hi just curious..

I ask this because I see so many serials where people want to end up with the guy who turned good from bad rather than end up with a person who has been good from the beginning..

1. Jassi & Armaan (JJKN)

2. Kajal & Arjun (Koi Dil Mein Hai)

3. Pooja & Ronit (YMLH )

any comments?

I think most of the people that are married don't want to end up with people that changed from bad to good. They want to be with a good person from the start. But people that are single gets pleased with changing character easily.

Lakshmi...

Very good question.

If I have to answer this..I think two different suitations.

1st

where the couples are in love. One is bad and other is good and there is a 3rd person who is in love with either or girl....if he or she recogizes that and understands the true value of love then should marry the person who loves her or him. In the case of Armaan and jassi. Jassi has chossen to move on with purab and it is good if she keeps up that. After all purab doesn't deserve to be ditched and if she has committed to this...she should have thought and made this decision and not because armaan is with mallika so jassi should go to Purab. That would not be fair on purab. I am not sure what twists Deeya and Tony are going to bring to this.

Pooja and Ronit...ronit never loved pooja and neither did she...they hated each other...but their hatred is turing into liking right know. Ronit was bad but he is again changing for pooja because probably he cares for her...and if a person can change to keep his love...then that is fair...don't you think so?

2nd.

It is a married suitation and one is good and one is bad. Even though if there is a 3rd person liking here...the couple should stay together if he or she is changing for better. After all they loved each other and they should give one more shot and the other person changing may be because he or she wants to keep the relation. This is the case of Arjun and Kajal

the way i see it is this .......commitment is very important

kajal and arjun stick together bcoz they have something as substantial as marital bond and future of thier kid between them, besides thier differences are not the result of thier nature but a random accident(i hope....).if they can move past it, they can have a great life together.besides thier families push them together again and again.

ronit and puja differ bcoz of thier ego problems and social class issues, the fact remains that at one time or other they have been attracted to each other and at times they have helped each other out inspite of all the hatred festering between them. if they can see past thier egos and snobbery, thier relationship too has potential.here reema who has a special place in both thier lives push them together.

now for armaan and jassi.....they differ on all the possible issues...thier style of working, ideals, morals, social backgrounds, perspectives, expectations of thier life-partner, character.love has to conquer a lot in this case. morever jassi loves an non existant armaan and armaan is not in love yet. the relationship can work out but with a lot of work and nurturing which is too much to expect from either of them. if jassi treated armaan like purab(which she will after marraige), will he be as understanding as purab???? if he treats jassi like he treats mallika(and he will, it is a part of his personality), will she take it like mallika???. here everybody from nandu to puru is against the match. also there is the question of causing embarrassment and pain for fiances mallika and purab.

Very thought provoking question Lakshmi…..and pj u raised some good points.....

When a bad person turning good we have more respect for him/her….it means that he has fought his demons and emerged victorious…..also if it is the love of someone that has caused this positive change in one's personality then, it is interpreted as a good sign for the couple……usually we do look forward to seeing this change in the bad guy and pair him up with the female protagonist….

However, having said that, I think in Armaan and Jassi's case, there is too much ground lost to overlook. Add to that Purab who is an ideal match for Jassi and most people end up wanting to see P&J together…..

Armaan can still turn into the good guy and his redemption would be to realize his folly and move on…..I think that is probably the best way to get respect for his character

Hi Neha,

Why would we want to change the person if we love them? If we love someone then we accept the person with thier faults and pluses.. then why change?

I once read a story. There was this little girl who did not like a few things about her face. one day she met a painter who wanted to draw her. She told the painter what all she wanted changed and the picture was finally done. but then she did not recognise the picture itself.. so, why change ? just my thoughts...

very intresting question you got here... so far everyone has raised very good points.

I think mostly the reason I may do bad over good (which i so do not agre in on jjkns case) would be becuz we see the transformation of the bad guy and how he is a awesome person now. But what we don't realize and think about is the poor guy that has been good and faithful all the time. What about him? we always forget about the good people and they always have to sacrifice thier loves. I don't think thats fair!!

very thought provoking stuff lakshmi,if we could change things about ourselves ,we would also lose our essence with it......👏👏👏

so true annie.....in this war of love and wits we keep forgetting about collateral damage and the pain fair and good people have to bear.,
