Round 11: Sunidhi Chauhan

I can term this as "A very weak song selection", if for the starting rounds then it would have been good, but now as only few rounds remaining & competitions getting tougher. Anyways I ll listen to it carefully & comeback with my ratings on it.

This song is bloody good. Killer singing too.

From start to finish, it keeps the listener hooked by the quality of singing, attitude, variations of sur and tempo and most important, the mood captured in contemporary celluloid. The film may have bombed, but this sushmita sen's hot dance track sung superbly by- the- then- 17- year- old teen singer sunidhi just belies her age.

Lets start.

she starts on a promising note with her trademark high notes full of energy. attitude shown and reeks of it clearly. astonishing.

second point, in the middle-the repeat of words "mast mast mast..."in varying scales-low, high, lower, low, high, higher...etc" in close to one breath, bloody perfect.

The level of attitude-angry young women seeking revenge being the theme of the track-shown by sunidhi in this track is just an understatement. Superb bass by Anu Malik at the background only adds to the energy.

At the end-the way she ends-from loud to being soft, softer, softest and then a slow, witty dead end, just reeks of the level of effort that she has put into making this track a commercial success in 2000-2001.

It has everything that a singer can get to sing-high notes, low notes, varying scales, variation in tempos, attitude, softness, breath control and timing plus strong voice-all blended into one fine heck of a singer called sunidhi.

This along with kavitaji's tracks are equal benchmarks for round 11 in my books.

Why? Just listen to this track and ask yourself-how many singers in the age of 17 can sing a composition this difficult? Words cannot describe it.
And why the age factor counts in this particular track? Only one answer-increase the volume and enjoy this hell of a performance by sunidhi chauhan.

Brilliant singing by Sunidhi Chauhan!


Just great all throughout the song. Amazing expressions, especially at such a young age. Actually all throughout her young days she sang songs with such maturity ,even MDs were amazed. She showed once again, how talented she is throughout this song.

Her high pitches were good, while her low pitches were also good. The "Mehboob mereeeehee" lines were great, and she had nice harkats and prolongation of some words throughout the song.


Overall great singing. I thought it was flawless. And it was a pretty difficult song, though I think it wasn't that difficult either. The song wasn't that demanding. Nonethless, Sunidhi did a great job to the extent she was supposed to, nice singing all the way.

Bad song selection for her! This song was too overrated and so was her singing. This is too simple for her, and that too she did so dully. Nowhere did she do anything extraordinary by her standards. A 7!

Quite a popular song of Sunidhi..

The attitude required for the song is very much there. In some places, I felt she could have introduced more power. A simple track. I liked the high notes of Sunidhi. This is genuinely her forte. Expressions are pretty accurate, the aggression, the passion - all is there. Though this song is one of her earlier performances, but still it has a magical passion to it, which does not fade. Overall, good singing.

I would like to give a 9 out of 10 to this performance.
