Excellent point Kshreya👏….as the saying goes a leopard never changes his spots….and Annie u raised an excellent issue too abt how we overlook someone's goodness only because they have always been good…..Now that I think abt it, I believe that what we are instinctively looking for is a strong character.
I guess being creatures of change ourselves, we r attracted more towards those who promise this…..this change is seen as the strong point of a person….hence a bad person turned good always inspires respect…..now in most stories, there is no formidable third character for comparison…..even if a third individual is introduced, his personality is shown weaker than the protagonist's…..i.e. he may lack looks, status, is a social hermit, too set in his ways etc.
In JJKN we are already given a strong character in Purab who is not lacking in any way, has always been good, who already has what we'd want to see Armaan grow into….In addition Armaan's flaws are not only high lightened, but his character is also portrayed as being inferior to that of Purab's…
Now while we will respect Armaan should he turn over a new leaf, the fact is that his character will never reach the destination where Purab is at…..the reason being that while Armaan has changed for the better, so has Purab. (he has altered his life to accommodate Jassi)….put into the equation the fact that Purab has always been more ethical than Armaan and u have urself a winner……😉
