Note:

This is Dance Song round. So all types of Dance songs (Modern, traditional, item, party, wedding, etc.) work. For Alka a more item dance song was chosen. But it's obviously a dance song.

A popular song of its time!

The voice flows well melodically with the song. Not much variations or renditions are heard here. The high notes are good, but in parts turn sharp. I like the way she lifts her voice for singing "Chamma Chamma.." the second time.

Expressions are reasonably good. Sometimes I felt that more power could have been added. The thin voice sometimes seemed a bit misfit for this song esp for the fast portions of this song. More flair could have been added with some naughty and nautanki style. Not a bad performance, but could have been improved in places.

I would like to give this performance an 8 out of 10.

What a blast of the past, when Anu Malik was in top form! How things have changed...

Ironically, Mr Copycat's song 'Chhamma Chhamma' was used in Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge without giving Anu any credit. 🤣 And that's not the only story attached to this song : it was recorded when Alka Yagnik was going through a patch of depression and wasn't interested in singing - Anu Malik had to drag her to the studio for the recording of this song! She mustn't have regretted it since it was such a superhit! You can also hear Shankar Mahadevan singing two lines at the end - those were the days before he was part of one the biggest music director teams in Bollywoood!

The singing is nothing great, though. I mean it's well sung, but there aren't any portions that are extremely challenging or awesomely executed. Considering the 'average' of bollywood singing, I don't see why I would give this more than 7 out of 10.

Hmmm, not as much energetic as the other singers. I feel that someone else would have done better if given this song. She was on track and everything, but she missed the whole energy aspect of the song. Her voice was almost lifeless had it not been for some jhatkas when she sung "Hila doon UP, hila doon MP...." I'll give her an 8!

Alkaji has done a really good job. Thanx for selecting it risingbove, chamma chamma is a popular item song, alkaji has proved that a sweet voice can also do full justice to item or dance songs. On the whole I loved listening to the song, as compared to the competition level now it might not be that perfect but still its a good no. & I ll give alkaji a 9.

7 /10.

For a singer like Alkaji, this song is pretty straightforward, with decent foot tapping background music. Now coming to singing, as a listener, it can make one dance but the song needs more energy, and alkaji could have added more voice modulation in the main chorus.

She excels in one part-meri bal hai umar mujhe lagta hai dar-where correct timing and control of breath is required which only a seasoned singer could accomplish.
I could have given an 8 or even 9, but considering the high standards set by her, she could have applied a bit more soul to this song. This song by China Gate is worthy of a hit status.

Solid singing by Alka Yagnik

I don't think this song was that easy. There were some slightly high and low notes you had to reach. "Tere paas aaoon teri saanson" and then come back down. And then there was just good voice quality, with good expressions. She at least had the right attitude throughout the song.

Overall, good voice quality, not so difficult, but not so easy song either, with good expressions. I'm stuck between a 7 and a 8. But to be honest with myself, this was more 7 caliber singing. She didn't have the energy required for a dance song.
