Dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja' finalist Gurmeet Choudhary, who is pitted against TV actors Rithvik Dhanjani and Rashmi Desai for the trophy, says he is competing with himself and giving his best for it.

The 28-year-old actor, who wowed audiences with his Mahadev act with choreographer Shampa, says he is quite hopeful about winning the show.

"I have really worked hard for the show as it's tough for me to strike a balance between my daily soap and 'Jhalak'. I made my mark from the very beginning of the show. I am very happy with the kind of experiences I have gone through. I have never competed with anybody and my competition is with myself," said Gurmeet.

The grand finale of the fifth season of the dance reality show is on September 30, where actress Sridevi will appear to promote her new film 'English Vinglish'.

"I have given my 200 per cent for my finale performance. It's a melange of many dance forms. I am quite excited to perform in front of the beautiful Sridevi ji. She is one of my favourite actresses," he said.

Having learnt many new forms like hip-hop or break dance on the show, Gurmeet, who shot to fame with the 2008 TV series 'Ramayan', says they have helped him evolve as an actor but he will not repeat himself in the same avatar.

"I have always tried to do new things in life. I took up Jhalak because coming from a non-dancing background I wanted to learn it. I chose to do the role of Lord Ram when people were not doing mythological roles. In my performances also, I have tried to bring variations each time," he said.

The actor, who has become a household name with his character of Yash in 'Punar Vivah', says he has got many film offers during the show but he refused to divulge any details about them.

I get to learn new things on Jhalak: Gurmeet Choudhary

Thursday, September 27, 2012 | 6:18:35 PM IST (+05:30 GMT) 327 Comments I get to learn new things on Jhalak: Gurmeet Choudhary

Tellybuzz in conversation with Gurmeet Chaudhary who has made his entry to the Top 3 in Jhalak…

Gurmeet Choudhary, who has a great fan following after essaying characters like Ram in Ramayan, Maan in Geet Hui Sabse Parayi and now playing Yash in Punar Vivah, made its entry to the dancing world when Colors' Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 - Dancing with the stars flagged off. Giving some of the most amazing performances on stage, Gurmeet has made his way to the Top 3. Tellybuzz spoke to Gurmeet to know more about his experiences on the dance reality show….

How was the experience of being a part of the show?

It has been a fantastic experience for me to be a part of Jhalak. I got to learn new things after joining the stage of Jhalak. It's like a dream come true for me to have got an opportunity to be a part of this show.

How tough was it for you to juggle between your shooting schedule and dance rehearsals for Jhalak?

It was very hectic. I haven't slept for the past few months. I have to shoot for Punar Vivah as well as rehearse for my performances for Jhalak. The team of Punar Vivah has always been very supportive for me and it is because of their support that I am able to manage the two well.

Who was the toughest competitor for you throughout the journey?

The toughest competitor throughout the journey has been myself. The judges expected something new out of Gurmeet every time he came on stage. It just like I am competing with myself and judges start comparing you with your previous performances. It was very difficult to be compared to yourself.

The toughest act you did?

The toughest act I did will be aired in the finale episode. It required a lot of brain to bring out creativity in this act. Performing in that act was the most difficult task for me.

Did you ever think of reaching the Top 3?

I entered to the show with a motive to give my 100%. My fans have always supported me and played an important role in bringing me to this level. They used to keep voting for me throughout the night. So, it was my responsibility to satisfy them by giving my best in whatever acts I am doing and make my fans feel proud of supporting me.

How difficult was it for you to reach to this level?

Honestly, it was very difficult for me to reach to this level. I would like to appreciate the team of Punar Vivah's for being so boosterish. I hardly got time to go for rehearsals. I had to shoot for 12 hrs. and then I was left only with the other 12 for rehearsals. Traveling also took about 1-2 hours of my time. So I had very little time on my hand to deliver a good performance.

Share one memorable moment of Jhalak?

There have been a lot of moments which will always be memorable for me. The most striking moment for me would be when I got full marks for four consecutive times. I got less marks in the beginning and a buzz was created that it's difficult for Gurmeet to stay in this show. I kept on giving my performances and due to that and the support of my fans; I proved them wrong and made it through to the Top 3. My fans are just like my family and I always feel happy to see them happy too.

Which according to you was your best performance on Jhalak?

The best performance of mine on Jhalak was the Bhala Bura act and the Robo act according to me.

Who deserves to win the show according to you?

All 3 of us deserve to win the show. If we have reached to this level then we all deserve to win the show. I wish for the best one to win the show.

JHALAK DIKHHLA JAA NEWS

Gurmeet's craziest fan!

posted last Sep.25 , 2012

Gurmeet's crazy fan, in order to to impress his favourite star, did something very unique and harmless to prove her love for him!

It's not new to hear about crazy fans of Bollywood actors. While Shahrukh and Salman top the list, there's someone from the small-screen giving a tough competition to them.

We all have also heard about these fans collecting pictures, writing love letters with their blood or even worshiping these Bollywood stars, but what we are ging to tell you will not fail to amaze you.

Well, we are talking about the biggest star (not self-proclaimed ofcourse, but titled by his fans) of television, Gurmeet Chaudhary, who has women of all ages head-over-heels for him. And, we got to know about one such fan on twitter, Gistie2, who has turned out to be Gurmeet's craziest fan ever.

During last week we came across this girl, claiming to be Gurmeet's biggest fan. And what did she do to win over our doubts? She did not sleep the whole night just to vote for him...Yes! Gistie2 (That's her Twitter handle) not only stayed up till four in the morning to vote for his favourite contestant on Jhalak, but also got five of her friend's mobile phone recharged for Rs100 each and asked them to vote too. She even mentioned in her tweets that she did not sleep through-out the night for Gurmeet and appealed to all the Gurtians to vote for him too. For all those who don't know what Gurtian stands for, we would like to educate you... Gurtian is a short form for Gurmeet and Drashti, coined by their fans (since both were a very hot on-screen jodi).

We don't know if all these number of votes will help Gurmeet take the Jhalak trophy home or not, but Gistie2, you have certainly won the craziest fan's trophy from our side.
