According to Tripura Rahasya, Devi Tripura Sundari existed before Universe began. Hence the question was for Her.
Devi Durga appeared from combined energies of All Devas & Tridev, to kill Mahishasur.
After killing Mahishasura, Devi Durga, went to Vindhyachal mount, to rest. She is still present there as Vindhya vasini.

In Mani dweep, Shree mata resides on the divine throne .. shivaakara …where she where she sits in the lap of The lord Mahadev .
The four legs of her throne shivaakara , denote Brahma , Vishu, Mahadev and Dharma .
