It's raining Lord Krishna

Mythologies are clearly ruling the roost. And, in this case, we are talking about a particular incident in our Hindu mythology - the birth of Lord Krishna which is being telecast across the channels.

Come prime time and 9x's Kahani Hamari Mahabharat Ki has Lord Krishna's birth as the main event. And, coincidence or otherwise, Color's Jai Shree Krishna is showcasing the same event. Across both the channels, it is torrential rain and in the midst of the storm, you cannot miss the cry of Lord Krishna. Whilst Ekta Kapoor spent an exorbitant amount on the 'jail' setting, Sagar's setting is more toned down, the emphasis being the birth of Lord Krishna.

Both the production houses have given due credit to the birth of Lord Krishna. The special effects are particularly noteworthy. It does tend to drag for a while which leaves the viewers with a sense of exasperation, but the effect does leave a good taste.

It does seem strange though, how a new born Krishna looks like he is already a couple of months old.
Nevertheless, if you missed the birth of Lord Krishna on Mahabharat, fret not, because Colors is just around the corner and you could tune into the same effect on the 1st of August.

We do miss all the little snippets from the house of Sagar production. Ekta Kapoor kept the rumor mill abuzz with her little titbits. Food for thought or otherwise, it lent a little 'masala' value to the whole epic mythology.
