I miss the chance to be with her...
"Well, I have to come back to pick you up... (Stammered) Voh... voh... Trees...Environment... we should think about the environment also... You are a science student toh... You know na pollution is increasing these days and... and voh... Fuel... We should save fuel...toh..." I was feeling proud of myself to give her such a logical reason to stay back...
Nandini - Ya... Ya... Ho gaya Mr. Environmentalist... aapke uuchh vichar sun liye mene... (Pointed towards the bags and ordered Manik) Now get the bags and come fast...
She left from there and I was completely startled on the way she asked me to get the bags... I sighed and began to get the bags out and followed her... Just imagine I did all this... We both entered her flat and I muttered to myself...
"AUR KAR PYAR MANIK, DEKH KYA HO GAYA HAI TERA... MUSICIAN SE COOLIE BAN GAYA HAI TU..." Nandini turned and raised her eyebrows...
Nandini- kuch kaha tumne???
I quickly bobbed my head in a NO and she left towards her bedroom... "Thank God usne nahi suna..." I sat on the couch and had just closed my eyes when Nandini yelled my name and then came out...
Nandini- Manik... I need to visit the Departmental store... get up...
I was surprised hearing her; she really wanted me to do that... I was a bit irritated as I was sleepy... "Nandini, what do you want??? I'll ask Ramesh to get everything..." She frowned and pouted her lips in annoyance and while dialling Ramesh's number I told her... "Nandini how many times have I told you, don't give me such looks... I can't control myself..." She immediately changed her expressions and I smirked.. she handed me a list of things she needed and gave me a stern look before leaving...
EVENING
We both got ready for dinner and she was looking beautiful and elegant in a black Indian outfit... I just loved her in Indian outfits... I hugged her from back when she was applying her lip-gloss and nuzzled in her hair... "How do you always manage to look so gorgeous Nandini..." I turned her to face me and I was lost in her beautiful doe eyes... I pulled her towards me and she blushed.. I lifted her face by her chin and began to come close to her lips for a kiss, but she pushed me away... I held her hand again and said... "Nandini..."
I got close to her and shifted her hair on one shoulder... I touched her bare back and then kissed her neck... She turned and hugged me... I hugged her back and said... "Nandini, did I do something wrong..." She immediately lifted her face and looked at me with her innocent eyes...
Nandini- Manik never think like that... yeh sab... it's all new for me... So bas I am a bit nervous... (She lowered her eyes) I know I have disappointed you.
I stopped her in between and said... "Nandini, I understand... (I cupped her face and looked into her eyes) You don't have to feel sad... you never disappointed me... Infact you amazed me yesterday by giving us OUR FIRST KISS.. So always smile ok... all this can wait... (She smiled)... Chale..." and she nodded in a yes...
HOTEL TAJ
We both left towards the restaurant where FAB 5 were waiting for us... Cabir ordered starters, wine for all and orange juice for Nandini... We discussed work for some time and then my friends were back on their teasing business as me and Nandini were the new targets...
Aliya- so guys everything is fine between both of you, toh baat aage badhi hai ya nahi... you know 1st step...
Nandini and I both looked at each other as we were embarrassed by her sudden question. Of course, we had proceeded ahead and kissed each other... But, I knew Nandini wouldn't be comfortable discussing it... So I answered Aliya... "Guys... We are going to take it slow..."
I held Nandini's hand below the table and assured her with my eyes that I am there and she smiled back. Cabir understood from the way I looked at Nandini that she was a bit hesitant discussing about us with everyone... And he diverted the topic from us... He was always my saviour. We all had dinner and were all set to leave as we had decided to go for a long drive.
FAB 5 and Nandini were laughing on how they had made Aryaman run for his life... I excused myself as I got a call from our agents in Los Angeles...
I was about to finish my call when someone called me from back... I froze at my place after hearing that voice and immediately hanged up... I didn't turn to look back as I knew whom it was... Anger began to rise inside me and I clenched my fist... I was about to walk away ignoring the voice but then she tapped on my shoulder...
She traced her fingers on my shoulder and I shrugged her away from me... I warned her... "Don't do you dare touch me KAVYA..." Yes, it was Kavya... the cause of every problem in my life, she had set my world on fire and I just hated her now for that... She walked towards me with an evil smirk...
Kavya- wowww your angry eyes ufff... They are just killer as always... stop acting so rude with me Manik... I know our relationship is over but hum ache se baat toh kar sakte hai na...
I really couldn't believe I had once liked her and had ruined every beautiful relation in my life for her... I wanted to blast on her but knew it was a public place and I didn't want her to make any sort of headlines using my name...
I composed myself and spoke to her with the same evil smirk... "Of course Kavya we can... See I am so cordial..." She smiled and spoke ahead...
Kavya- So I heard you are back with your friends FAB 5... Manik why don't you understand your friends are bunch of stupid...
I interjected her in between and gave her an angry glare... "Don't... Don't you dare speak a word against them... you'll regret Kavya... I won't hear a word against them anymore... You don't know what Friendship means..."
She was a bit taken aback with my outburst... her so-called magic spell on me wasn't there and she wasn't able to manipulate my mind... "I need to leave..." She held my hand and here mere touch made me feel disgusted... I tried to free my hand from hers and she spoke to me...
Kavya- Manik... Yeh kya sweetheart you are so angry with me... I know you wanted to be with me... (She started to spit her venom) but tumhari family... goshhh they ruined it... specially your sister...
WRITER'S POINT OF VIEW-
When Kavya had tapped on Manik's shoulder Nandini was confused as FAB 5 were shocked seeing something... She asked Cabir...
Nandini- Cabir... Why do you guys look so shocked... And who is that girl with Manik...
Cabir- Nandini... She is Kavya...
Nandini was a bit shocked too after knowing that the girl because of whom Manik was about to give away his life that night was in front of her... She was angry not because she was insecure, but she remembered Manik's emotional state the night she met him in London... The reason of his vulnerable state was now in front of her...
Nandini calmed down as she thought Manik knew how to deal with his matters and she didn't think it was right for her to interfere...Someone else was also present there and observed this entire unplanned meet...
MANIK'S POINT OF VIEW-
My anger was now on its peak... "Kavya... Don't utter a word against Ridzi... I will forget you are a woman..." I tried to free my hand from hers and then I saw FAB 5 were looking at us... And then my eyes fell on Nandini... She was blankly staring at our hands... I could see she was getting hurt seeing me with someone else ...Kavya's eyes immediately travelled in the direction I was looking...
Kavya- ohhh the entire gang is here... And who is that girl in black...
I freed my hand from her and glared at her..."Mind your own business..." I was walking away when she spoke again... How could she let me be in peace...
Kavya- I wish you had said that to your sister Manik... She ruined it all... Else we both would have been together... Forget that... (Gave an evil smirk) So, your great sister Ridhima, she still doesn't talk to you right...
I held my head low when she said that, as she was right... Ridzi never spoke to me in this 1 year and the pain of not being with my sister was unbearable... Kavya was about to come near me again when someone came and stood between us...
Kavya- Excuse me... who are you???
I looked up and was shocked to see Nandini was standing in front of me...
NANDINI'S POINT OF VIEW-
I was shocked the way Kavya was speaking to Manik and the amount of negativity she had inside her... I now understood why so easily she manipulated such a sharp person like Manik... She really knew the art well... I was keeping my anger in check after hearing her conversation with Manik... Until she again raised fingers on Manik and his sister's bond which was so precious to him...
My heart wrenched with pain seeing Manik with his head low and that was it for me... I decided to stand by the Man I Loved...
Kavya- Excuse me... who are you??? Can't you see we are having a private conversation?
She gave me an angry glare while saying all this and Manik tried to speak for me, but I stopped him and looked into his eyes and smiled...
I knew it was time for me to stand up for Manik and I turned to answer Kavya...
"Ohhh yes... of course I can see that you guys were talking... But, you know something, I just couldn't hold myself... (Kavya was confused) You are a really pretty girl so came to compliment you... But seems like the colour of your heart is... forget that I think you are heartless... Never mind..."
FAB 5 chuckled and Kavya smirked at me in arrogance... "But, you know Kavya after hearing your conversation I really wanna say THANK YOU... you deserve something..."
[Manik and FAB 5 were startled by Nandini's words... They weren't able to figure out what she was upto...]
I immediately hugged her and she was completely baffled and others were shocked...
"Aaawww you look confused... tch tch tch tch tch tch... You are really dumb Kavya (I smirked now and spoke with a pride)... Mein voh hun Kavya jo tum kabhi nahi ban sakti... Infact you had a chance, but you ruined it..."
Kavya was looking at me completely clueless... "Thanks for cheating on Manik, else how would I have met Manik in London..."
I turned to look at Manik and our eyes met; his eyes had immense love for me... Today I had a sense of pride and confidence in me that I was "THE WOMAN" in "THE MANIK MALHOTRA'S" life... For the first time I experienced that I had a right on him and I was an integral part of his life for eternity...
I had realized that Kavya was a woman who couldn't accept the fact that she had lost the game and today I was determined to finish this game for forever...
Kavya- Ohhh so you are the new flavor of the season in Manik's life... (She examined Nandini from head to toe)...Manik What's wrong with your taste in woman... Can't believe she is your...

Before I could say something Nandini gave a tight slap to Kavya... Her eyes now had fire in them...
Nandini- how dare you speak a word against his family...
Kavya- how dare you... (She looks at Manik) Manik you are such a coward...
And Nandini slapped her again... Kavya tried to raise her hand on Nandini but she held Kavya's hand in between and jerked it away harshly... I had never seen her so angry and it left me and FAB 5 completely shocked...
Nandini- Not... A... word against Manik ... Stay in your limits... Manik never raised his hand on you because he respects woman, so don't think he is weak... A word against his family and him... and you'll regret...
Kavya was completely scandalized seeing the anger in Nandini's eyes and the way Nandini spoke...
Nandini- and yes Manik and his family are very busy people... So, I am enough to deal with you ... Mark my words Kavya... a single scratch on Manik's family or on him and I swear on BAPPA I will destroy your life...
Kavya glared angrily at me, FAB 5 and Nandini... Kavya tried to leave but FAB 5 stopped her and Cabir spoke...
Cabir- Kavya not so soon sweetheart... (Smirked) I had told you Kavya don't take Manik's silence as his weakness... Hope you got all your answers today from Nandini...
Mukti- you know Kavya Manik ko bhi samjh aa gaya hai ki he just liked you... You were the biggest mistake in his life...
Dhruv- But, Mukti because of this mistake (pointing towards Kavya) Manik met Nandini... his true love...
Aliya- you wanted to break Manik's all precious relations and I must say you were successful till some extent... But, Nandini just changed your entire game... you lost it Kavya... See we all are with him for forever...
I wrapped my one hand around Nandini's shoulder and wrapped other around my friends and then spoke to Kavya... "You tried to break every beautiful thing in my life... But, then Nandini came and encouraged me to set everything right... My parents and my friends are now with me... So, yes I should say thanks to you for cheating on me... nahi toh mein Nandini se kaise milta... Aur ha Ridzi and I will be together like before and this time even more stronger... Kavya glared at us and left... FAB 5 laughed and they hugged Nandini and then me... It was a moment of pride for me to have such amazing FRIENDS and a SOULMATE in Nandini...
WRITER'S POINT OF VIEW-
Someone who watched this entire drama from a small distance was completely impressed by Nandini... And they were Ridhima and Siddarth... Manik's parents had always made them aware about what happened in Manik's life and also how Nandini had stopped him from committing suicide...
They always praised her and that was the reason Ridhima and Siddarth wanted to see who was Nandini... Manik's mom had informed Ridzi that FAB 5 and Nandini were going out for dinner and they could see her there... But, Kavya being there was just a co-incidence and it told them volumes about Nandini...
Ridhima - Mom dad were right Sid, this girl is really something...
Sid- hhmmm... She knows how to stand for her loved ones... Bilkul perfect hai humari family ke liye... (He takes Ridhima in his embrace)
Ridhima- you are right Sid, she is perfect for my brother... Manik has finally chosen the right girl for himself...
Sid- Why don't you speak to Manik Ridzi high time... Please... just look at him, he really misses you... Aab toh Samaira and Viaan bhi samjhne lage hai that there is some tension between both of you..
Ridhima looks at his brother with love in her eyes, but his harsh words still had some impact on her...

In this one-year's time it was for the first time Ridzi had said she would 'try' to mend her relation with Manik... And this brought a smile on Sid's face too... Sid had realized that he would need Nandini's help in getting Manik and Ridzi together and now the ray of hope was bright...
