No no to dress code! | |||||||
Student dilemmas are limitless! This time it's not about packing in extra books or the fierce competition of grabbing the first rank, but the hard and fast dress code system in some renowned colleges! Students, fresh out of school simply get attracted by the whims and fancies of colleges, but little do they know about these customs which is all set to break their fantasies. But are these rules reasonable? Riya V Anandwala talks to a few ladies from our television industry and here's their take on this hot issue! Benaf I think forcing their views on the students is not quite right. Wearing skirts is not wrong, if and only if it's not crossing the limit, as the authorities must keep that times are changing too. And as far as wearing sleeveless is concerned, I think it's very stupid to pose restrictions to this extent, we aren't living in an Arab country, where only our eyes should be seen and nothing else. If that's the case, then might as well keep uniforms in colleges!
It's extremely sad to see a dress code existing in colleges. There shouldn't be any dress code in the first place. No girl will turn up in a bikini for sure! This is the 21 century, high time we grow up. And the worst thing is that when the authorities claim men get instigated when women wear revealing clothes. It's like excusing them. We need to stand up for our rights! Pooja Bedi In my view, when certain restrictions are laid down in universities relevant to the dress code of girls, it's all upto the students to take their pick. If they are not comfortable with the system of a particular college or university they should opt for another one. As later in life, workplaces too will have a particular dress code, won't they? According to me, it's all about comfort wear; as colleges are place where one goes to study, the authorities also keep the boy and girl angle in mind, so they shouldn't cross their limit. Tassnim Sheikh Huh??? Is there a dress code in Mumbai colleges? I was not aware of any system of this sort? I don't approve of it. It's ridiculous to have dress codes in colleges; they are treating universities like schools! And especially in rains they should give the girls some leeway. At least capris and sleeveless tops should be allowed, keeping their comfort level in mind. Anita Hasnandani I am not really aware of the dress codes in colleges though, but I think it shouldn't be that rigid. Students come to colleges to study as well as enjoy, and this makes their life very difficult. Also, I agree, there are some girls who take undue advantage of the freedom and wear revealing attire, so there should be a system with restrictions but not so rigid! |
