 | Jugni (Muskan Mihani) She is a 22-year-old smart woman born and brought up in UK and is a doctor by profession. A perfect blend of beauty and brains, she is madly in love with Vicky. She is ready to sacrifice her lifestyle for her love and plunges into the challenge, she takes on to get married to her love. Since Vicky's family is very conservative, moreover Bauji, would never agree to accept her as a bahu, she has to pretend like an uneducated woman and thus achieves her aim of getting married to Vicky. But the weird views of the family keep annoying her all the time and living amongst them is now a challenge to her. She enters the house as 'Jugni" the illiterate woman exactly opposite to her real self. She is full of life and tries her best keep everyone in the family happy. She strives hard to prove to be a good homemaker and become the so-called 'Ideal woman' according to Bauji's belief. |
Vikramjit Bhalla/ Vicky (Karan Godwan) Is a 25-year's smart, charming and well-educated man who has just returned from UK after completing his MBA. A handsome personality but a desi at heart, Vicky is very obedient to his father. Vicky is very close to his family; especially his mother and believes in the views held by his father ''bauji' ' the God of the family. Vicky is proud of his illiterate bhabhis in the family and thinks that his family is an example of a 'perfect family'. Initially Jugni finds him very impressive and charming, but only to her surprise after reaching his town she learns that he is a very simple guy from the hamlet. He needs to polish himself a lot more but is reluctant to learn all this from a woman. Vicky loves Jugni but cannot express it to her particularly after learning that, she had deceived his family by marrying him. |  |
 | Jagtaar Bhalla (Ranjit) Is 65 years old and is Vicky's father (Bauji). He is the man of the family with stern beliefs and regulates the house. He is a very temperamental and loses his cool if any member of the family goes against his word. He is a very superstitious man and egocentric person. Out of his own experiences, he has developed some beliefs one of which is that 'an educated woman can never make a good homemaker'. Thus, he gets all his sons married to illiterate women who according to him look after his sons better and keep them happy. His wife is an educated woman and would always interfere into his business deals, which has leaded him to his strong decision of getting his sons married to uneducated women. He is proud of his uneducated bahu's especially Jugni who has been a select from the grand 'Swayamwar'. In Punjab, it is an archaic tradition to build the water tanks on the terraces into a shape of an aeroplane, if any member of the house is an NRI. To have this tag of pride in his house too, Bauji sends his youngest son Vicky to UK to pursue his further education. |
Jaspreet Bhalla (Asha Sachdev) Vicky's mother (Beeji) is a 55 years old woman who has a very pleasant demeanor and is educated until the 10th standard. She fell in love with Bauji after his feat of driving away the goras (British) from the country all alone. Bauji (her husband) being a very rigid man, she managed to change him to a certain extend after which he would not budge. She does not appreciate the ways Bauji overreacts when annoyed and such small tiffs have led to many differences between them, and they have stopped talking to each other. She believes that the whole family is scared of him and hence never goes against him, whereas he thinks it is out of his disciplined control. |  |
 | Balwinder Bhalla (Baba Saigal) Bauji's eldest son is a 35 year's old strong Punjabi man. Whenever Bauji calls him 'Khote Da Puttar', he gets very agitated and expels the frustration on his son Pinto. |
Manjit Bhalla (Sonia Kapoor) The ever smiling, 32 years old, Manjit is Balwinder's wife. She loves to eat and enjoys feeding everyone around. She is happy all the time and thus people believe that she does not have any grievance in life, which is not true at all. |
 | Maninder Bhalla (Abhishek Avasthi) He is a 30 year old, formally dressed man busy on the phone all the time. Although he looks very sophisticated, he sounds very rustic and dimwitted when he talks. In the practice of doing a little more than the farming business, he tries his hand on various businesses but all to no avail, he finds failure always. |
Surjeet Bhalla (Shilpa Vadke) 30 year's old is the loudest of all the family members. She loves to argue on the smallest things on earth and would not spare the vegetable vendor, milkman etc. |  |
Jatinder Bhalla and Simran Bhalla (Rohan and Namrata) This is a happy go lucky couple, always smiling. Both conscious of their looks are into themselves all the time. The couple is very fond of each other get along really well. Simran is very superstitious and fanatic. She follows a Pir Baba and keeps getting advices and taveez for her husband's wellbeing and the business prosperity. |
Satnam Bhalla/ Bebe (Shubha Khote) Bauji's mother'. Now no more alive 'communicates only with Bauji through her photo hanging on the wall in his room. According to Bauji, his mother was responsible for his misery as she got him married to a woman who was educated i.e. (Vicky's mother). She keeps on ridiculing him for taking such a conservative step of bringing all the uneducated Bahu's in the family. Bauji defends his decisions by saying this is Kalyug'bada kharaab zamana hai. She laughs aloud as and when they (bauji and bebe) have a hilarious conversation and flash her golden teeth every time she does that. |
 | Jeeta (Ram Kiran) He is 28 years old and a big fan of the film star Sunny Deol has watched Gadar movie for more than 25 times. His only favourite work is to update Bauji with all the happenings in the house. Bauji and dadiji communicate with each other via him. He is in love with a maidservant working in the same household. He encourages her to study and does not believe in the myth of the family he dwells in. |
Jeeto (Priya) She is 24, and blushes all the time. Helps the bahus with their work but sometimes feels that they are no different from her, since they are illiterate. She takes great care of the mother ' 'Beeji'. |
Pinto (Parth Muni) He is an 8 year's old, confused between the beliefs of his grandfather, wherein he is being educated to be a liberal in the modern environment of his school and at the same time being brainwashed into being a chauvinist by his Bauji. Pinto thus tries to dominate his older cousin and tries his best to drive her crazy. However, with the entry Jugni things change. With her guidance one day, the child stands up to Bauji and rattles him with some home truths. |
Granddaughter (Mini) She is 10 years old. A sweet child but is constantly bullied by her younger cousin. She loves dancing. She is scared of Bauji. She was been allowed to go to school after dadiji threatened to fast until death. |
Jugni's Mother (Meenal Pandse) Jugni's mother is a wannabe a 'firang' and speaks with an accent. She is definitely not an ideal mother / bahu/ wife according to the 'Indian' standards. She does not approve of her daughter's behaviour. She speaks broken English, which her husband keeps, on correcting all the time. The mother who gets occasionally drunk adds up to the hilarious scenes and makes it a major entertainer. |
Jugni's Sister (Eesha) The sister is opposite of her elder sibling. She is a complete brat. Wants to live life the way she thinks is right for her. She goes around with a black person (in UK) and this is the constant cause of worry for Jugni's parents. |
| Raju Kher (Dharmender): Jugni's father is very close to her. Being the eldest daughter, she is his favourite. They share a special bond. Unlike a traditional Punjabi father, Jugni's father is not at all dominant, rather gets regulated and dominated by Jugni's mother and her younger sister. He is the only one in the house who is a complete Indian at heart. Both the parents do not interfere too much into their kids' lifestyle. The family is a complete mad setup of imprudent, feral and crazy characters. Jugni seems the sanest of all members of her family. |
| Preeto( Poonam Gulati) She is the daughter of Gopal and an ardent lover of Vicky. She alwayz wanted to be his wife and tries to get it done by hook or by crook. Although she reamins unsucessful in her attempts she never stops trying. |
