LINK: Jhalak,a mix of good and bad..

If you've been a fan of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, we're assuming you must have noticed an overdose of hero worship on the show.

The more than lavish praising of Madhuri Dixit-Nene and the superstar tag Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan seems to get every time he comes on stage - and more! What is beyond our understanding is the fact that the judging trio is quite lenient when judging Sanath Jayasuriya. One needs to realise that it's a dance show and it's important to keep the former cricketer's achievements aside and judge him like any other contestant.

The show has opened to a rating of 3.1. But has the show so far managed to impress us?

Contestants' report card:
Giaa Manek: Thumbs up: She looks good and has the potential to become a better dancer at the end of it. Thumbs down: Her moves are often haphazard seeming like all she wants to do is to finish her performance before time.

Shibani Dandekar: Thumbs up: A nimble-footed dancer, this pretty IPL host sways like she has a body minus bones. Thumbs down: When you're in Rome, do as the Romans do. You can't be not knowing Hindi when you dream of getting a ticket to Bollywood. This girl will encounter a lot of difficulties connecting with the audiences.

Archna Vijaya: Thumbs up: She brings the oomph factor to the table. Thumbs down: There are many who feel that her performance was falling in several areas.

Gurmeet Choudhary: Thumbs up: The guy has a great body which has the fairer sex drooling over him. Thumbs down: His dance moves are unfinished and his body looks pretty stiff. And we fail to understand, what's with people calling him a hero every time he comes on stage.

Sushil Kumar: Thumbs up: He is rooted and is entertaining with no qualms accepting the fact that Pappu, can't dance saala. Thumbs down: Well, certainly this is a platform to learn dance but one can't be at a snail's pace at it.

Jayati Bhatia: Thumbs up: She is putting all the energy in her dance and aspires to push the envelope every time. Despite less stamina, she is all out there trying new styles of dance. Thumbs down: The Mataji tag is way too overbearing. Come on, she ain't so old.

Sanath Jayasuriya: Thumbs up: This cricketer performs cutely, with that smile on his face and it shows how hard he is working on his dancing skills. Thumbs down: With his two left feet, we see him failing miserably but he's still appreciated for his below average performances by the judges.

Darsheel Safari: Thumbs Up: He seems to be here for the long haul. The kid means serious business and looks at ease while he performs. Thumbs down: He is 16 and not a bachha. Why shift the focus from his dance to his age?

Bharti Singh: Thumbs up: She is a delight to watch and is in her comic element even while she is dancing. Thumbs down: She needs to cut down on her jokes and focus more on her dance.

Isha Sharvani: Thumbs up: Her aerial stunts are worth a watch, considering it's her forte. Thumbs down: She is a trained dancer, hence misfit as others are no competition to her.

Ravi Kishan: Thumbs up: He looks more at ease with every passing day. Thumbs down: He tries hard to imitate Salman Khan and we are not impressed wee bit.

Pratyusha Banerjee: Thumbs up: She has the potential of becoming a better dancer. Thumbs down: What's with her shedding copious tears. Somebody please tell her we're not in a mood to watch a Balika Vadhu-esque.

Judges:
Madhuri Dixit: Thumbs up: Mads, as a judge, is encouraging and bang on with her comments. Thumbs down: Can we have a better stylist for this female judge please? Both her stylist and choreographer need to pull up their socks as her performance to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Udi Udi from Guzaarish was nothing but a direct lift from the original song in terms of choreography and clothes. Where was Madhuri's charm in that piece?

Karan Johar: Thumbs up: He is entertaining and brimming with enthusiasm on the show. Thumbs down: He often goes over the top and his enthusiasm is too much to bear.

Remo Dsouza: Thumbs up: What impresses us particularly about Remo is his chivalry. We see him getting up to pull Madhuri's chair every time the actress went on stage. Thumbs down: He is not judging the contestants but their choreographers. He should be judging both of them as a team.

Hosts:
Manish Paul: Thumbs up: He floored all and sundry with his sense of humour and witticism. The guy is a born entertainer and seems resourceful. Thumbs down: The whole obsession about Madhuri Dixit-Nene was heralded as unappealing and irritating. We agree that she's the dance diva of Bollywood, but the whole act put up by Manish of offering an aarti to her, praising her dance chops et al turned out a dampener. After all, Mads isn't here for charity; one hears she's getting paid a whopping amount to judge the show!

Ragini Khanna: Thumbs up: She is doing a decent job as a host Thumbs down: She plays it safe and relies completely on a teleprompter for her lines. She doesn't improvise, looks out of place and seems fake at times.

Sets of the show: Thumbs up: What immediately caught the attention were the grand sets of the show. The stage looked opulent, lively and were beautifully designed.

Gurmeet and Shampa More Pics
Television heartthrob, Gurmeet Choudhary brought international dance style Rumba to the stage this week in Colors Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

An intense, passionate and lust-driven dance form, Gurmeet had the judges and the audiences enthralled with his performance wherein he oozed oomph, sex appeal and passion onstage. His chemistry with his choreographer Shampa was sizzling while everyone around could feel the sexual tension in the air.

Karan Johar was especially taken with the act and couldn't stop raving about the sparks that were flying onstage. Raw, intense and sexy was what Karan had to say for this act but he didn't know that Gurmeet's wife Debina was sitting in the audience.

When he was made aware of Gurmeet's marital status, he hastily, apologized to Debina, who did admit that the intimacy made her uncomfortable. But having such a hottie for her husband has now made her immune to all his female fan following.

Taking Karan's comments in a good spirit, the couple hugged and the show moved on. To watch this explosive performance by Gurmeet, which forced him to reveal his marital status, don't missJhalak Dikhhla Jaa Saturday, tonight at 9 pm.
