You really think the majority is going to follow the early pattern? No way.

Thanks alot risingabove for selecting this song. Kuch kuch hota hai is indeed the most beautiful song & we cant deny that Alkaji is the queen of romantic songs! It truly brings up the essense of love & romance, alka & udit are at their best in this song. But I dont know I find it weird whenever I select any song for alka it gets such messed up response, I suggested this song bcoz its alka's most beautiful romantic melody & she even won Filmfare & a National award for it. Ok last time chamma chamma or ishq kamina got bad response I can understand but Kuch kuch hota hai is the best & most beautiful song & it will remain in history of indian music, infact I guess its the best song of round 10. Infact I dont think so that anyone can ever dislike this song. Anyways the round has just started so lets see what happens further, things will surely improve.
Anyways according to me Alkaji's beautiful singing deserves a 10!

Ok first off I want to apologize to anyone who thought that I spoke too soon. I was just a bit shocked seeing low scores. Anyways sorry! Whoever did rate her 1's though surely doesn't know that much about music or isn't serious about this competition.

Anyways I have grown up listening to this song. It has been my all time favorite songs ever, not only because its a SRK-Rani song or because its an Alka ji-Udit ji song. But because the lyrics are so beautiful and its just stands out. Its truly a song that one can remember 20, 25, 30 years down the lane. Its like the most memorable songs ever.

The way Alka ji starts out with the "Aaa" is so beautifully done. I don't know how some people can't see that! She has that beautiful romantic feel in her voice. Obviously her strong forte is romantic sweet melodious songs, so its not surprising coming from her!

Udit ji came such a magic touch to the song. Alka ji-Udit ji duets are one of a kind. They always create magic with their powerful voices. Both are versatile and both compliment each other on their duets. So if one thought that Udit ji overshadowed Alka ji in this song, then their thinking is pretty just. Udit ji was fabulous in this song! But at the same time Alka ji did full justice to the song too. I thought it was really beautifully sung out by both. Both singers had an equal share in the song!

I have tried singing this song many many times on karaoke. It is not very difficult to sing in my opinion. The difficulty level is not there. My mom has sung this song too, and the problem I saw with her was that she was having trouble controlling her breath. That's when I felt that this song isn't as easy as it sounds. Alka ji has very strong breath control in the song. There are certain places where you need to control your breath to sing the song smoothly, and she has done just that! You can hardly notice any flaws. But all in all the song's difficulty level isn't that high.

Coming to the expressions, I think she is just simply the Queen of Expressions. You def have that romantic feel in the song and you can really connect with her singing. Again both singers compliment each other so well, that the song becomes even better to hear!

In this song Alka ji play - backed not just for one actress, but she used her voice on two actresses (Kajol & Rani)! That seldom happens. Usually we see another singer play - backing for another actress. But Alka ji used her voice for both which is truly something to praise. And to manage that all on your own is something to really be proud about!

The middle portion with the "heyyyy" and "aaa" is so sweetly and beautifully done, although I felt more variations could have been added.

The way she started "kya raang layi meri dua" and the way she emphasized and really showed variations at "meriiii dua" was just mind blowing. πŸ‘

Anyways I don't know why there are such low ratings for this beautiful memorable one of a kind song sung by two talented and great singers!

1998.
The golden era of bollywood had its peak along with SRK's graph touching new highs with this smash hit musical contributed by Jatin-lalit.
targeted at urban college youth, the music is one of the high points of the film and remains eternal amongst the teen age group, even today, for obvious reasons-clean sparkling melody and simplistic tracks.

But but but...

Time has moved on and the benchmarks created by Sunidhi and Sadhna are far too high.

Yes, alkaji is fabulous as always, but as compared (inevitably yes, since it is a game) she falls a bit short.

Singing is melodious. Perfect. Consistent. Perfect. But flat? No, no.
Background music too is just about that-hummable but not entirely inspiring.

Actually this track lacks any scope pf modulation and for the first time, actually udit sings a bit better than her because he sings half a scale low from his usual voice.
Alkaji's all round talents show-typical melodious singing, consistent tempo being maintained but this track lacks one most vital ingredient-soul to make a listener hooked-in today's times, especialy when compared to the effort put in this and the effort that others have put in the tracks of the first half of this round.

This is as usual, a "my kind" of a track but the game has moved on considerably.

8/10 is my rating, and I hope for a benefit of doubt.
Just because others are way too better.

Can't comment about the nuances, but I agree with cosworth that the bars have been raised in the first half by Sunidhi, Kavita ji and Sadhna ji. Alka ji's valiant effort falls a bit short against that.

8/10

Pleasant singing. I liked the romantic expressions.
I am extremely busy in my studies, so I won't be able to give a detailed comment. Apologies to everyone.

8/10 from my side.

Excellent singing by Alka Yagnik!

A truly classical song. One of the greatest compositions ever. Though it is, it might not be Alka's best composition ever. She sang great, but not her best.

She sings this with great feel and voice quality. Really bringing the magic out of this song. But I think she struggles right off the bat with the main line. The "Ab to mera dil", and "Jaga na Sotha hai". She ends up sounding too loud on the underlined parts. Not up to her level of singing, listen to Udit for how its done right.

The rest of the singing though is much stronger, she carries the low notes well along with some great expressions. As I said earlier, the magic in her voice really brings the best out of the song. So for that great job.
