Note: This is the Final Round. It's more heavy on posts with comments than those who just vote on the thread. Also, the Judges will comment, but won't post their ratings. They will be revealed when the Final Scores are computed.

Nice song selection for Alka Yagnik. Bringing back some old memories. I'd say this the best for her so far in this entire competition.

Hmm I think there was a male version of this song. Provides a nice point of comparison.

How? We are not comparing Alka to some male singer. 😆

Erm were just comparing how well the composition can be sung. And if two singers sing it, you can compare their interpretations/renditions of the composition.

Lemme see. For example, Himesh sang 'Ek Hasina Thi' and so did Kishoreda. Even if Himesh sang well, but he didn't reach the heights of Kishoreda, it shows that he didn't do full justice to the composition - he could have done a better job.

Of course, sometimes the comparison yields that both were awesome renditions, for example the recent Dhan Dhan Dharti song from Raajneeti sung by both Shankar Mahadevan and Sonu Nigam.

btw the male version was by Kumar Sanu if I remember correctly 🤔

Well maybe. But the things that makes it difficult is its male and female.

Also, I think Himesh sang it better. 😉

I dont think male/female is such a big difference. The lyrics and scale might be changed, that's all.

Yeah we all know what you think SSK. 😆

Well before I start, I want to say this is the first time I'm doing a rating, you may not agree with me but please don't bash, I don't need the unnecessary drama.

If I can respect your opinion then you can do the same for me.

The reason I even chose to rate this was because 'Tu Mile', sung by Kumar Sanu is and has been my absolute favorite song of all time and to see it butchered like this by Alka shocked me. All I can say is I can't even believe she's singing the same song as Kumar Sanu.

Yes, I understand this is not a comparing competition between the two versions, but to see her ABSOLUTELY RUIN my favorite song was enough for me to rush in and comment. It's important to see different renditions, regardless whether it's a male or a female version just to see if the appropriate emotion of the song was captured.

To Those Who Haven't Heard Kumar's Version:

Have a Listen to how the song SHOULD sound

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcsJMQsjFKI

I don't even know where to begin with Alka on this.

From beginning to end it was a complete disaster. Forget not even understanding the emotion behind the lyrics, she couldn't even get the words to flow together. Did she even know she was singing a SONG and not just saying some words??

Here are some examples:

Na Ho Tu Udaas Tere Paas Paas: Listen to the break she gives between tu and udaas

It distracts the listener from the song enough to notice this break

There were obvious signs she was losing breath throughout the song and her little gasps were quite noticeable. She also decided not to give some words a clean ending, for example: saare sansar ka pyaar

WHY was 'ka' broken off like that?? Did it not deserve to be elongated??

Throughout she was screechy, loud, overbearing and completely moved away from the soft/mellow feel of the song

Notice how she started a few of the lines with such a screech, literally had me wincing ' Unhe Kise

To just quickly sum it up, she was screechy, loud, didn't feel what the lyrics were saying, was out of breath, didn't allow certain words to flow ontop of how horrible her English was

Therefore, My Rating is: 5.5

Her singing was a complete joke! Even CPR can sing better than her! 😛

Since 5.0 is bollywood average, 5.5 seems fair for me as the 0.5 is for the "singing"

I also want to add that I think Alka is a fantastic singer, but this just wasn't the song for her and didn't give full justice to her voice. She HAS sung better!

Just look at this lovely song as proof! 😃

I listened to the Kumar Sanu version afterward. I liked Alka's version better. Once your ears become accustomed to hearing one version, the other sounds wrong and different.

To be honest, even Alka's high notes were well done and they weren't easy either. She didn't sound screechy at all, and to me it felt like she had a lot of feel in the song. I couldn't say the same for Kumar's version.

Once again, it's what your ears become accustomed to hearing.
