Episode 4 - How Deep is your love

The scenario writers continue to exploit the divided sentiments of the big C = consummated & confused viewers.

Nare realizes that it’s time to move on from the legend of the tree inscriptions and gives herself a new age manicure. Gediz adds on acts of chaperon, bodyguard and most importantly has the time and sensibility to pierce into Nare’s overburdening dastan.

18 till I Die is definitely not on Nare’s playlist. She would rather prefer Papa don’t Preach. Akin and Sefir Guven look guilty party for a pre-rape agreement. Good work by assistant directors to bring in the Indian Sitar and table as background score. Nare could have worn a sari or lehnga ( native gown) to enhance enthusiasm of a teenager.

If Nare is the use case of how to get pregnant in one attempt, Menekse defines an acceptance criteria as a son. User story, acceptance criteria are all agile methods of processes. ;-)

Sancar – what do I write about him this time? The more brooding and bottled up he is….the more he throws up ash like the Taal volcano in the Philippines. He shoots himself in the foot for more than one occasion – buy back of Melek or stopping a job opportunity for Nare and the epic show down with Gediz.

Guven is a soft target who is controlled by Akin and his alibi – driver, casino owners and anything underhand. Glad that Guven is officially put on hold for his actions. But you see idle mind is devil’s workshop.

How deep is your love, how deep is your love?

I really need to learn 'cause we're living in a world of fools

Breaking us down when they all should let us be

- Beegees

A mountain would likely to erode due to climatic changes and break down into stones and meaning of lesser value if there is no vegetation. A tree would need a support and richness of mountains to grow and bear fruits. Nature’s symbiosis is very well summarized in the few dialogues Nare says to Gediz. And this is the possible reason for her sudden decision to elope with Sancar and secure her invasion of privacy further on from Akin.?

She would live in denial, but her emotional tree is deep rooted in the mountain elements of Sancar.

Sancar’s outburst with Gediz at the oil factory shows that he is deeply ashamed of his past behavior with Nare and doesn’t have the self-belief to either own up or correct it. Melek's frequent reality checks of his brash behavior which should trigger the thawing of the conscience.

Halise and her cheap tricks of divide and rule -keep Menekse engaged in this marriage, Elvan guilty of being barren etc is dated.

Time and again scenes of sibling bonding, creates an anxiety of a possible break-up in the testing times.

Melek & Yahya were a delight to watch. They haven't lost their marbles.(for sure)

And finally to the divided fan clubs…Nare-Gediz or Nare- Sancar are equally poised. Nare is grown into a woman of her own mind and she knows what’s best for her.(IMO) She always travels by her car etc which depicts that she has lost the capacity to trust anyone, but there is a strong sense of determination to prune her emotional tree and graft new life of a job, dignity, independence etc.

Superlative acting by 3 leads – Engin is soaking himself in the character, Gediz chills with ease. Some scenes reminds me of Johnny Depp from the Pirates Series. Nesli..girl you make sure that we all squeeze few tears.

Can you now answer the type of love the 3 leads are experiencing - Eros, Ludus, Storage, Mania, Agape, Pragma? And how deep is that?

When one of the writers was asked “did you ever imagine Engin and Neslihan in these roles while writing the script?”.

Ayca answered: the character of Sancar was actually written for Engin from the beginning. Then Neslihan came from the production and we loved her a lot as well.” ❤️

Episode 5 - Earthquake of egos

The episode shows the fissures of friendship growing deeper. This drama has two words which sends tremors – unconditional love and trust.

Gediz and Sancar walk away as angry kids who lost a local game and swear to things which they oblivious of. Presumption of Gediz getting closer to Nare and conceitedness to accept the mistake 10 years ago cause a jolt.

Nare tries her best to do some damage control, thanks to the Japanese fable and a business plan to suit the plot. Her first day at job is quite eventful and she works like a boss to keep Dudu’s haughtiness checked.

Halise allures Nejdat for a better life in return of an ego massage. Menekse’s understands the vulnerability of her situation when Elvan gives her a reality check of a possible divorcee. She runs to her brother to trade her wedding heirloom. *background score - Cause we are living in a material world, And I am a material girl*

The Iskili and Efegolu face-off divides Yahya’s roles of a dutiful brother and stakeholder of the Sadicar holdings. Halise-Refika to draw blood lines to brag of their lineage and accomplishments, but they so blind in self-love to introspect an achievement of their own!!

Elvan is a revelation in this episode. Not only did she hold up for Yahya’s disappointment, but also played an alibi to the plan. Sancar is best understood by Melek. She playfully gives the taste of his own medicine to say sorry and make up for their bad behavior. (really heartwarming scenes)

Kavrug & Zehra playing with Melek in stolen glances is another dastan-e-ask to start!!

Geje’s neigh is like a Morse code for Sancar to know Nare’s is at his door. The stable becomes are new place for a date night….and burden of pride comes crashing to help each other.

Opinions has caused more trouble on this little earth than plague or earthquakes – Voltaire.

And opinion is a manifestation of ego.

Guven plays the same old tricks to slam Sancar, Akin still plays in the background. To be honest, he has the least screen space being the antagonist of a drama. Why? Are the narratives unsure and waiting for TRP verdicts?

Nare and Sancar know the mind games being played, they should learn to starve the ego and feed their souls. If souls are heard, then there would be wonders of good things which are followed by an earthquake - new beginnings.

Episode 6 - Probability of trust

Wolf of the Wall Street is replayed in the enforcement directorate offices. The shrewd commissioners question the Merchant of Mugla which takes a chance on their partnership and its business.

While the female commissioner looked far more empathetic with Sancar, the male counterpart looked more menacing.

The extended family of Efegolu is evicted from their pride with flashbacks on their humble beginnings. Btw young Refika looked dis-interested in the affairs and young Halise too humble to her present cut. There is something more than meets the eye…..

Elvan and Menekse make a sharp contrast of what it means to support a family during hardships.

Charlie’s angels with all the swag and stash millions of Lira in bag packs and stolen taxi ;-)

Melek is packed off to the sanctum of love, where Kavrug and Zehra act as her playdates. Kavrug’s reinforcement of her baba being innocent is reality that kids believe life to be black or white.

Sancar and Gediz solve the whodunit very quickly, with much of their reliable network on alert. Gediz’s playful, but yet tyrannical gestures with Guven were worth watching.

Sancar and Gediz carefully spell out half-truth to comfort Nare, who is like a crumbling cookie with injuries from mugging and post trauma stress looming at her. Her mind is actively looking for re-assurances from Sancar to play an antidote for her deep seated trauma.

History repeats!!

His grudges held high to Nare begins to thaw because he realizes how innocent and childlike she believes in his claimed innocence of malpractices in municipality funds.

The scenes where he caress’s her hair & cheeks is so mesmerizing

Dad -Daughter heart to heart talk is a short cut to many emotions flying against time. Melek simplifies the expectation at the Iskili Manor without much hesitation on the reality. Kids…they are so brave!!

Guven is caught in the web of his lies, however neither Nare-Sancar or Guven realize the odds of a 3rd person fixing them against each other. Oh that is called creative sin.

Gediz triggers Nare to get rid of misunderstanding of the fateful day of Sancar-Nare separation. What makes him do so? Some say Gediz is Sancar alter ego or ideal version of Sancar etc..which makes him behave so perfect to believe. He might be doing more good to bring Sancar –Nare together than actually finding an outside chance to win the trust of Nare. Let’s see how the character arc is developed for him.

Flood gates open. Sancar can no longer charade with his grey acts and brings Nare to introspect on the reality in a reversal of roles. Perhaps Nare realizes that she and Sancar just loved each other, but never trusted.

The trust of the innocent is liar’s most useful tool – Stephan King

Final scenes of Akin holding Muge in his arms and with promises of bringing world at her feet. Dramatic twist to the characters when the fan camps were almost settled with celebrations.

Well for Muge..what is the compelling reason(read as parasitic) to love Akin?

Maybe she was upset of losing the prestigious villa to a servant’s family or having to face humiliation with her father being a co-gambler with Guven and going bankrupt or Akin is blackmailing her with some other family secret?

The missing loops are if Muge knew Akin, why didn’t Gediz recognize him?

Probability is based on events and not on facts. The fuzzy logic captures truth which is trust between characters. All the characters are caught between probability of trusting each other – Guven & Nare, Sancar & Gediz, Akin&Guven, Halise&Refika, Elvan& Menekse……

How do you reason the argument of trust?
