Bored of alkaji's typical high note tracks?
Listen to this, again, and again, and you wont be disappointed.
Its one hell of a contemporary track. Alkaji's singing shines throughout the range from start to finish and listeners will be pleased with her voice quality plus her scale variations.
yes, if we just listen to it once and start judging, its easy to dismiss this as "a typical straight forward song", but those who really appreciate Indian music will get to pick the finest of hidden details that alkaji has shown while singing this song. She sings one scale lower than her usual, then goes half up-half-down-one-up in the linings "gali nein aaj chand niklaaa"-towards the end word, niklaa-superb voice modulation there.
Another high point is the expression-loads and loads of it. If we want a simple track to impress a listener without too much effort, this is it. The expression is not merely visible from over the top per se, but when listened in deep detail, it starts to come out.
This track, I see it as actually one of alkaji's best in recent times. Why? because she experiments with variations in sur and tempo an comes out triumphs, even in a light hearted mood, the song's USP. Really this is the beauty of contemporary Indian music.
Even if it does succeed in making one happy, you would love to dance softly in this one.
Why? Turn on the volume, and just listen to it. Its really not what I call perfect, but sincerely close to it.
