Hmm... Perhaps the most difficult part of the judge's role is to maintain consistency throughout the competition and stick to standards which have been set by the contestants themselves.

So here is a gist of my grading scale:

Ten on Ten: 'Nimbooda Nimbooda' and 'Main Vari Vari'

Nine on Ten: 'Bahot Pyar Karte Hain' and 'Kuch Na Kaho'

Eight on Ten: 'Chup Chup Ke' and 'Pyar Hua Chupke Se'

Seven on Ten: 'Chamma Chamma' and 'It's Rocking'

Now within this range, where does 'Dhak Dhak' fit?

It has mostly easy tunes. Nothing too difficult in terms of harkats or high notes (though there are some). The expressions are spot on and applaud-worthy.

BUT

Is it of the caliber of 'Main Vari Vari' or 'Nimbooda Nimbooda'? No way. The difficulty of the melodies handled in those songs, along with the attention to details is on another level.

And Anuradha's own 'Bahot Pyar Karte Hain' is in the nine bracket. There again, we had an impressive show of high notes and harkats and even some layakari. Again, a notch too high for the singing in 'Dhak Dhak'.

But 'Chamma Chamma' is not an ideal comparison either, because it was way too simple and too comfortable for the caliber of singing in 'Dhak Dhak'.

So what are you left with? The Eight/Ten bracket with awesome songs that just couldn't make that little jump to the hallowed nines and tens. Beautiful melodies like 'Pyar Hua Chupke Se' or 'Chupke Chupke'. I think this song fits rather well in that grey area.

So with the standards established and maintained, this singing gets 8/10 from me!

Omg the best song selection ever! Thank you for choosing it!

I love the "Ouch" part! πŸ˜†

Anuradha ji was so perfect and flawless in this song. She had the perfect expressions too! Just look at them:

Anuradha ji was bang on with the expressions in this song. The song had nice variations too and she utilized it all very well! I'm glad this song was chosen. I loved every bit of it. She was so good! And the best part is that Udit ji complimented her so well!

Final Rating: 9

interesting fact: Did I tell you guys that my dad used to sing with Anuradha ji way back when she was young? He used to go to rehearsals and was one of the chorus singers for her. But that was like way back when she was barely well known and into the industry. She was really young back then. I still think its quite cool!

Good singing. Has anybody noticed that her singing sounds so much like Lata ji? Coming to the singing, it was very graceful but those touches at the end of "Dhak dhak karne lagaaa" or "Tu hain meri dilrooba" makes it so much better. I thought Anuradha ji wouldn't stand a chance in this round, since her forte is bhajans, but I must say that I was wrong. I give her a 9!

Yeah there is some similarity. That's why she was the first one to actually start replacing Lata in movies for playback singing. She became the better version at the end of Lata's career.

Btw, which poster was it that was saying Anuradha doesn't put expressions into her song? πŸ˜†

A sensuous song, no doubt..

Here the actual tone of Anuradha's voice comes forward. She has given correct expressions to the song, no doubt. The voice turns sharp in the higher notes. I liked the way the "Dhak Dhak Karnay Laga" part was sung, it has been main focal point of the song. The pronunciation is good, emphasis on the words of the song has been done well. Not too difficult to sing. Throw is good, apt with the kind of song. Not very impressive for me, but definitely a good job.

I would like to give this performance an 8 out of 10.
