Tasneem Sheik, the manipulating Mohini of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi talks about running around in her show Jet Set Go, weird fans, her honeymoon which is currently on hold and more. Jet Set Go has you winning all the time. What's the secret? Actually I want to lose so that one of my friends could win, but invariably I am the winner. Once I deliberately picked up a contestant from an area which was a long way from the airport, so that I would reach late and lose. But I landed up winning. Probably I push my contestants too much. I feel that if they are ready to leave everything on hand and rush with me then I should let them win. Everyone's time is important and if they are giving me their time then I better give them my best. You play a vamp in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi, were the sensitive younger sister in Kkusum and now you play yourself in Jet Set Go. Which is your favourite role? Jet Set Go is my favorite as I play myself. With this show people have started recognising me as Tasneem Sheikh and not some character. But honestly speaking, it's the character of Mohini, which has made me very popular. What made you take up the vamp's role in Kyunki…? I had never played such a character before and it was a challenge for me to not repeat myself. Also I learnt that several girls auditioned for the role but Ekta finally zeroed in on me. It was her implicit trust in me that made me take up Mohini's role. But wouldn't you agree that Kkusum was the landmark show in your career? It sure was. I had done a Dabur Amla hair oil ad, which never went on air. During that time I had dropped some of my pictures off at Balaji. One day I got a call for Kkusum and the rest as they say is history. How come you were spotted on air in Egypt? I was in Egypt to promote the country and man did I freak out! For once I had a great time on-screen. Off-screen I am always up to fun and games. Have you encountered any crazy fans? Don't remind me of this scary experience that I had with a fan. This guy would call me up at all weird hours and threaten me of dire consequences if I married Sameer. He would also send me strange messages. All my friends were worried and told me to lodge a complaint against him. But I didn't do that. Instead I spoke about it in a tabloid and even gave his cell number in print. Thankfully, the calls stopped coming after that. Any new shows coming up? There are a few shows that I am looking forward too. Talks are still on and I am negotiating and they are not just Balaji shows. How does it feel to be married? Wonderful to say the least though right now my shippie husband has gone back to ship and my honeymoon is delayed. But once he's back in August, we are going on our long-delayed honeymoon. Any unfulfilled wishes? Just that God cures my mother who is suffering from Alzheimer's from the past few years. I want her to be hale and hearty, the way she was when I was growing up. |
