Detailed Update
Surath remembers Chandramukh telling him that he wants to see him at his last moment. Surath cires.
Guru β Cry, price. But remember that nobody wipes a king's tears. A king needs to suppress his tears and wipe the tears of his subject because duty is greater than any emotion. Your father fulfilled his duty till his last moment. The morale set by him is known to you. Have a grip on yourself. You do not have to find support for yourself; you have to become support for others. Do not lament; the king got the death of a martyr. Console your mother.
Surath wipes his tears and goes to his mother queen Chandrika.
Surath β Mother, please do not cry. I cannot see tears in your eyes.
Chandrika cries - I told him a lot that he should wait till you came. But he did not agree with me. He said that his duty was calling him. He gave more importance to his duty than to his life. But I am hurt that Vijay Durg's king Garud Dhwaj
Surath β I know.
Chandrika β I promised to your father that I would always be with him. Now is the time to carry out that promise. I cannot stay alive. It is a sin to live without him even for a moment. I was waiting only for you. Your father wanted to give you kingdom on your birthday. Accept the throne and, like your father, be a just king, carry your duties faithfully, and take care of your subject.
Surath consoles her a lot but she gives up her life. Surath cries.π
(This is so sadπ. In those days, a woman's condition was so bad. This happened to a queen. Just imagine what must be the condition of other women.π)
Durga β Knowledgeable people know that this creation is mortal. Death is eternal truth. The one who is born is born to die. Death is quite natural. Every moment, a being lives and also dies. Every inhalation gives life and every exhalation gives death. This is called life. But life has a limit. When this limit is reached, then life is over. Therefore, a person should not lament over death and should carry on his duties. Forgetting one's duties means ignoring the divine power, which rewards a person for his deeds. Those who are knowledgeable are not perturbed in any situation, they carry on their duties and get the blessings of God. (I feel dialogs need to be improved in this serial.π)
Surath performs Chandramukh's final rites. The following sad song plays: -chaar dinon ki preet jagat mein
chaar dinon ke naate hain
palkon ke parde padte hi
sab naate mit jaate hain
jinki chinta mein tu jalta
vey hi chita jalate hain
Surath sees Durjay at the time of rites. He gets very angry but does not say anything.
After the rites are over, Durjay and his men are going back to Vijay Durg.
Mohan β Mamaji, I saw fire in prince Surath's eyes. If we stayed there even a moment, then that fire would have burnt us.
Durjay β Not us but king Garud Dhwaj because it was king Garud Dhwaj's order to close Vijay Durg's entry gate. (He lies.) Because of this, Chandramukh could not enter the city and he was killed. I can see that the delicate relation, which was going to form between Vijay Durg and Chandra Nagri is going to be broken. Poor Surath. We must meet him in the chautha (a ritual) and console him.
During the ritual Chautha
The following sad song plays
ye jivan, ye jivan ek paheli hai
jitna socha utni uljhan
pal mein patjhad, pal mein saavan
sukh ho to roop hai madhuvan ka
dukh ho to raah akeli hai
ye jivan ek paheli hai
ye jivan, ye jiva
Mohan β What if princess Sumukhi comes to know the truth?
Durjay β Do not worry, Mohan. I will not let the truth be known.
Sumukhi β Prince
Surath turns back and sees Sumukhi. The anger in his eyes can be clearly seen.
Sumukhi offers flowers to Chandramukh and Chandrika.
Surath thinks β Father back-stabbed and daughter has come to pat on the back.
(Of course, Surath is thinking wrong. But it is quite natural to have such misunderstandings in such a situation.π)
Surath β You are here?
Sumukhi β I promised that I would be with you in happiness and sorrow.
Durjay β What happened with you was not right, prince.
Sumukhi β It was my fault. After I returned to Vijay Durg, my father wanted to attack Kola Nagri and kill Kalketu. But I stopped him.
Durjay β Otherwise, instead of king Chandramukh, Kalketu would be dead.
Surath β Princess, my father was cheated. He was killed by treachery.
Durjay β What else can be expected from demons?
Surath β My father was brave. He defeated Kalketu and spared his life. And Kalketu cheated him. Princess, my father moved towards Vijay Durg
Durjay interrupts β Vijay Durg has always been and will always with you. You declare war against demons. Vijay Durg will be with you.
Surath β And when we asked for support, then?
Durjay β We supported. When you asked for princess Sumukhi's hand, then we gave immediately.
Surath β Mamaji, when a friend becomes enemy, then it hurts. When one's own becomes stranger, then heart becomes restless. When somebody comes in mourning and instead of consoling, he puts salt on wound, then, together with pain, there is also anger.
Durjay β Forget everything, prince.
Sumukhi β Mamaji is right, prince.
Surath β What do I forget? Do I forget that your father
Durjay interrupts β You are right. How can one forget one's parents?
Sumukhi β Prince, I am with you. I understand the importance of parents. My father wanted to come with you. But he was shocked on hearing the news of king Chandramukh's death and he is unwell.
Surath thinks β With what face was he coming to console me? He is my and my father's culprit.
Sumukhi β Take care of yourself, prince.
Surath β Princess, fate has brought me in such a situation. I am in a dilemma.
Durjay interrupts β Calm down, calm down. And listen to what your heart says. I will return to Vijay Durg with princess Sumukhi today itself because king Garud Dhwaj is not well. Shall we go, princess?
Sumukhi returns with Durjay.
A devi β Ma, what kind of maya is this? When man is standing at the cross-road between love and duty, then does he forget you? Is this cycle of your moh-maya?
Goddess Durga β When man is affected by negative thoughts, then his thinking ability is lost. He sees everything opposte. He sees his friends as his enemies. He trusts those who should not be trusted and he suspects those who should be trusted. This is maya.
In Vijay Durg
Sumukhi β Father, did king Chandramukh come to Vijay Durg when he was injured to ask you for protection?
Garud Dhwaj β When did you come back from Chandra Nagri?
Sumukhi β This is not the answer to my question. Did king Chandramukh come here?
Garud Dhwaj β Yes.
Sumukhi β Is this true that you ordered that Vijay Durg's doors be closed for him?
Garud Dhwaj β No, this is not true. Not I but Durjay got the doors closed.
Sumukhi β You are king. Mama is your assistant. Being king, it is your responsibility, only yours. King Chandramukh was your friend and my would be father-in-law. You closed Vijay Durg's doors for him? If prince Surath closes his heart's doors for me, then I will not live. I will give up my life.
Garud Dhwaj shouts β Stop, Sumukhi.
Then he wakes up. It was a dream.
Queen Vijaya comes running.
Vijaya β What happened?
Garud Dhwaj β Durjay made us a participant in king Chandramukh's death. Nobody will blame Durjay. All fingers will be raised on me. Even my dauther Sumukhi will say that I am responsible for king Chandramukh's murder.
(Why don't you punish Durjay?)
Vijaya β This will not happen.
Garud Dhwaj β When I ordered the doors to be opened, then I did not even imagine that Durjay would order that they be closed. Truth is very bitter. Truth never forgives anybody. I will tell everything to Sumukhi. But I am afraid that I may lose my dauther.
Vijaya β This will not happen, king. You take rest.
Demons kill many sagesπ‘ and they go towards Shanti Nagri.
Sumukhi β Ma, Pitaji! Prince Surath was pretending to be clam. But I could clearly see anger in him. I consoled him but I could not understand some things, which he said. He said that his father's trust was broken. He said that when a friend becomes enemy, then it hurts. What is the meaning of this? Who broke his trust? Pitaji, I am very disturbed.
Gaurd Dhwaj β Do not worry. Everything will be all right.
Durjay(to Mohan and Sohan) β Nothing will be right because problems in Vijay Durg will be good for us.
Mohan β Mamaji, Vijay Durg's kingdom is of your sister.
Sohan β Mohan, there is no use of thinking about brothers and sisters in politics.
Durjay β Who owns buffalo? The one who has its rope. Who owns money? The one who does not give. Who owns kingdom?
Mohan and Sohan β The one who has throne.
Durjay β And to get throne, I need to break many relationships. I need to step onto many shoulders. My sister, my niece and my brother-in-law are those shoulders.
Mohan β Mamaji, why don't you choose the straight path?
Sohan β Yes, why don't you remove king Garud Dhwaj from your way?
Durjay β Never talk like this. I do not believe in violence. And I never lose sight of my target. Therefore, Durjay will get what he wants to get.
Rate β 8/10
It was a sad but gripping episode.
There is remarkable improvement in the acting of Abishek Ohri as Surath.
Arundhati as Sumukhi is excellent.
But I did not find Shalini Kapur's acting as Durga as good as I found in earlier episodes.
