just a correction: Isha's first 30 was for an out and out Bollywood Dance number - The Dirty Picture. I hate it when people forget any contestants earlier performances and only mention the recent ones.
I would agree with Jai if he was completely right about that. Yes, Isha's Bollywood & Hip-Hop in week 10 were not good but that does not mean she can't do a bollywood dance and excel in it which she has done earlier.
In the past week or so I have updated the wikipedia JDJ5 page and noticed that Isha's first 30 was a Bollywood number. I honestly hope people (other contestants and the general population) would leave this poor girl alone.
Isha has not excelled in aerial acts only but a lot of floors acts too:
Freestyle (1st performance) - yes the performance started with rope mallakhamb but that was only for the first 35-40 seconds or so the rest was floor dance;
Pasodoble (3rd performance);
Freestyle (Puppet Dance) (4th performance, may be 5 or 6 seconds were aerial but majorly floor dnace);
Contemporary (horror) (5th performance);
Bachata (6th performance);
Bollywood Contemporary (Zindagi ka safar, 7th performance);
Afro & Chau (9th performance);
Freestyle (Satrangi, 12th performance but week 11).
All of these have been floor acts except for only the Aerial Hoop (or ring dance) that was full on Aerial (Isha's part only).
Verstality? I see lots of that in these performances. All of these performances expressed different emotions, yes they might seem the same to people what with the addition of lifts but all of the major dance forms include lifts. I personally had a problem with them getting 30 for Bachata performance due to coordination problems in one of the steps but may be I am being too strict here so won't comment further on that. But other than that, Isha has shown verstality more than anyone else. Especially the Afro & Chau performance where the dance required two different forms of energy to be put into and Isha did that wonderfully (check Madhuri's comment for reference if its difficult to find in the acutal performance).
And the Ballroom dance I had major issues with her body form. When I think of Ballroom, I think of straight and strong body posture especially the torso, shoulders and arms. Isha's was very weak at times (which was called for due to the B&B story, she is scared so a weak posture was necessary). I think they should have gotten maybe 27 or something less but since this is JDJ the focus is not on International dance forms alone but majorly Indian/bollywood dance forms so by that standard their performance was excellent but strictly speaking it wasn't.
Yes, full on dance performances are good but how many times can you watch only dance with no story? once, twice, thrice? trust me, the fourth time it'd be boring.
Out of all the performances so far done by all contestants on a
Bollywood Dance form, for me, Isha's The Dirty Picture is the best - not only in terms of choreography but dance, expressions, etc too. But again, that is my opinion only - not a fact. I respect that everyone has their own opinions and there might be some who would disagree with me but I only hope that people base their opinions on facts and not half-facts/half-others opinions.
One more thing, I like Isha's one statement that she has said on the show "[you try something new - ] sometimes you fail, sometimes you succeed". So if her hip-hop/bollywood dance wasn't a great success, doesn't mean she cannot do hip-hop or bollywood. Others who have tried strict hip-hop are Shibani, Rithvik and Bharti only of which only Rithvik and Shibani's was good. Infact, Shibani's wasn't stricly a hip-hop only dance. Hip-hop is rithvik's forte just like aerial is Isha's but Isha can do other dance forms as I explained earlier.
Darsheel, Rithvik and gia tried lyrical hip-hop which is different from hip-hop.
Others can fail at some dance forms but Isha can't? She is a human the same as everyone else, she is allowed to fail. If not, then so should everyone else be.
Note Bharti, Gurmeet and Karan's last few performances which weren't great.
Agreed, Rithvik and Rashmi's performances are good but try doing dance for 11 weeks straight and only 4 weeks straight, you'll see the difference yourself. Doing one thing again and again takes a toll on anyone. Some of Darsheel's performances have been good but only about 2 have been excellent: Lyrical Hip-hop (week 4) and week 10 Partner performance. The aerial performance was great but not excellent.
Shibani was improving with each performance but week 9, she wasn't so good either (scored the lowest). Bharti's earlier performances were good but as weeks progressed her dancing seems to be not as good as earlier.
I don't know how many of you noticed this but Isha couldn't perform with heels. She had real trouble with that but she did in her 3rd performance. I call that progress and learning & improving.
I have yet to see a performance of Darsheel and Avneet's where I am left completely speechless. I liked their Pehla Nasha performance the best so far. The DDLJ performance, I did not like it at all (but that's just my opinion).
This show is a "reality-show", a contest, the strongest (in terms of dance and votes) survives. Medicores don't, unless they have fans willing to vote to keep them in (I am NOT talking about anyone in particular here but talking about reality-shows in general).
This is my 2nd reality show after JDJ1 that I have followed from 1st episode and I have to say that so far Isha has been the only contest whose talent has compelled me to vote for her (online only) but no one else did. I have watched other bits and pieces of other reality shows (including JDJ2, 3 and 4) and in my opinion so far Isha and Shweta Salve have been the best in terms of dance. Others might disagree and they are more than welcome to but I can only hope that people would make statements keeping in mind all the facts and not ignoring some while mentioning those that agree with their viewpoint.
p.s. I guess I have done enough rambling here to cover the last 4-5 years I had left IF, lol.
