The much awaited mega event in IPL calendar will start in about 4 hours.
Can't wait to see Mallika Sagar auctioning various players in her unique style.
Can't wait see whether anyone is going to break the 25 crore barrier in this year's auction or not. So many dreams will come true.
Cheers..
What is the format of the auction?
The auction will get underway with the two marquee sets. Following this, the first set of capped players, categorised into batters, seamers, wicket-keepers, spinners, and all-rounders, will go under the hammer.
Next, uncapped players from these categories will be up for grabs, followed by another round of capped players.
Once these rounds are complete, the accelerated auction will commence.

Each franchise was allowed to spend Rs 120 crore on their squads - an increase from Rs 100 crore in the previous year. Punjab Kings - Rs 110.5 crore
Rajasthan Royals - Rs 41 crore
Royal Challengers Bengaluru - Rs 83 crore
Delhi Capitals - Rs 73 crore

I am travelling back to Delhi. I will catch up later in the evening
At the auction, teams will be looking to bid for captains, wicketkeepers, batters, bowlers and all-rounders. Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Jos Buttler and Aiden Markram have all been skippers in the past and will be up for grabs. Iyer, having led KKR to the title last year, could be hot property. As could be Pant who wasn't retained by the Delhi Capitals. KL Rahul, who is nifty as a keeper, batter and skipper, could be much sought-after as well. It is promising to be a banger of an auction
What is an accelerated auction?
Although the auction list includes over 577 players, not all of them will go under the hammer.
The accelerated auction process will begin from the 117th player onwards. The BCCI has informed the 10 franchises that the first accelerated phase will cover players from 117 to 577.
By 10pm IST on Sunday, the 10 franchises must nominate a specified number of players from this group.
Once these players are auctioned, franchises will be invited to submit names of unsold or unauctioned players for another round of the accelerated process.
With top Indian stars like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer entering the auction, there is a possibility that the Rs 25-crore ceiling might be broken this time. Pant, Iyer, and Arshdeep listed in the first set of marquee players that will feature on Day 1 of the auction, while the second includes Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj. Indian-capped stars make up seven of the 12 marquee names at the auction.
A Look At The Marquee Sets
There are a total of 2 marquee sets which will be brought up in the auction first. Here's a look at the two sets:
Marquee Set 1: Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Jos Buttler, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, and Mitchell Starc.
Marquee Set 2: consists of KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj.
37 Aussies set to go under the hammer as $120m mega bonanza explained: IPL Auction guide
The world’s biggest cricket auction is all set for this Sunday evening, with 37 Australians throwing their hat in the Indian Premier League ring for 2025 — and this year, it’s going to be mega.
The Australian cohort make up just over six per cent of the player submissions for the tournament, with a whopping 574 cricketers to feature in the auction being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Of the 574 registered players, 366 of them are local players — meaning the remaining 208 players will qualify as overseas imports.
Within the 208 overseas players, Ali Khan (USA), Unmukt Chand (USA) and Brandon McMullen (Scotland) are the three players to make the cut from associate nations.
But beyond plenty of registrations for the tournament, why is this year’s auction going to be so big?
WHAT IS A MEGA AUCTION?
In the IPL, a mega auction is held every three to four years, and it forces each franchise to rebuild their previously assembled squads almost entirely.
