Reminder: This Round the people that post their ratings in threads (with at least a sentence of reason) will have their ratings counted MUCH more than just a poll vote.

CPR's Rating for this song:

What a beautiful song, in my opinion. Probably one of Alka ji's best song. Actually its quite difficult to pick out one song that is Alka ji's absolute best. With the wide variety of songs that she has sung its hard to pick just one. So this is one that def is on the top of the charts.

I actually think she sounds very different in this song. Not the typical Alka ji type of song. Very soothing and relaxing to listen to. I don't know I just felt it was very different in comparion to the other songs that she has sung thus far, which is a whole collection.

Her expressions were beautifully brought out in the song. She sung with the right feel to the song. It was like a "shy" type of voice, if that made any sense! 😆 Even her high notes were so clean. It was so hard to point out a flaw.

I thought this wasn't an easy song to sing. There were a lot of different variations that were needed for the song to have its effect. And Alka ji did just that to bring out the best in the song.

Listening to this song multiple times, I just kept thinking no other singer would have been able to pull it off the right way like Alka ji did. She had perfect expressions, feel, raag, sargam, and everything. Even her high notes were really strong in my opinion.

Final Rating: 9.5 but I think it really deserves a 10!

Reason for choosing this song: When I heard this song for the first time, even though I liked it I didn't think it was strong enough for Alka ji, especially because the competition is a tough one. But then as I kept listening to it more and more, I thought this is one of Alka ji's best piece of music. I can't say best, because with all the songs she has sung thus far its so hard to pinpoint just one song as her best. But this song certainly did come very close! I thought this song brought a whole new feel of singing from Alka ji. Her voice didn't sound as the typical Alka ji song. Had I not known her singing so well, it'd be so hard to point out that it was indeed her voice. I thought the song brought out a lot from Alka ji's voice. It demanded a lot from the singer, which Alka ji did so well to bring out in her voice. I don't know what others have to say about this song selection, but for me it was beyond magical!

I am quite impressed with Alkajis singing, this rounds going to be tough for me! Her voice quality throught was very good, I think I am confused somewhere between 9 & 10. This might not be as perfect as Shreya's Mere dholna but I enjoyed it more than Kavitajis Qayamat ho, so therefore Alkaji falls somewhere in the middle.
I shall rate her a 9.5!

This is probably one if the best songs sing by Alka ji, but listening to it critically tells a different story.

She starts of on the right note, good modulation in singing. The problem arises is when she gives way too much importance to the feel rather than the tone of the song. Sure she's got a fabulous voice, but that doesn't mean that she should be too negligent of her own singing. Anyways, that kept bugging me throughout the song. Coming to the high notes, some ofthem were pleasing to hear but there came a point, where she went too high, almost screening, which didn't sound good at all. Other than that, I found no faults. A 9!

Its a big gamble but only time will tell whats in store for the finale.

Like many times i mentioned, Indian music gives you a huge scope for experimentation and sometimes the results can be outstanding, sometimes good and sometimes below par. But the results in this case is somewhere between good and outstanding. But good is no longer good enough.

This is an experimental track and you get to hear alkaji's different side to it. Her scale and throw of voice is pretty radically different from the "usual alkaji tracks" that we had came to listen in the past.

Alkaji's traits of superb voice quality, change in voice modulation and singing half to one scale high in the middle of the track is commendable, but the ending is bizarre, leaves a lot to be desired..in fact one keeps wondering that a next verse will come and nothing in turn comes up..at least a feel should be done to make sure to the end listener that the song is ending.

Another drawback against alkaji's singing in this track is that her own strength of high notes turns out to be a weakness. She puts much more strain to her vocal chord than the usual and the results are very good for a common listener, but when you listen to it in deep the flaws begin to come out, even though its difficult to point out. This clever disguise is actually a major high point of this track and earns alkaji some brownie points.

But there are some positives to it too-like this is actually not an easy song to sing. It is an extreme test to control voice at a limited range, just like extracting maximum power out of a diesel engine in its limited power band by correct use of gearbox, in this case, the vocal chord. This is sheer brilliance of alkaji and again earns her some brownie points.

The background music is pretty mediocre, but again alkaji's talent lifts the spirits of his track high. Her singing is almost roller coaster like throughout but do you know at beginning portions, her "flat singing" simply is the best part of the track. It makes yo appreciate the importance of scale and voice control. her high notes are not necessarily the best but again she has made that effort to disguise the hidden faults. Again towards the end, her voice quality is good and gives this song a much needed boost.

Its just the ending that leaves much to be desired.

Nevertheless, for the all roundedness of this track and considering alkaji's efforts, this deserves a 9/10.👏

Not more than that. Just because shreya's track was too good for this.

One of Alkaji's best indeed. I think I was the one to recommend this to CPR a few rounds ago.

The song is an interesting case, because Rahman recorded a Tamil version called 'Kaviriya Kaviriya' in the voice of Madhushree - one of the most perfect new voices. When she was knew, some reviewers felt her voice resembled Alkaji's, although now she's more of a dead-ringer for Sadhanaji.

Rahman uses Madhushree in songs we would expect Alkaji. For example, he composed duets like 'Hum Hain Iss Pal Yahan' and 'Yaar Mila Tha' and instead of using the classic Udit-Alka pair, he used Udit-Madhushree. There is also a possibility that the song 'In Lamhon Ke Daaman Mein' from Jodhaa Akbar was first recorded by Alkaji and then re-dubbed by Madhushree.

Anyway, please listen to Kaviriya Kaviriya as a useful point of comparison:

Ahhhhh...another favorite song of mine...lovely!

The best thing about Alka ji singing a romantic song is that there is abundance of expressions in every line. Voice moves very smoothly with the flow, however, sharpness is there in the high notes of the song, this is the down point of this performance. Throw is fantastically adhered with the song. The Alka magic is evident in this song, no doubt. She makes the listener move with her, that is the emotive quality of her singing in this song. Overall, a really nice job done with the song. It definitely creates a mesmerizing impact on the listener.

I would like to give a 9 out of 10 to this performance.
