Tone down brotherly act, Rohit Roy told |

There is no denying that Rohit Roy is not only a good television host but live anchoring comes to him quite easily as compared to his co-host Mona Singh who is however, doing a better job than her 'Nach Baliye' counterpart Tina Hussain. But what has not gone down well with Sony is Rohit's overt brotherly act towards his elder sibling Ronit Roy who is a participant in 'Jhalak Dikhhla Ja'. An anchor is supposed to be a neutral person. His job is to be fair to every contestant and support and cheer for them equally. But instead of being subtle in his support for his elder brother, Rohit was rooting so openly for Ronit that the channel finally told him to tone down his excessive brotherly act.
"The show is a competition and rooting for one's brother goes against the spirit of the competition," Rohit was told. However, Rohit denies that he was overdoing his brotherly act or that Sony has asked him to tone it down. "Ronit is my elder brother and I did refer to him as 'bade bhaiyya' a few times. But that's perfectly fine. My job is to appreciate every participant's performance and ask viewers on the participants' behalf to vote for them. And that includes Ronit," says Rohit.
There was great improvement in her act but sadly she was voted out," he says. In his opinion 'Jhalak' is not only about dance. "It is also about warmth, attitude and people's love. If it was only about dance then Shveta Salve would have won last year. But Mona walked away with the title because of her popularity," he adds.
Commenting on his co-host Mona, Rohit says she is learning and improving with each episode. "We are working as a team and complementing each other. Fortunately we have a great back up team for support," he says. After being told to downplay his sibling act, it's to be seen whether Rohit repeats his 'mere bade bhaiyya' act in tonight's gala performance of 'Jhalak'. |
