Sumukhi is unconscious. Surath is with her. A lion comes there. Surath puts lots of arrows in its path to stop it. By now, Sumukhi has opened her eyes.
Surath – Princess, how are you?
Sumukhi – I am safe with you.
The lion disappears and goes to Goddess Durga because it was Durga's lion. Saurath and Sumkhi do not see it disappearing because they were talking to each other.
Surath – Why did the lion go so fast? Pavan, isn't the princess more beautiful than in her picture?
Sumukhi – And you are mightier than I had heard.
Surath – Then, this meeting of might and beauty is the best.
Sumukhi – How did you come to save me from Dhumraketu?
Surath – Pavan brought me here. I was going to my Nani's house. Then I came to know that Kalketu sent proposal for marriage between you and his brother. If King Garud Dhwaj refused, then demons will definitely do something wrong. I thought this and Pavan came running here.
Sumukhi – So, Pavan shows you correct path.
Surath – Pavan is my brother, my friend, my well wisher, my body guard, my everything. When I came to know that you are going to Gandhmadan hill with your friends, then I came here. Or, you can say that the desire to meet you and your beauty brought me here.
Sumukhi – Beautiful ladies attract you a lot.
Surath – All beautiful ladies are not Sumukhi.
Sumukhi – What is so special in Sumukhi?
Surath – My Sumukhi is sinless. She is beautiful by both heart and body. I have full faith that she loves me a lot. Don't you? I want answer.
Sumukhi – The language of love has no words.
Surath – O the ten directions, trees and plants, my Sumukhi loves me a lot. I take vow that except you, all women will be stranger for me. I will marry only you.
(This statement is significant because in those days it was common for the men in royal-household to have more than one wife.)
In Vijay Durg
A messenger to Durjay – Princess Sumukhi did not reach Gandhmadan. Her friends and soldiers also did not reach there. Shall I go to Gandhmadan?
Durjay signals him to go.
Sohan – Mamaji, if princess did not go to Gandhmadan, then where did you go?
Mohan – I think she has gone for ever. Mamaji, King Garud Dhwaj rejected Kalketu's proposal. Doesn't it say something?
Durjay – I am thinking the same. May be Kalketu did something. There is nobody to tell anybody anything. What has to happen will happen. This whole Maya is of that Mahamaya Durga.
Durga – It is true that I am Mahamaya. This whole creation is my maya. Human is God's best creation. Still, he is entangled in my moh-maya. My moh-maya is of so many kinds – ego, anger, jealousy. Each has its own color, own speciality.
One goddess – Love is the best color of human life, Ma.
Durga – But if a person gets entangled in any one color and forgets his dury, then he gets caught in the web of my moh-maya.
That goddess – This is why you brought Surath to your old temple, Ma, so that he knows his duty.
Sumukhi is riding on Pavan. Surath is walking.
Surath – Pavan, what will happen to us if the princess goes to her city?
Sumukhi – Pavan, tell the prince to take me to his city at the earliest.
Surath – But how?
Sumukhi – By marrying me.
Sumukhi realizes what she said and feels shy.
They see a temple. Sumukhi sings a shloka: -
sarvamangal maangalye shive sarvaarth-saadhike
sharan trayambike gauri naaraayani namostute
Sumukhi – It is so good that we got to see Ma Durga.
Surath – It looks like Ma Durga has accepted our relaion.
One goddess – Ma, Surath is getting caught up in your web. Will he perform his duty?
Another goddess – Perhaps Mahamaya is testing him.
Sumukhi – Ma Durga must have some purpose in bringing us here. Will you please go out? I want to clean this temple.
Surath – I want to help you.
Sumukhi – If you are here, then even in the temple, my mind will not be at rest.
Surath goes out.
One goddess – Ma, you have given boon to Sumukhi that she will be have proper thinking in all situations. This is why she is using her intelligence.
Durga – It is to be seen that when Sumukhi is caught up in her emotions, then does she give up her intelligence or use her intelligence?

Sumukhi is cleaning the temple. Surath is waiting outside. Following song plays
kabhii kabhii mahaashaktii nav-durgaa nav-rupaa
jiivan mein jyoti-kiran ban ke utar aatii hain
kahaan hamein jaanaa hai, kyaa hamko karnaa hai,
durlabhtam laksh kii dishaa bhii dikhaa jaatii hain
(It essentially says that sometimes divine powers tell us what to do and they show us path even in difficult situations.)
Nine Durgas in the form of nine little girls stand behind Surath. Surath turns around and sees them.
Surath – You?
Girls – We came here by Ma's permission. You have been brought here.
Surath – But you nine baby girls are in this forest?
Girls – We are everywhere and in all directions.
Surath – Do you live in this forest?
Girls – We live in everybody's heart.
Surath – Yes, you cute girls must be living in everybody's heart.
Surath looks at Sumukhi.
Girls – Prince, it is not civilized to look at some other woman like this.
Surath – Other woman? She is my would-be wife.
Girls – She is still not your wife. It is not right to think about a beautiful woman and not Ma Durga in Ma Durga's temple. Do you love Sumukhi? But duty is greater than love. Love is a maya and this world is full of moh-maya. Only the one who comes out of this moh-maya will do his duty.
Surath – You little girls are talking like some knowledgeable.
Girls – Knowledge comes from us.
Pavan plucks flowers.
Surath – Pavan, what are you doing?
Girls – He is worshipping us. You do not understand what he understood.
Surath – Oh? What did he understand?
Girls – That we are nine goddesses.
Sumukhi calls Surath. When he looks at her, then the girls disappear.
Sumukhi – Who were you talking to? And why is Pavan dancing?
Surath – Nine small girls were here. They were here. Where did you go?
Sumukhi – They were not nine small girls but nine Durgas.
Sumukhi runs inside the temple.
Sumukhi – Why didn't you show yourself to me, Ma?
She sees a snake, screams and faints. Surath hears her scream and comes to her. He follows the snake and comes to a chamber where the bodies of his ancestors are kept.
One ancestor – You came here Surath? I am your ancestor.
Others – Me too.
Surath – How did you get in this condition?
Ancestors – We did not get liberation. We could not fulfill our duty of making a temple of Ma Durga. Whenever we tried to make the temple, demonic powers created obstacles. You expect you to complete that work. Destiny has chosen you to make the temple. That is why, you are here. Free us. Make Ma Durga's temple. Do not deviate from your duty.
Surath comes back to Sumukhi, who opens her eyes.
Surath – You said that Ma must have some purpose in bringing us here. I got to know the purpose. For years, my ancestors wanted to make a temple but they could not. I have to do that work. Destiny has chosen me to build that temple. I will start this work soon. Will you be with me in this?
Sumukhi – I am always with you.
Surath puts a ring in Sumukhi's finger. Following song plays
terii prem nishaanii hai, anguthii terii prem nishaanii hai
ki tere sang janmon tak, mere saathii ki tere sang janmon tak
mujhe priit nibhaanii hai, ki tere sang janmon tak
mujhe priit nibhaanii hai
Surath – This represents our love.
Sumukhi – This ring will always tell me that you are with me.
Durga – Man does not know what the path to reach his aim is. Is it love or knowledge or devotion? He thinks that his love will take him to his aim. But he does not know that his love is produced out of lust and not devotion. From lust anger, delusion and wrong thinking are produced. When love is produced from knowledge and devotion, then the rays of knowledge shine in the heart. Darkness is over. Then, man gets his aim. But when he gets caught up in the love produced from lust, then he deviates from his aim, which means deviating from one's duty.
Kalketu does Dhumraketu's final rites.
He says – My dear broher Dhumraketu, like your funeral pure, many pyres will burn in Chandra Nagri.
Kalketu and his men kill many sadhus in Chandra Nagri.
Some sadhus inform this to King Chandramukh.
Chandramukh – Kalketu will be punished. I will do my duty.
Queen Chandrika – King, think before taking any decision.
Chandramukh – Do you want that I should keep thinking and that demon-king should keep on killing saages?
Chandrika – I am asking you to wait till Surath comes. Kalketu knows magic. If Surath were with you, then I would have no fear. But you are going alone.
Chandramukh – Don't you trust my prowess? I will kill Kalketu and meet you.
Chandramukh's guru blesses him. Chandrika keeps trying to stop Chandramukh but he does not stop.
