Kiran Karmarkar on the end of Kahaani...

Kiran Karmarkar, who is popularly known as Om of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii admits that, it is very saddening that Kahaani is going of the air, but he wants to it end at happy note. Karan, spoke to us about his experiences and feeling of seeing one of TV's most popular shows coming to an end.
"I am going to miss Kahaani a lot; it was like a habit for me. Even though I had taken a break in between, I used to come on the sets even then. But now whenever we will come here this set won't be here... There will be another set and different people may be working in that set. And so we will not feel that we are in our own home. This was like home for us.I will miss daadi and our director Garry terribly. At this moment we are feeling empty and someone is leaving us," says an emotional Kiran.
"It was a good experience for me. In thesee 8 years there were different directors, different actors and different characters and with all these people we celebrated all our festivals. But this will not happen any more now."

"People will say that you used to play Om and he was very good so they will consider my character as something of the past. I still remember people used to come to me and complain that our families won't sit for dinner without watching this show," adds the actor.

Speaking about the actual end of the show, Kiran says nothing is clear at the moment but it is believed that all the characters will come together for one last time.

"I do not know what is going to happen in the end but so far what I know is that in the last episode every character is going meet each other and different incidents are going take place between them. It is going to be a special episode and as when some one will come we will come to know that what is going to happen in the show. But I know that I want a happy ending for the show," says Karmarkar.

What I would change about my character...

Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii is soon to end and all of us, including the stars themselves will miss it terribly. Each one of the stars portrayed a role which was either linked to their character or differed completely from it. But now with the end round the corner, we ask each of the stars if there was something they wished was different in their long run characters.
Kiran Karmarkar aka Om says "Main Hameshase Chahta tha ki kahaani mein kabhi toh ek aisa track aaye jahan Om ka character bahut hi zabardast negative ho jaye."

Kamal chachu, played by Ali Asgar, says, "You can have many more Om's and Mihir's but Kamal chachu will always be one. I just love my character because it is resembled me completely… but still if you ask me one thing which I would like to advise myself and my character on screen would be that I should be more calculative and tactful to some extent."

Mita Vashisht, Trishna of Kahani enjoyed her character to the fullest but at the same time she has something else to say, "I play a character of imagination. I wouldn't advise anything to Trishna as she played a very different and interesting role."

"Aditi has been a very chilled out girl and there has been a transformation in her character as well. As Priya, I would advice Aditi to keep her cool and be a little more practical and easy going in life" says Priya Val of Aditi fame, happy with her transformation.

Jatin Shah aka Adi had some other dreams. Jatin as Adi always wanted to get married to Maithli and this is what he wanted to see in the show. Apart from this he loved his character and believes that earlier Adi was very aggressive but later as time passed he moved on.

    Kahaani Saakshi Tanwar kii

It took Saakshi Tanwar almost a year to get convinced to essay the role of Parvati. Eventually the decision changed her life and that of all those involved in the show. Parvati (Saakshi Tanwar) soon became a household name as Kahaani.. went on to be one the longest running soaps on Indian television. Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii has run its course after eight long years and now its curtains for this Balaji show.

On October 9 the show will showcase the penultimate episode imbibing the spirit of Dussera – the triumph of good over evil. This episode will once again see the Agarwal household together striving for their unity.

It was on this emotional day that we caught up with a rather reticent Saakshi Tanwar to share her emotions and experiences on the show.

With Kahaani coming to an end, what are your emotions?

It would be very hard to explain what I am going through as it's not just one emotion but this is a mlange of emotions that I am feeling now. We have completed a journey of eight years. It does feel a bit incomplete and hollow.

Eight long years. How does this feel?

Why single out this serial? Any show, play or any other medium of entertainment runs only if touches the right chord of the viewers and if the janta relates to the show. The show will be a success only if the audiences connect with it emotionally. May be this is the reason we have been successful and that too for eight long years. We persistently tried to strengthen the connection with them and that is the only USP of the show.

Kahaani.. was like a daily newspaper for viewers?

As long as people were reading it was fine. It is a great achievement for any show to be a part of people's routine and to become a habit. So even if they knew what was coming or had no clue about the track but still they would watch it regularly like a habit.

Any emotional scene that you would want to share with us?

This show was all about emotions. In these eight years we have shot some 15000 episodes and every episode has 10 – 12 episodes so it would be very difficult to pick and choose just one scene.

Any out of the ordinary incident or experience on the show?

This is something I have never shared with the media as this incident is very funny and everytime we discuss it at home it has us all in splits. My bhabhi (sister-in-law) was pregnant for the second time and around 9:30 pm she started having her labour pains and we could easily make out from her face the immense pain she was going through. So she told my mother and without realising my mother her if she could wait so that they could see Kahaani and then go to the hospital. To which my father got really angry and told my mother that one can watch the repeat telecast of the show. So to develop a habit of watching a show is a real big achievement for all those who are working in it and behind it.

Would you like to change your image or stick to Parvati?

Eight years ago I didn't even know I would do this role. God has been extremely kind to me and I think I have a good image in the public eye. It's better to have a good image than to have none or a bad image. It feels nice to meet people who always have good things to say about you and they greet you with respect and love. I can't say anything about future.

How much are going to miss the routine?

I can answer this question once I stop shooting. It has not yet registered and sunk in as I am still shooting. I would be able to tell you probably once the telecast is over and I experience it. At present I am still very much a part of this show.

What is next in the pipeline?

Like I said I live for the moment and can't tell you anything about what's going to happen in the future.

    What are you shooting today?

We are celebrating Diwali and co-incidentally the show started on Diwali eight years ago. My first scene had me making rangoli. So whatever we did eight years ago is going to be repeated today.

    Any message for your fans?

I just want to thank all your readers for their unconditional love and I would ask for forgiveness if we have hurt them by any chance. We would get to meet you one last time on the eve of Dussera through Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.

    Kya hoga Kahaani ke baad?

The last episode of Ekta Kapoor's popular soap, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii was telecast on October 10th. Many of the stars in Kahaani were doing other shows as well but for most of them Kahaani was the only show. So what are they up to now that the show is over? We found out...
Kiran Karmarkar, better known as Om tells us, "Now that Kahaani is over, I'll be doing two plays, one of them is Hindi and the other one is both English and Hindi. I've got many serial offers but not found anything interesting yet and I have rejected two of them just because they sounded very similar to Om".

Sakshi Tanwar, whose claim to fame is the role of Parvati might be a part of a reality show called '4 2 ka 1'. Nothing is confirmed yet but producers of the show are constantly persuading her to host the show.

Tina Parekh aka Shruti is waiting for something else to come her way "It's not that I am not being offered anything but I am looking for a change now. I would love to do a chat or talk show and I am eagerly waiting for any such opportunity, I don't want to go for any dailies (soaps)," she says.

Chetan Hansraj of 'Sasha' fame was one of the finalists of 'Kaun Jitega Ticket to Bollywood' and is at present busy shooting for the serial 'Kahaani Hamaray Mahabharat Ki' where he plays Bheem.

Ali Asgar aka Kamal Chachu was one of the contestants of 'Zara Nachke Dikha' which came to an end last week and in the near future he will most probably host reality show '4 2 Ka 1' with cast mate Sakshi Tanwar.

Mita Vashisht who played Trishna in the serial says, "Presently I am busy doing couple of Hindi and few Bengali movies; I am not doing any television shows as I don't want to do anything similar to those saas-bahu sagas, but if I am given a different role like that of Trishna I would definitely think about it ".

Jatin Shah aka Adi is busy trying his fate on the dance floor as he is a part of Nach Baliye 4, which forms his priority. He is busy rehearsing for it with his dance partner Priya Bathija.

Bharat Chowda played Chotu and he is out of work at present. He says, "I have nothing to do right now but I am desperately waiting to be a part of any reality show that comes my way."

Bharat Chawda set to enter Kasturi

There is good news for fans of Kahaani's Ishaan. After Kahaani, Bharat is back on the small screen – this time in the popular soap Kasturi. He will soon be entering the show as a positive character.

"After Kahaani, I did Tyohaar Dhamaka and then went to my home town Indore. And as soon as I was back, I was offered this role and I went for it," says an elated Bharat.
Bharat will be playing a very important and a positive role. He will play Abhimanyu, who is the elder most son of the Singhania family.

"Abhimanyu is a very simple, responsible and reserved kind of guy. He doesn't speak too much. Abhimanyu doesn't have father…he just has his mother and two younger brothers. Being the bada beta, he understands everyone in the family and takes care of everything including the finances," he reveals.

Bharat says he will be seen as a one of the leads in the show and not in a cameo. Abhimanyu's character has basically been brought to help Kasturi at first and then gradually he will end up falling in love with her.

Bharat has done theatre earlier and was also seen as a finalist in Zee Cinestars ki Khoj. He was recently seen in the role of Ishaan in Kahaani.

Abhimanyu's entry in the show will be shown in the next week.

    Break ke baad in tellyland

They made you laugh, they made you cry and they made you sigh with despair. Where are they now ?

It's been more than two months since Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii went off air. We caught up with the bahu and beta of the serial and asked what was keeping them busy professionally.

    Bahu

Parvati of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii

    (Saakshi Tanwar)

At present, she is not doing any show or serial and is just enjoying herself at home. She said, "Right now I have no work lined up but as and when I sign something, I will definitely let you know."

Om Agrawal of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii

    Beta

    (Kiran Karmarkar)

This 'achcha beta' has taken a small break from the television industry. Kiran said, "It's just a small break for me but only as an actor.I am flooded with offers, but all the characters are somewhat similar to Om Agarwal's.

So till I get interesting offers,I am doing films like Pankh, Rang Birangi and a Marathi film Kshano-Kshani."

Dabur banks on tele stars to boost sales NEW DELHI: FMCG major Dabur India is turning to television stars for endorsing homecare brands as it bids to make its products a 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki' (common household name). The company has signed up Sakshi Tanwar, better known as 'Parvati' in the popular television soap opera 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' as brand ambassador for its toilet cleaner 'Sanifresh Shine'. Dabur already has India's favourite tele-bahu Smriti Irani (of Kyun KiSaas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi fame) for endorsing its recently recently-launched hard surface cleaner brand 'Dazzl'. "Both Smriti and Sakshi are well respected stars and symbolise a true family woman. We are confident that these associations will prove very fruitful for our home care brands," Dabur India Senior General Manager (Home Care), Mr Girish Kumar said. This is the first time Dabur is taking television celebrities in a big way as brand endorsers for its products. Known for signing big-ticket celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and M S Dhoni, the roping in of TV stars is seen as a strategic move to penetrate into common household. "The move will help it to move deeper into the Indian households, where both Smriti and Sakshi enjoy huge popularity," an advertising industry insider said, adding it was important to identify right personalities for right products.

"It makes better sense to get television celebrities, who housewives and households in India identify as being the ideal bahu or beti," he said. - PTI
