After playing Maham Anga in Jodha Akbar, Ashwini Kalsekar will now be seen in Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar. Ashwini will be playing the role of Ronit Roy's sister and her character has shades of grey.
She told us, "I'm playing a very contemporary character called Pam, who is very possessive of her brother and his kids. She has brought the kids up with his brother's wife after her their divorce. She is like a mother to his kids. However, she holds Pallavi's character (Ronit's wife) responsible for all the things that went wrong in their marriage. The show is based in the US."
The actress also feels that it is a little relaxing to play a modern character. "When you are playing a contemporary character, you can speak Hindi and English but while playing a historical role, there's a certain kind of language that you have to speak." she added. Ashwini says that it is because of Ekta Kapoor that she has been getting meaty roles and characters that are remembered. "I completely owe it to her. She gives her characters so much background that they become memorable. I can't thank her enough. In fact, it is a ritual for me to go and meet Ekta every day before I got to the sets and take a narration for my script from her. You might call it a superstition but I always try to see the character from Ekta's point of view."
