Infact I do agree with you Ssk it is what our "Ears get Accustomed to"!
I never knew there was a female version of Tum mile & that also in Alkajis voice, I had heard Kumar sanus version many times & also remember there was a female voice along with Kumar i.e of K S chitra, Lovely song!
Now coming back to Alkaji, I feel she has done a fair job & I really appreciate her singing over here. This song was quite unexpected for me as I though KANK will be most probably played in Final, but I must say its a wonderful surprise.
I ll rate it a 9 as I feel though its a well sung it doesnt match up to Barso re.

Finale. The ultimate test of alkaji's vocal chord. Is she able to deliver?

Its not a track which you all will digest easily. Again, one hearing is not enough to get the crux. Twice or thrice and then you begin to get another different side of alkaji. Her voice sounds like a mix of late 70s-early 80s due to her take on high notes and a totally different scale of singing, which is a good thing.

Well, if we go deep analyzing this, the best part is that this track does not get boring despite alkaji's voice sounding laboured at the highest of notes. She was made to sing in a totally different pitch which was beyond her usual range at that time and at the same time, her high notes does have some hint of voice control too, if we notice carefully. The other alkaji's tracks have high notes which can sometimes sound too loud. But not in this.

Now, why did I mention the ultimate test of vocal cord?
That's because she makes a bold attempt to sing beyond her usual scope and comes out triumphs to a great extent. At high pitches, her voice does go a bit laboured and maybe a bit artificial but the melody is there, a big plus point on a romantic track. Clarity too is consistent but could have been better.

The main drawback that this track lacks is consistency in singing. Alkaji seems hurried in finishing the lines by her way of pronunciation in the beginning but makes it up with her overall feel that does some help in disguising this error a bit.

Another drawback is that her voice does sound a bit kiddish when modulating her voice and changing her scale, not necessarily a good thing, BUT given the difficulty of the composition, is acceptable and to many ears, does sound sweet too.

Well, a big contribution by music director Maragatha Mani Keeravaani too has to be credited. The tunes are soulful, full of feel and literally this track is still a cult in today's times despite being 16 years old. He decided to give alkaji a "different" experimental track and has succeeded in it quite a bit.

Now, despite its drawbacks, a combination of feel, melody, background tune and alkaji's "different" singing deserves a 9/10.

Thanks RA for this track. I cannot give anything more, or anything less. Just because I like to hear "different" tracks.
You all too can listen in a good set of audio and despite its flaws, appreciate the overall effort that alkaji has tried into this.

Let me give my comments on the song.

I think this was Alka's best singing in the entire competition. Well, it's close, but this might be it.

Excellent. Right from the start,

tuu mile dil khile aur jiine ko kyaa chaahiye
very well done with great feel, great voice quality, and just nice and simple like needed. After that,
naa ho tuu udaas tere paas paas mai.n rahuu.ngaa zindagii bhar

Now we go fast. So the song starts out slow, and then Alka sings fast. Already this song has shown 2 different tempos, both well sung by Alka.

And then, we climax with
saare sa.nsaar kaa pyaar maine tujhii me.n paayaa
Very well done! Alka Yagnik high pitches here I think were perfect. They had great feel, and there was no thinning, just very well sung. And you could see the emotion coming out while she was singing these lines.

The post-main sequences are also very strong.

Gham Hai Kise Ho Sara Jahaan Chahe Dushmana Ho
Kya Chahiye Haathon Mein Jo Tera Daman Ho
Tu Hai Jahan Manzil Wahaan
Dhadakano Ki Tarah Apane Dil Men Mujhko Chhupa Lo

I think the feel and expressions Alka gives this song are amazing. Once again, not that easy of a sequence to sing. The pitch throughout this sequence was pretty high. Also, it was just flawless once again. All throughout this sequence, and there were some nice harkats added here and there. And once again, the finish, was well done, as she had to high again, while singing at a fast tempo. That kind of felt rushed, but that's more due to the composition than Alka.

Overall, excellent singing by Alka Yagnik! It was a very nice composition, that Alka just added a lot of magic too. Like I said, if you are used to the Kumar Sanu version, you will find this one weird, and vice-verca. But I believe this is one of Alka's best works. It was flawless, great voice quality, and just the perfect expressions needed for this song.

Yes most definitely. Even I find songs when sung by a singer that I'm not expecting sounding a bit odd. Nonetheless, this was top-class singing from Alkaji.

I listened to the Kumar Sanu version afterward. I liked Alka's version better. Once your ears become accustomed to hearing one version, the other sounds wrong and different.

To be honest, even Alka's high notes were well done and they weren't easy either. She didn't sound screechy at all, and to me it felt like she had a lot of feel in the song. I couldn't say the same for Kumar's version.

Once again, it's what your ears become accustomed to hearing.

I also hate it when someone comes in a thread just to rip a singer. Seriously, that shows something is wrong with that person's character. After all this time, you come in just to rip a singer. Rather than coming in some other time to appreciate a singer.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I always respect legendary singers like Alka, and never would come just to rip them.

But yeah, I would say this is Alka's best performance, along with "Taal se Taal" and "Saanwariya Saanwariya". Lots of tempo variations, excellent expressions to a lovely song, 1st class voice quality, great high pitches throughout the song, and just overall flawless.

Like Killer, I thought a Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna song would be used because that's one of her biggest hits of this decade.

But it's always nice to see a surprising selection.
