Well its one of the many festivals of India....

Here we fly kites and eat and ditribute sweets that are called tilgul......

There's a saying in marathi that U must say when sharing the tilgul's

It goes as follows....

Tilgul ghya... goud goud bola......it means.......... take the til gul N sweet sweet..........

A happy makar sankrant to U ......

I have heard of basant but am not exactly sure as to what it means... if U could elaborate on it.....

Basant (Hindi: , Punjabi:) is short for Basant Panchami (Sanskrit), a Hindu festival in honor of Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music and art. It is celebrated every year on the fifth day (Panchami) of the Hindu month Magh (January-February), the first day of spring. Though originally a Hindu festival, it is now celebrated by people of all religious backgrounds; specially in the Northern India. that is wat i found on wikipedia

well i m not sure

but since u mentione on the 5th day of marg during spring time......

so i guess its not makar sankrant........ cuz makar sankrant comes in winter........

i m sure basant is a season
