"Kabhi kabhi jeetne ke liye kuch haarna bhi padta hai ... aur haar kar jeetne waale ko baazigar kehte hai I am sure you all know this famous dialogue by SRK from the movie Baazigar, and this was the first thing that crossed my mind in order to describe our character of the week.

This entire week saw Anika trying to unwillingly create a distance between herself and Shivaay, to make Shivaay turn against her, hate her and walk away from her. Why? Because Pinky Aunty has asked her to do so. Why? Because if Anika does not go away from Shivaay life, Pinky aunty has threatened to reveal the truth about Shivaay's birth to him which as we all know would destroy him. Why? Because Pinky Aunty is plain insecure.

We all have been lamenting at Pinky's antics and her need to kick Anika out of Shivaay life; ever since Shivaay's heart recognized Anika's heart as his own. The two have fallen deeply in love and this is something Pinky has a great difficulty accepting. Wanting to keep Shivaay safe from every pain and heart-break; especially the devastating truth about his birth, Anika agreed to Pinky's condition of going away from Shivaay's life. But the realization that her husband's love for her is etched deep within his soul, makes the task much more difficult than she anticipated. Anika soon understands that no matter what she does, Shivaay is never going to let her walk away or kick her out of his life, and so Mrs. Shivaay Singh Oberoi decides to bring in the big guns. She tries to tarnish her image in Shivaay's eyes by first behaving rudely with Pinky (Something Anika would never do), and when she realizes that it is not enough, she targets OmRu aka Omkara and Rudra a topic she is confident would at least make a crack in the perfect image of hers that Shivaay holds in his heart.

As of now there is no telling if Anika will succeed or not because Shivaay seems to understand that Anika is behaving out of character, and that there is a reason behind it. He is giving her the benefit of the doubt which is a rare for Shivaay Singh Oberoi and that itself is testimony to his feelings for Anika. We all know what this means, don't we? Anika is going to have to fall really low in Shivaay's eyes and I have no doubts that she would go to any extent if that means he never has to know the truth about his birth, because she knows what factors such a khoon and khandaan means to him. A wife doing something like this for husband to protect him, for the sake of love is not new. For that matter neither is a serious tiff between the wife and the mother-in-law or a mother-in-law threatened by the wife scenario. However the execution of the scene between Pinky and Anika before the episode ended on Friday is what gave Anika's character an edge over the others and made her our character of the week.
