Were you easily convinced of the offer to participate in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa? I was approached by the production house and I was ecstatic about the offer. It was a dream and now it came true. I love dancing and it was my husband who encouraged me to take part. He was my strongest supporter. |
Since when did you enjoy dancing? I enjoyed dancing since childhood, but unfortunately my mother didn't approve the idea of dancing. I was also rebuked by my friends; they too disliked the idea of dancing. But today my hubby, Ashutosh advised me to follow my heart and this has brought me to the limelight. Jhalak Dikhla Jaa made we realise this childhood dream and not to forget we get paid to dance |
Did you enjoy being a participant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa? Yes, more than words can say. I never expected that it would be so great. The experience was amazing and one of a kind. I also made a lot of friends. But the biggest achievement for me is the fact that I grew as a dancer; I have shed my inhibitions and stage fright. I was comfortable performing in front of the judges. |
What is your reaction to being evicted so early in the race? I was disappointed to leave this early, I wanted to stay longer and learn more moves. I am not a pro and there were several steps I wanted to learn. I believe this season has more amateur dancers compared to the previous seasons, this left room for improvement but sadly I got evicted |
What was your family's reaction to the elimination? It was a mixed reaction. My husband and eldest son were very upset. They wanted me to win and come home with the trophy. I had to pacify them and make them understand about the eviction. Whereas my younger son is more than happy, he hates the fact that I work and have long shoots. Actually he hates anything that comes between paying attention to him and me (smiles) |
How did you feel to work with Madhuri Dixit after several years? It was amazing! She is a great actress and enjoyed working with her in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. But this time the interaction was short lived. We had to maintain a disparity between the judge and a contestant. But as a judge she was quite encouraging and humble. |
Was weight one of the issues for you to take up dancing? As far as I have noticed most choreographers are fat but they are superb dancer. But yes, I have worked hard on my physique. Dancing was the only way I lost weight. If you want to lose weight, you should take up dancing. It's the easiest way to lose wieght. |
What is your next step where dancing is concerned? I am waiting for wild card entry; you never know I may go back (laughs). As far as next step is concerned I am planning to learn Kathak and will join Kathak classes after Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. I also like salsa, but I want to concentrate on one thing at time. |
