Jaane kya baat hui to go off air

Isn't it ironical how things change on television in a matter of just 48 hours? On Saturday, we spoke to Cinevistaas' head of fiction Sharad Raj who was all praise for Colors while saying that despite the low ratings, the channel hasn't yet pull the plug on their show jaane kya baat hui And now, poor Raj has told us that the show is going off air on 5 June.

"Unfortunately, this is true now. This decision was taken in the last 24 hours. Jaane kya baat hui will end on 5 June," said Raj.

Despite this decision by Colors, Raj holds nothing against the channel.

"It's unfortunate that such a different show couldn't work. Despite the initial setback, Colors still showed faith in us and gave us a new slot. I'm not sure how other channels would have reacted," Raj sighs.

Apparently, just 48 hours ago all talk centered around the change in the track whereby the channel, after conducing a market research, decided against the original plot of Aradhana having an affair with Shantanu abinav shukla That is what we discussed with Raj on Saturday.

"Colors conducted a market research which showed that the Indian audience is not comfortable with a bahu having an extra marital affair. We respect that and thus we decided going against the original plot. The problem lies with our audience. We are simply not prepared to accept bold and different subjects. Colors had really liked the concept and pumped in lot of money into our show. They are as disappointed as us," adds a disconsolate Raj.

Jaane kya baat hui may be history but Raj has disclosed to us that Cinevistaas is also pitching for a new show for the same channel. However, after Jaane kya.. experience, Raj says that Cinevistaas is no longer willing to have bold subjects.

Well, all we can say is that a this is a classic case of once bitten twice shy.

That's really sad. I am sure that if they had stuck to the original storyline, the show would still be on air as some faithful audiences who like realism and something different would have stuck around. This is a classical case of dhobi ka kutta na ghar ka na ghaat ka. No wonder the show is going off air because it did not appeal to either the masses or the classes.

Well it's somehow true that Indian Audience doesn't prefer watching a Bahu having EMA>..but they could show Divorce, and how a woman struggles against her husband's infidelity! Instead they kept on showing such trashes, that neither Indian, nor Non-Indian audience can accept๐Ÿ˜†

And this was BOUND to happen I am SO happy!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

If they have to go off air in June there maybe not enough time to show AD and Shantanu track. In that case I hope they end with AD being single rather than AD back with Shailendra. That would be TOO SICK.

How sad! It did seem to be a different story.
Though why do the bahus need another man to show the way goes beyond me. Especially today, where almost urban ladies are so inhibited.......I don't see a single typical 'bahu' in my circle at least. ๐Ÿคข All the bahus that I know freely speak their mind today.

The survey says that people only didn't accept Aradhana having EMA with Shant....But they didn't say that she MUST end up with that creepy husband....

I wish she'd have stayed alone.....gosh....nobody deserves her in this show๐Ÿ‘Ž๐ŸผShe and her MIL should live separately....happily forever๐Ÿ˜Š

wonder who does these surveys and who they survey - every discussion forum i see people cribbing about the rubbish they show on tv. yes we see it - but only cause we dont have decent entertainment options. but there are enough of us out there who would really appreciate some good shows and would gladly move away from all the K, bahu, beti rubbish shows.
as many of you have pointed out kekta's shows have so many extramarital affairs, illegit kids...how many wives or mistresses did mihir / karan or that other brother (thank god I am forgetting their names) / jai walia etc have - and this is from just TWO shows. anyone remember ghar ki lakshmi and how disgusting it was that no one raised the issue of bigamy!? did any women's organization ask for that show to be banned?!
what kind of an audience is willing to accept women being shown as vamps, obsessively chasing married men, plotting and scheming each other's downfall and what not, but not women standing upto some abusive or cheating husband and walking out on him or deciding to have an extra marital affair (whether the husband is a cheat or not a cheat.) JKBH, saat phere, jassi, etc all started out on a decent premise - then all started catering to this same "audience" that refuses to accept JKBH as it was originally envisioned. and is this the ONLY audience out there? i refuse to believe that. when i was a kid i remember shows like buniyaad, hum log, fauji, mahabharat - i recall the kind of crazy following they had and the how most women characters were portrayed strong.
now all i see when i turn on the tv is women crying (victim) / scheming (perpetrator) - whether its a mom, daughter, grandmom, mother in law....i mean COME ON! sadly the tv channels do not support anything innovative - giving "different" shows crappy time slots doesnt help. i watched this show hoping that she would either walk out him and do extremely well in life and hopefully chose to do it with shan as a friend. but look at the mess we have now. while everybody is worried about what impact sex and violence has on the audience - i am more concerned the impact that these shows will have on the role and image of women in society!
but i digress and to summarize my ranting - all tv shows suck and i wish we could get that message across to the powers that be with a massive boycott of all TV shows and especially all things KEKTA the original perpetrator. i know it wont happen - but one can always dream! i refuse to see such demeaning crap. and i am better off getting those extra z's or spending money downloading lost, grey's, bones, house...woooohoooo i have so many other options! ๐Ÿ˜Š
